I've been waiting for this laptop since February. I think I'll have to wait a little bit longer for the AMD IPS model here in Spain. Would have preferred an 6800u option, but the 5825u will do the job and give a great battery life. Good luck with the channel!
Love that you indicated to set it to 90Hz and 10-bit. I wish they had made the cooling better... it would be just such an incredible laptop without this racket of noise from the tiny little fan. 3 things I am dying for this to have: 1. Fan upgrade to dual fans, entirely too noisy in performance mode 2. A hotkey for performance modes as like the Galaxy Book Pro has. Given the crazy amount of noise we're talking about, I really want to extremely quickly switch modes 3. Don't make me remove adhesive to open this device. That's just mean. Additional commentary: they could have easily gone for $1000 with these adjustments, it seems to me that this i5 CPU is a beast mode capable device, so adding the cooling to go with it would have been next level. Dual fan and 16GB RAM for $1000 would have been a a win win win win for everyone involved. Vs the Galaxy Book Pro 360 it is noticeably less finger print magnet, although somehow the MacBook Pros are even less of a finger print magnet. The 16:10 aspect is divine, as is the screen quality. The keyboard is on the sweet side of the spectrum. So close... the 13" M1 MacBook Air is probably a better laptop for the money, which really is too bad. Great overall choices from Asus. I think Asus could get more specific with things and offer fewer SKUs. I would recommend Zenbook 2214 OLED for this model, Zenbook Pro 2214 OLED for a 16GB and dual fan i7 model. Next year would be 2314 (14 for 14") and so on, and it wouldn't be so confusing. Andrew! Thank you so much, I'm enjoying this content, and I'm enjoying this laptop. Would you ever consider doing a short video covering exactly how to open it/upgrade the NVME?
Asus has a manual on how to replace the storage in the support section for this laptop. It's accessible under the bottom cover, which is secured by mostly Torx T5 screws and 2 Phillips screws underneath the rubber feet.
I just got mine in the mail today, super impressed so far! I've used OLED forever in phones, and it's fantastic to finally have it in a laptop. I'm gonna be testing mine with some GPUs in a TB3 enclosure over the next few days. eGPU installation was plug and play other than the driver install. Mine was set to 60 Hz and 8 bit color initially. I changed the refresh rate like showed, but you need to go into Intel Graphics Command Center to change the color depth to 10 bit color.
So at $750 it is a very impressive laptop that won’t break the bank. I love the screen number pad, internal mic quality is excellent with the audio crisp and clear. The 720p webcam quality Andrew, while better than most, is a little washed out but workable. I’m sure the version with the 1080p webcam is better. I do prefer the speaker quality on the Lenovo better than on this laptop. Anything over 400 nits of brightness is also excellent in my book. Also love the OLED display and the fact that it has a 16:10 aspect ratio. Over all and for $750 like I said, it is a decent laptop. Once again my friend, your reviews just Glow!! Thank you Andrew!! 👍😁
How long does yours take to boot from a cold boot? Mine is literly taking over a minute (wake up is still instant) And did you do windows update? At 90hz, balance mode, 50% brightness, no keyboard lighting and no HDR. Running setup, window updates, logging to accounts and youtube, the battery lasted about 3 hours if anyone is interested at all. There are 3 interesting buttons for me in the functions row which are, toggle mute/ toggle camera and opening MyAsus app. These are just some things i wish i had known but otherwise, this video had done an amazing job in aiding my decision making. I went for the yoga 9i. This laptop seems like a really good and viable option tho. It's just missing that 2 in 1 configuration and i feel like 256gb and 8gb aren't enough in terms of memory. But then again if you want to double both the price isn't gonna be as appealing. Got yoga 9i for 1350€ (A bit more than in the US higher taxes here in Europe.) And Asus one with 512 and 16gb would've been around the same price. You gain higher refresh rate, but lose the pen, cpu and the 2 in 1 config, so wasn't the greatest deal out there.

Will they bring a version with 16gb ram? I dont know why Its not available. Neither the AMD ones...is this notebook mucho worse than Lenovo thinkbook 13s gen 4 AMD 6800u?
Good laptop, but unfortunately a bit too heavy. 1.4 kg is definitely not a lightweight laptop and you're going to feel it in your backpack or laptop bag... For unknown reason Asus still hasn't widely released 13 inch version of this laptop which is significantly lighter and smaller.
Nice laptop for the price. Memory is a little lacking especially since one cannot upgrade it on the unit. Display is excellent for the price. Camera is mediocre but acceptable for use. Microphones sounded clear. The numpad on the touchpad is sort of gimmickry idea. The layout of the numpad on the touchpad is not practical for fast numeric inputting of data. Asus should do away with this as it does not add any real benefit for most users. In other words users are not going to purchase this unit for the numpad. It would be interesting to see what this unit would list for with 16 gig memory and let say a 1 tb storage drive that supports the generation 4 standard. Also users should be aware they will only have 1 USB-C port when the unit is plugged in. Still an excellent "First Looks" review.

Does anyone know the release date? My current laptop is having issues and after having its OS completely rebooted and even having the SSD replaced entirely, it keeps crashing on me and I think it's time for a new laptop
Im betting the battery life is going to be horrible. 12th gen intel CPUs are meant for desktops where users dont care about cpu power. i would rather i get a ryzen 4000 version of this laptop than 12 gen. If Asus makes a ryzen 6000 of this it would be a zillion better. much longer battery and games will probably run twice as fast.
12th gen intel CPUs are hybrid architecture optimized for long battery life but they can never reach the efficiency of Ryzen 6000 series with 6 nanometer manufacturing process while intel are still stucked at 10 nanometer so the bottom line: Intel is good but Ryzen is better in efficiency, battery life, less heat generating
Do you void the warranty when opening it up? Like ripping stickers or something obvious? I just got the Ryzen version (UW3402) and generally I'm really happy but the MediaTek WIFI Card is performing so poorly that I'd want to switch it with an Intel one. That should work, right?

My preorder page says it should be delivered between the 7 and 9 of may. The first shipment is probably heading towards amazon.
Hi Mark, When is the full review with battery life and everything coming out?
Next video for sure
@@andrewmarcdavid I really appreciate you answering our comments! Keep it up ;)
Andrew, do you think this processor is a lot weaker than the i7-1280P? Or the difference in multimedia use is not too much?
Not too much weaker
May I know when you will be posting the full review?
I am shooting for tomorrow or Friday at the latest.
Were you able to test the Iris XE graphics with CAD, sketchup, or something similar?
forgot to mention there is ips version
how's the Trackpad and the fan noise? coz they're practically deal breakers for me
You guys in the US are lucky. In the United Kingdom Asus are selling this laptop for £1,399.99 🤦🏻♂️$750 is a bargain for a quad HD Oled laptop
How is it that i can't find any video out there comparing these 2 in core i7
Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 vs asus zenbook 14 flip oled
Would really appreciate it if you could do one where we can see how the 2 would look and compare to one another screen size specially and performance differences between Ryzen™ 9 5900HX vs Core™ i7-1165G7.
Asus sell this laptop in my country for lowest price started at 1300 USD haha
Will you test the 14x/14x Space Edition?
Will they bring a version with 16gb ram? I dont know why Its not available. Neither the AMD ones...is this notebook mucho worse than Lenovo thinkbook 13s gen 4 AMD 6800u?
Good laptop, but unfortunately a bit too heavy. 1.4 kg is definitely not a lightweight laptop and you're going to feel it in your backpack or laptop bag... For unknown reason Asus still hasn't widely released 13 inch version of this laptop which is significantly lighter and smaller.
Best notebook
What is your opinion of the Q409ZA
Expect it to be good. I will try to get one in to review.
So a sleek and slim laptop with all important ports with it? Wow
Andrew rocks!
gorgeous ;)
Marc HP has released a 2.8k Oled HP Pavilion 14 laptop. Is it possible if you can make a video on this please 🙏🏻
I already reviewed it: ua-cam.com/video/MLjaZR7hgQA/v-deo.html
Could you please help to check what is the WLAN card used ? What is the model ?
Do you know any posibility to come with a 16" version?
very competitive pricing with OLED 2k display
Currently on sale for $500 @ best buy.
A steal at that price
may i know the battery life?
does its keyboard backlight has a timeout setting? it is very annoying to have to manually turn it on and off by pressing F7 multiple times . thanks
I feel like an influencer attracting by means of a lower price offer is misleading viewers. Coz the fact is, it is not just $750.
I feel like this comment is misleading.
May 9th they dropping a 120hz laptop.
I vastly prefer the previous design. I might be the only one.
I think so.
Is there a 2in1 version?
I hope so
I am sure there will be
just give me option for 16gb ram and 512gb/1tb storage and i'll consider to buy it when this laptop appear in my country 😍
Caballero disculpe donde puedo comprar esa laptop
Is there a 2in 1 variant
does this come with screen savor preconfigured to avoid burn in in OLED display?
Yes
Trying to decide between this and the surface laptop 4. Please help!!! Going to need it for nursing school soon
I Ike the Asus a lot because of the OLED display and 12th Gen processor. But Surface Laptop 5 should be coming some point this year
@@andrewmarcdavid for the expected cost of the surface 5 and the leaked spec sheet what would you pick? i am currently using the asus zenbook ux303ub with a broken hinge and the screen is falling out of the lid because my ex stepped on it and i love how solid it feels (or used to feel)
Does anyone know the release date? My current laptop is having issues and after having its OS completely rebooted and even having the SSD replaced entirely, it keeps crashing on me and I think it's time for a new laptop
See link in description. Available to purchase from Best Buy
That is really a great value for $750. OLED is fantastic and everything seems on point.
Imagine this with 16 and 32 memory. And storage 512 to 1T. Can this be hook up to an eGPU?
Yes it can as it has 2 thunderbolt ports
What is an eGPU?
@@elixir4182 external graphics card installed in case.
This or the new MacBook Air M2?
I will be reviewing the MacBook Air M2 so we can get a comparison at that time.
@@andrewmarcdavid A direct side by side comparison would be interesting. Can't wait
Where is the full review?!
Hopefully tomorrow if edit can get done in time
It costs $1500 in my country :C
Im betting the battery life is going to be horrible. 12th gen intel CPUs are meant for desktops where users dont care about cpu power. i would rather i get a ryzen 4000 version of this laptop than 12 gen. If Asus makes a ryzen 6000 of this it would be a zillion better. much longer battery and games will probably run twice as fast.
I started my battery test this morning, so we will see when I get back into the studio tonight.
12th gen intel CPUs are hybrid architecture optimized for long battery life
but they can never reach the efficiency of Ryzen 6000 series with 6 nanometer manufacturing process while intel are still stucked at 10 nanometer
so the bottom line: Intel is good but Ryzen is better in efficiency, battery life, less heat generating
why blue model again??
whats wrong with asus
They also have another color
Do you void the warranty when opening it up? Like ripping stickers or something obvious? I just got the Ryzen version (UW3402) and generally I'm really happy but the MediaTek WIFI Card is performing so poorly that I'd want to switch it with an Intel one. That should work, right?
I don’t believe opening it up voids the warranty. It is meant to be opened for upgrading
wowowooww
1.2k here
Sound quality is horrible, not even comparable with the new M1 Macbook Pros.
sound quality is good but the M1 MacBook is better. I disagree regarding the assessment that it is horrible.
@@andrewmarcdavid Actually I am a Windows user since 1995 but I was tired of laptops sound and screen quality and switched to Macbook last Novber, since then I am using a dream machine as the screen and sound quality matters.
Love your work Andrew, will you marry me?
Thanks! Let me check with my wife...
