Would you consider putting out a little bit of a more in depth build guide? I'm interested in building one of these as they look like a lot of fun. How hard was it to learn to weld aluminum?
Well I’m not really the best with videos and editing. I could answer some questions though. Facebook has two good groups that have a lot of info too. Jetjon-jetski and Franken jetjon. Also check out leantocustoms here on UA-cam. Learning to mig weld aluminum is not super hard. You just gotta clean material good. And be prepared to grind a lot.
@@SELFMARINE lol I'm watching leantocustoms and some other stuff, I see towards the end you added 2 skid plate looking things on the bottom on either side of the jet and below your swim deck, what are they for? How much did you spend on your welding setup?
@@jeffrisher2372 those are trim tabs on rear of boat. Basically makes hull longer. I was having porpoising issues above 30 mph at first. Keeps boat from bouncing. Most of the weight in rear of boat.
As far as welding setup. I think it was around $700 for titanium welder, spool gun and cart. I bought a argon bottle from a guy on facebook marketplace. if I would have known about everlast welders then I would have just bought a everlast welder.
You know I never added it up since it took me a year to build. I do have a notebook with most the parts list. I’m fortunate to get the Seadoo for cheap since it had no title. I also work on watercraft for a living so I get/have a lot of extra parts. Also had a friend give me some aluminum and I would also search marketplace for cheap aluminum. The Seadoo I used would be around 9k though if just bought it.
Measures 13ft to transom and then the housing for IBR is another foot. So originally is was right at 14ft and with swim step right at 14.5 ft. I ended up adding 10" length to hull to get rid of the porpoising issue I had. Thanks!!!!
I just registered it as the jet ski hull that I cut up, but may go register later as a homebuilt boat. To get hull number assigned in texas you have to set up a meeting with game warden and do an inspection. Not super hard just inconvenient. The boat hull had no title so I could have filed for bonded title but that is a pain in butt to get in texas.
I had to click off because of the music. I really wanted to keep watching i just couldnt with that same 10 second guitar riff on repeat. Tried on mute and the riff just played in my head. 😂. Theres plenty of copyright free music out there. It would make viewer retention go up, im certain of it.
Yes if I had it to do over I would have just made one or bought one, But when I started I didn't know how to weld aluminum and thought it would be easier. Next boat is going to have aluminum pump for sure. learned a lot and will definitely be different on next one. Thanks
I would have loved to watched the whole video, however that repetitive God awful music was just murder! I just couldn't take it. Maybe try something different, you might get more views.
This was spectacular, one of the best parts was watching your aluminum welds get better.
This was truly impressive to see, great job upcycling that johnboat into something SO much better! Truly great work,, thank you for sharing with us!
Thank you! A lot of work in this boat.
Wow! That’s a ton of work! Custom build looks great!
Thanks! Took me right at one year to complete for this video. Still fixing issues and changing things though.
I love this! thank you so much for posting this step by step! I now want to start my own project.
we have mini jet boats like this one , do you want it?

Whats special about everlast welders? Is it mig or tig? Does it not use argon?
Super cool! Great work on this. I want to build one. What was the total cost for this? I am assuming the Seadoo motor / parts were the biggest cost.

Brilliant! 👏 ✌️🇺🇲
What is the overall length of the boat now since you chopped it some? Sweet boat btw

Nice boat and build! Looks really good.
What was the boat that you started with?
Thanks
Thanks! Boat was a 1994 alumaweld 16.5 Jon boat.
Pleaseee share that build as well!!!!
I will, right after finishing it. Just painted it and about to start assembling it for last time
Hi, I was looking at building something like this! was it hard to get registered? or were you able to use the original number?

Don't use obnoxious repetitive music for a video this long.....
Lol, well with copyright issues, don’t have a big selection of good music.

Nice job but man it would have really made the boat worth a lot more if you would have made an aluminum intake.

Is it for sale?
No didn’t plan on selling it, but I guess everything is for sale if the price is right. 🤷🏻♂️
How much you want for it
@@shawnogrady1141 I guess my “I don’t wanna sell price” would be 30k. 😊
