Nice camp, the size is pretty cozy. Would you mind sharing the footprint size? Im looking into building a similarly size cabin. Just a place to sleep and get out the city. Thanks in advance!
Thanks! Duluth is a great town. 👍 This is east of Marquette, you actually are looking west towards Marquette here. Not a lot of places on the south shore with sunset views over water so that was a huge plus for us. Also it’s about 12 miles as the crow flies from our farm and you can basically get there via two tracks and backcountry routes if you want. You guys have any snow over your way? The little we had is melted now, crazy start to winter. Hope it turns around soon.
No snow yet, unfortunately. Fat biking until then. Must be close to Munising? Pass through there several times a year. Love that town, looking forward to seeing you finish the inside.
@@jeffreyd3352 yeah, between Munising and Marquette, but closer to Marquette. 12 miles across the bay basically. Was riding the Harlow Lake trails the other day in my fat bike and there was zero snow, could have just rode my mountain bike. I guess that’s the one plus, extended dirt season. Raining all day today, some snow forecast tomorrow but after that nothing in the forecast.
Yes, there are definitely a lot of places like that with tough access. This area has a pretty rugged coastline but is mostly low lying. The biggest challenge is just the rock, it lies just below the soil surface. About 1/4 mile west of us is a beautiful sandy beach and river mouth which is fun to paddle down to.
Thank you. I just checked out your channel and looking forward to watching your videos. 👍 I am going to do a farm tour soon but truth be told we spent most of the year moving from our old farm on the Leelanau peninsula so we haven’t gotten too far yet. I am remodeling the old farm house and updating it, we actually made a pledge to not start any animals or gardens this year so we could get moved and house stuff done. We made it until August and suddenly had 150 chickens, 3 sheep, some rabbits, and a livestock guardian dog, doh! After selling our farm down there we came across the camp and it was such a great deal we ended up buying that instead of putting the extra funds towards this farm…. But it was a fair trade. We were doing a large garden plus pigs, chickens, sheep at our old farm, mostly to raise our own food but we did sell pastured meat birds too. Being back in the UP we realize we definitely need to add a hoop house to really be productive with our garden endeavors. 😆
Really nice. My wife and I are hoping to do something similar. Having to research all the zoning laws etc. Would love to find someplace with no restrictions.
LOVE your slice of HEAVEN . I have a camp in Big Bay off the AAA road. Love to find a lot on Lake Superior can you help in anyway ? Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Thank you. We get up to Big Bay a lot and mountain bike those new Powell Township trails near Thomas Rock (forever Gobbler’s Nob to me😆). With the spotting scope we can actually see the strobe on the large tower there from camp. Not with the naked eye though. As far as finding stuff in the water, it has gotten very hard recently, especially near Marquette. There were only 4 places total between Big Bay and Grand Marais in total that were in the market when I found this place on market place. They were all asking extraordinary amounts, this not much at all due to the two track in likely but that’s why we liked it. There is a place just up the coast from this on the market right now, I believe 10 acres with a camper on it. I saw it on Zillow
My only challenge is that we face north and the trees are thick so if we do go that route it’s going to require some cutting. Not wanting to do a generator for sure, just due to the noise.
NICE! OUTHOUSE IS COZY😊
So tired of living in the city. What a wonderful place you have. Great job.
I'll Always Love being Retired at age 54 since January 1ST, 2007.
Nothing better than the UP and LakeSuperior love the camp!
Beautiful, envious. Enjoy
Very nice spot and cabin!! J & C
Nice cabin maybe a wood burning stove would heat your cabin
Love the sound of the lake waves ❤
Nice set up👍 I love a relaxing escape! Im in Arizona, never been past Oklahoma so everytime I see Lake Superior it always looks like an ocean to me☺️
Yes I live in northern Minnesota and I call it the ocean too cause I grew up in California on the sand !! ❤
@@TheresaLawrence-wx4mq Yep, you know what I mean Theresa ☺️👍
I was born and raised on the south shore east of Munising. If I were you I would've built that tiny house farther back from the water.
Very nice space. Sounds as though you have some great plans😊

Looks perfect. That Lake frontage, oh my! Live outside of Duluth, but love the UP. Keep on

Build your own composting toilet, it’s pretty easy. There are UA-cam videos to help guide you to what works best for you.
Amazing location, I have seen so many places along Lake Superior where access to the lake involves navigating down a cliff side.

LOVE everything “UP”! Looking forward to seeing more of your farm.

Are comditions different this year (2024).

Live on lake Ontario looks like home

I love Lake Superior and love the sound of the waves, beautiful. Did you have to use thicker window panes?
Solar power is the way to go cheaper than gas or a generator keep it simple

It’s an outhouse
A bucket of sawdust is the best composting toilet. Just don't pee in it.
