YOOO LETS GO, I was actually really disappointed that the sequel of this was cancelled. Especially, when the next game was going to be an entire week long instead of a single day. I really hope it does well.
Unfortunately, that game will be by the studio behind the Dr. Dekker game, and not a sequel to this one. Instead, the studio that made this game is coming out with a (partially) FMV puzzle horror game called 3AM - also not a sequel.
The game as a whole wasn't bad at all, as much as I disagree with its moralist and anti-Libertarian message with this I won't argue. The ending in particular, however, kinda was. This was cited as one of the reasons the funding for a sequel couldn't so far be raised by quite a few sources, including the author, Tim Follin, himself. Well, this and tediousness of the production process.
Don't take this as 100% fact, I've just read this, but apparently there was going to be a fight scene with Simon and Ryan, but one of the actors called sick on the day, and they didn't have enough budget to keep renting the area, so they wrote the ending basically on the same day as it was performed. Shame really, I actually really enjoyed the game, despite the slight cheesiness.
it's actually sad that theres probably not going to be a sequel, I really love the universe presented here and it kinda sucks to know all that's holding them back is budget.
LordWhiteWolf06 the lead creator had to sink thousands of his own dollars even with Kickstarter’s help for this game, and the sequel was allegedly meant to be much more in depth, spanning several days and two major stories rather than one evening, But it relied on the sales of this one and fell short
I've watch both Nick and Ryan play this now. Loved it both times. It is a small game with its rough edges, but all in all it is really neat little game. The acting isn't that good but it is incredibly entertaining. The story isn't perfect but pulls you in quite effectively. It got so much personality even in its flaws.
That tape was the most absurd, circumstantial evidence ever. A good defense attorney would point out that like 3 million rolls of that tape were produced in one year. Also, Jenks has got a lot of nerve reading Miranda after his mockery of an investigation.
She straight up admitted it to a cops face. That is the evidence taken to court. Not tape. He asked her about the tape and instead of saying "Nobody else has it" she went "SHIT I KILLED HER SHE WAS MAKING WEIRD SOUNDS SO LIKE A PYSCHOPATH I HELD HER UNDER WATER WITH A STICK"
150booyadragon I mean, I am arguing a goofy video game BUT her confession would get tossed. It wasn’t recorded and she didn’t write it down. She could deny it and there was no physical evidence that tied her to the scene. The law might be different in the UK admittedly, but when Jenks asks her if there is anything she’d like to tell him and then she says “no, I’ve got to get back to work”, she is effectively ending the interview. He continues to question her. Even a first year PD would argue coercion at that point. She didn’t feel free to leave and felt that if she didn’t answer questions there would be consequences. If you want to get really meta, Jenks also interrogated her about 30 times in about 5 hours. That’s insanity. A jury would never hear her “confession” (especially with the attorney the Rand money would get her). Jenks had nothing else but the license, which even if it had Rebecca’s DNA on it after Jenks picked it up barehanded and put it in a sandwich bag before actually handing it to all the principal suspects for examination, she could still argue that her DNA was on it from checking her ID at the bar. No way she’s convicted. She can slap me around anytime though.

Ok hear me out, I would love it if NL did another murder mystery game, none of them will be able to hold a candle to this game, but there are a lot of mystery games out there and I think it would be a great time if he did another.
After witnessing what appears to be attempted murder, why does he just immediately believe ryans story and start looking into simon, leaving the girl to walk around about 10ft from where it happened with the 2 guys still there. Then when the tape comes up, he doesn't even question that a piece of tape could possibly be used by anyone else, it's just asserted that it's ryans tape from then on. Then It's somehow suspicious that somebody misremembers what kind of tape they used.
Simon began his epic quest to find his screwdriver so he could complete his satanic auto-hypnosis inducing homebrew, So he could finally fulfill his dream of becoming prime candidate and get a top job.
I'm surprised that I'm not disappointed in this ending, but it's probably because I'm just *that* sad that it doesn't have a sequel.. what a great quirky game, really! I've gotten way too invested in the dang Atlas story line now lol
I started off this series expecting it to be a shitty joke game, but came to look forward to each episode. Really friggin' sucks that it ended like that. Rebecca's confession was the shittiest, most impossibly self-incriminating dialogue ever. It's not even a realistic conversation haha.
Really Ryan? Paul explicitly said, "Take care of the Inspector." And what do you do? You go out into the woods and sacrifice some random girl. Nice going. That aside, this was a fun game. SHOUT OUT TO *SIMON'S SCREWDRIVER* EVERYONE WOO!

So casual. I got a big stick and pushed her down obviously. I think the ending was on the dumb side. But also like im glad she talked so much in the end scene coz like its important to wrap it up.
From the production history: one of the actors got sick and the filming was delayed, and then they ran out of money and had to change the ending entirely to this rushed version - just in case people wonder why this seems too abrupt. Edit: whoops, NL mentions it in the end
i don't think the ending wasn't that disappointing sure would be nice to know more about the satanic connections but for me atleast the murder being Rebecca was a surprise
All that satanic mind-fuckery going on...and Kate was killed by a jealous lover who runs the bar she frequents, sounds like a bad anime plot line lol, explains why everyone loves it including me
Dear lord, there were so many 'strings' that just turn out to be actually nothing at all. The world was interesting, but they made so many things seem relevant when they actually weren't. Then... what, some tape that randomly shows up at the end is the only reason for the end? It doesn't even make sense. I did enjoy NL commentary through this game a lot though, silver lining.
So the moral of the story is: no matter how radical and profound your ideas are and how innovative and perfectly calculated your business is, it can all be brought down by something as banal as some middle-aged woman's jealousy.

It sucks that fmv are pretty limiting, while also more complicated to make than sitting a 2d or 3d artist down in a room, cause I always was a fan of those type of games.
I enjoyed this but what the fuck. Like all the evidence was there in the first hour, that was everything you needed to know. Simon could have easily ended everything when you showed him the Drivers license the first time. That was like being taken on a fun ride then slapped in the face.
According to Jenks' actors Twitter there is a new game called the shapeshifting detective featuring Jenks in it coming out soon.
YOOO LETS GO, I was actually really disappointed that the sequel of this was cancelled. Especially, when the next game was going to be an entire week long instead of a single day. I really hope it does well.
Omai. I was kinda disappointed. But now I am hyped for it ^_^

Charlie E. When that comes out we all need to spam NL’s twitter to make sure he plays it
That one will be fun, I'm sure, but I still hope they get to make the sequel for this one some day.
For some reason I fucking loved this series, but geez the ending was disappointing
Yes, i agree , it was so underwhelming
There's a reason the (obviously foreshadowed) sequel did not come to be.
The reason was the lack of funding, the same reason the ending was rushed. So no, your implied "No sequel because it was bad" is wrong.
The game as a whole wasn't bad at all, as much as I disagree with its moralist and anti-Libertarian message with this I won't argue. The ending in particular, however, kinda was. There's another game staring most of the same people from this game called the Shapeshifting detective coming out

*Achoo!*
Jason Lenny Hmmm, maybe we should use the screwdriver

Simon left to go find THE SCREWDRIVER!

HOW DOES TALKING ABOUT TAPE CAUSE HER TO. CONFESS A MURDER
Let's not ask the wife why her husband is giving another lady 500 pounds..... Why not game why not?

Oh wow, I've seen *THIS* before!
Paul darrow is paul rand. They dedicated the game to him and yet talk about the possibility of a sequel. A sequel without him would be weird.
He isn't dead
he is also the voice for Grand Moff Tarkin in Empire at War
He had his legs removed not long after this game though, that would probably put a damper on his will to act I'd imagine.
Aw man I didn't think that was THE end, I thought NL just got a BAD end :( Still an enjoyable experience! I hope we do get a sequel one day!

Unexpected ending to say the least.
"So I think james gotta be very high"
In more ways than one. :p
It's always passion crimes (love, hate, etc). Always. I kinda saw the loop coming.
