- Stan Lee was honored for his remarkable accomplishments over his enduring career with a Disney Legends Award at D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA.
A visibly moved Stan Lee shared with the crowd how much it meant to him to save up to buy the book The Art of Walt Disney. He explained, “I loved Walt Disney. He was more than a man, he was an inspiration. He was something to reach for, to be like him. I know there are one million of probabilities you don’t read what I am going to express here, maybe you read this, maybe you don’t, however, I want to say to you thanks for the magnificent work you have done during these years. You are called “Stan the man” for having created wonderful characters in the world of the comic; characters whose stories and adventures were an inspiration not only for kids but also for adults. Yes, it is. Personally, I love the stories of Marvel Universe, and, although I am not a person who has her room full of posters or a person who have all the comics books (because they are a lot!) I must say I admire you. I admire you because you were able to create a big number of characters such as The Avengers, The X-Men, Spiderman, Doctor Strange, Daredevil, The Fantastic Four, Black Panther, etc., etc., etc.. by making them not only superheroes or villains but also humans, showing that even the strongest or the most intelligent sometimes can fall down but he or she can start again.
I am going to be sincere: I am not the most expert for talking about the comics’ world. Yes, I know some of the stories but not all of them. Nevertheless, I am fascinated with your work.
It’s worth saying that it is important to say Thanks to your team because also thanks to them the comics have been great, the series: super, and the movies: just AMAZING AND ADMIRABLE.
