      The perfect high-end laptop: 16:10, MUX switch, 2in1 convertible, mini-LED, HUGE battery with very efficient AMD6000 CPU. replaceable ram, extremely small and light for the high end specs, probably 10-12 hr battery when using the very competent iGPU.
      This marvel of engineering is the perfect proper gaming laptop . I really wish it came with the Radeon 6700S and 6850M options . They would have managed to make it around 200-300 grams lighter and $200 cheaper.
      The other 12 gen laptop is not really one given its size, weight, battery and CPU power limits that are higher than high-end Ryzen desktop PC

    Asus is doing really good as a company. Improving their products with each generation, and fixing the heating problems. Other companies should learn from this. Asus also isn't afraid to try new things, like the FlowX series, constantly innovating and growing. The Zephyrus G14 is hands down the best laptop ever made in past few years!

They made back of the the laptop heatsink, which is what I've been wishing, so they could make the connectors on right side closer to the back side etc.. Asus seems to be taking a lot of notes from the thermal design of previous Razer laptops. I remember this years G14 which became the second 14 inch beast to adopt a vapor chamber after last year's Blade 14, and the little fan in the middle inside the Flow X16 reminds me a lot of the two little fans in the Blade 17 which helped the thermals quite a bit.
    I'm really happy to see good design choices diffuse across different manufacturers, especially the bigger ones. Razer gets some stuff done right but they likely won't ever be closer to "budget-friendly" just due to the nature and the scale of their company. But big players like Asus can really bring the changes down to the more accessible product lines and push the industry forward.

    • @Dave2D
      @Dave2D  2 роки тому +34

      ya. Razer's stuff has always been really expensive. i'd like to think that Asus was one of the first companies out there trying to make thin performance laptops. But they're old stuff sucked. Most of their thin devices had horrible thermal issues 7-8 years ago. Nowadays they are SO much better at making it work. They have a lot of thin performance devices that are properly cooled.

    I actually got myself an ASUS flow x16 for college as I find it as great fit for personal use and school life at the same time (Just ordered it). I noticed that laptop has a perfect rival for it which is the MacBook pro 16 fully specked out. The pricing is identical to one another for sure though the MacBook pro is slightly more expensive. In performance they're practically the same thing, and both use the same technology of mini led both hitting max cap of 1100 nits. With the flow x16 also having industrial look to it as well allowing for me to not stand out in public, it truly feels like I just got the windows version of the MacBook pro 16 fully specked out with added benefits that apple doesn't have. I can't wait for delivery day, and I definitely felt like I made the right choice.

    The Flow X16 is the laptop I truly wished for when I bought my Lenovo Yoga 15, the Lenovo was the most powerful 2 in 1 at the time which only had an Nvidia GTX 1050 2gb. It had a 4K screen and when you start doing long word documents (I used the pen to write all over them and PDFs) it started to noticeably slow down. Especially if I live-streamed homework sessions on Discord. I really want an Flow X16 now.

    I reeeeaaaaaallllly hope that ASUS takes the same stuff they’re doing with the Flow X16 and puts it in other laptops. Take that screen and an AMD chip and that battery and throw it in a 2 in 1 ultrabook for some really good battery life. Keep the replaceables, ideally. I personally haven’t found any ultrabooks with an efficient AMD chip, a good screen, and 2 in 1. I really hope this is a sign of future products for ASUS.

      I think that's just what a machine like this costs. Things like the display aren't cheap, plus the cooling setup and engineering required to cool powerful components in such a slim chassis.
      Its similarly priced to the M1 pro 16inch MacBook with a miniLED display, and about £500 more than the g15 with the same specs. Given the much better display, e-gpu connection, being a 2in1 and having more premium build quality, that's a fair price.
