  • Putting 2006 Nissan 350z rims on my 2011 Nissan Leaf SL. Both the 350z and the Leaf share the same 5x114.3 bolt pattern. The offset and wheel width though are different. Leaf rim width is 6.5 inches. The 350z rims are 8 inches wide in front and 8.5 inches wide in the back. The offset is 40 for stock rims. but is 30 front and 33 rear on the 350z. This pushes the 350z farther to the inside and outside of the car. The good news is the fit is great. They fill the wheel wells and move the wheel to the outer lip of the fender. There is no clearance issue turning left or right or up or over bumps. Great upgrade. The staggered nature of the rears actually help alot visually since the sock wheels are sunk in more in the back than the front.

    Completely changes the look and stance of the car. Great work and thanks for the idea!

      Thanks, for the the like and comments. Its also nice in that having Z wheels on the car, keeps the upgrade in the Nissan family.

    That really does great things for the lines of the car. Looking at getting a wider, but light weight set for ours. Cutting about five pounds/corner is an easy and not too expensive upgrade. Knowing I can simply duplicate Z wheel sizes makes the process easier! Thanks!!

      +Far Reach Engineering - You didn't need wheel adapters?

      I didnt need wheel adapters. The wheels I had bolted straight on.

    I have a set of those exact wheels on my 300zx which is pretty much parked... Now I want to put them on my Leaf, though not sure how they'll work with pearl white.

    Thanks an awfull lot for this video, mate!!! I am just buying four new alloys and I couldn't decide what offset and diameter. 18 or 17, j7.5 or j8 or j8.5? But your video is my definitive answer. Absolute information. Thanks for that

    How much was your speedometer affected?

  • @BryceLovesTech
    @BryceLovesTech 10 років тому +3

    Looks way better, does it affect your range?

    • @FarReachFR
      @FarReachFR  10 років тому +5

      Thanks Bryce. Yes, it does affect range. I only wore them for 2 days because I found structural flaws in my criagslist sourced used rims/tire combo. But in those 2 days, my average went from 3.7kw/m down to 3.4 on day one, and then back to 3.6 on day two. Honestly first day I was corner carving everywhere so that reading was much lower just because I was driving hard, not just normal commuting. but if you take that as a range, you would expect to see a reduction of range between 3% - 8%. in other words a 3 - 8 mile loss on a 100 mile charge. Which to me would be totally acceptable, I just need to find a set in better condition.

    I bought these exact rims. They're heavy but look really good. What tire pressure do you keep them at?

    Thanks for sharing! Is it necessary to use a spacer to install the 350z wheels for leaf?

    • @FarReachFR
      @FarReachFR  2 роки тому +2

      No spacer is needed. On my car we just bolted up straight on like you see here. Thanks.

    Good vid man! Now I'm wondering if I can go staggered as well on my chevy lacetti wagon? Stock rims: 165/55/15 et38-44. Thinking of putting 18x7.5 215/40 and 18x8.5 225/40. But I don't want the tires to be poking out to much. And still thinking what's the right offset. Thanks!

      Max, good luck in your selection. I took a piece of cardboard to cover the wheel well then measured from the existing wheel to where I wanted the new wheels to be. (to the cardboard) then with that mm measurement, I could then specifically target the new offset that would give me the fit I was looking for. Also a big help is this offset calculator. Here is a link. I use it all the time, when getting new wheels. www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=205&aspect=55&diameter=16&wheelwidth=6.5&offset=40&width2=235&aspect2=40&diameter2=18&wheelwidth2=9&offset2=15#content

    you need the right diameter as the stock wheels because now your speedometer is wrong because u need the right profile tyres on those 350z wheels. Heres a link to check:

    I'm looking at some 2005 350Z 17 inch wheels to put on my 2013 Leaf. Do the TPMS sensors transfer with no issues?

      Yes, you can transfer your TPMS

    How does it drive? Any change in mileage, do the wheels rub when you turn, car sluggish?

    • @FarReachFR
      @FarReachFR  7 років тому +4

      Mileage appeared to go down slightly, but not as bad as the current Michelin I have on it now which are worse. There was no rubbing and it was not sluggish. The biggest effect it had was AMAZING amounts of GRIP. You could tear around hairpin corners and not a peep. The only downsides I felt it really had was in two areas. 1. Ride height. 2. rougher ride. 1 For Ride Height with the tire and wheel package the car ended up being a bit higher. Just a bit, but still I wanted a lower slung look, and the rims and tires made it taller and I felt it looked more like a Murano after it. 2. Rougher ride. The stock tires and ride is real quiet and comfy. I didnt want to change that character so much as I have other cars for that. These particular tires where just a lot harsher made a lot of noise, etc. A better tire might solve that problem. Anyway overall the tires worked no interference. Biggest plus was crazy amount of corner grip and g forces, biggest downside was increased ride height.

      Looks bad ass... I like it... Paint the calipers red... :) How much did you end up finding the tires and wheels for? Also saw a Webasto SunRoof you can cut into it.... Commuter car doesn't have to be lame... lol What kind of mileage are you getting on a full charge?
