That's my Dad, Butch Macleod from the note. I remember being there as a kid when he would take us out to see where the Boys stayed during hunting season. What a cool place or is now! Wow!
Ahh, cribbage! Cabins, camping, and cribbage, the ultimate trifecta! As much as i love Michigan, there isnt quite that feel of untouched wilderness, even in yhe UP. Thanks for a view into your world!
Noah, I’ve been watching your channel for a few years now and I’m so happy you have a first mate who can keep up with your adventures! She is as hardy as any guy you’ve had on your previous adventures, and she’s not a slacker in the slightest especially after your last sea kayak adventure! Godspeed brother!
Rachel's a complete gem of a camping companion with great canoeing skills, as far as lighting candles, the jury is still out. You live in a lovely area. Terrible shame these virus's and bugs/beetles are devastating all our forests. Thanks for letting us tag along.
Great video Noah. Thanks for sharing. You captured the spirit of the cabin. I just want to send out a big thank you to the folks that make it out there. It's a great comfort to see how well visitors are taking care of the old cabin. Your pictures sure brought back a lot of memories. The restoration was from 2016 to 2021. First reno-trip, the planning debut, was in May, 2015. Depending on how you count, 38 adventurers pitched in on the project.
This is the best cabin by far, so glad i was talking about a bear barrel in the mall and ran into you the day after you got back from this trip and got to hear about the cabin! Well worth the trip for us and the wait to see the video, for some reason we enjoy the video's more when we have been to the location! If you ever want to travel with another couple...😂
I was thinking; that's awfully brave to be going canoe camping that time of year cause freeze up can happen quickly. Glad everything went well. Thanks for bringing us along.
Lovely vid as usual. FYI…when you drop your phone in the H2O, don’t “touch that dial”. As someone who has a certain spouse who too frequently leaves his cell in his pocket while fly fishing (think 2 hrs in the Margaree), leave it alone until you can stick it in a bag of rice (or other desiccant) for several days. I take along a wee bag when going on extended adventures.😂
Well, I thought for sure that I knew where this cabin is, but I must be wrong because that one isn't that far from the access point. Not a whole day paddle, I mean. But those names on the rafters are all pretty local for sure! Anyway, great video, I wouldn't have the guts to paddle this time of year (says she - and adds a log to her woodstove before going to bed).
You are very lucky to have such great people out east who maintain these cabins. I hope it's a tradition that continues. I would like to see this kind of tradition in Ontario as well. We have lots of public lands and we need to build a network of cabins for recreational purposes.
You are fortunate to live in a province that has as many remote cabins (in good shape) as you do. Good video skills and great editing. Have a good winter camping season coming up.
Nice 16 hand Rachel. I watched your video's when I lived in Alberta and now that I am back home in NS I still watch them lol. Keep up the good work guys.
I remember that long saw, my parents used it to clear the couple acres they built our cabin on then we got the Crystal Lake property in 1960. Dont remember what it was called.
Hi you both, I really enjoyed going along with the both of you. I really loved the cabin. It really nice that people take care of and do work on them, for other people to enjoy. Thanks I really enjoyed the trip. See you guys next time….🙋🏻♀️💕🙏
Spent a few days there this summer . Leaving the cabin the first lake was glass. But that second lake was a head wind the whole way back. Came out at the same place. Felt like we were on our trip again. Thanks for making this video.
Another wonderful video Noah. Thank you so much! You and Rachyl are a fantastic team and both of you make watching your videos pure joy. That cabin was so worth the trip.
Wow what a journey, beautiful spot and an awesome cabin, you two are an awesome team! Your videos are the best hands down! Stay safe!..looking forward to your next video! 🙂
I could never have my girlfriend to do something like this with me 😂 . That was quite an adventure to get to that cabin and ...come back . Getting to the summit is only a victory if you come back alive to the base camp . My cell phone is supposed to resist an immersion for 15 min in 1.5 M of water ...wont try it thought 😅 thanks for the glacial video 🥶
Hemlock wooly 'ah-DEL-jid'. With a two-person saw, you only PULL, never push. So when it is your turn to use your muscles, PULL on the handle. Then let the other person PULL it back. Also, oil the blade to protect it from rusting and to reduce friction while cutting.
You two always make being in the rain wind and snow a good time, and I'm sure it is . I like being in a cozy off grid cabin, but as far as paddling I couldn't do it !!!! That's why I get to watch these videos with both of you enjoying these adventures. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe as always
Great trip! I had a phone get wet and after I left it in a closet for a few months it turned back on (I guess it had finally dried out) so maybe not all hope is lost. No promises though haha
Great video guys. Thanks for taking us along for all of your adventures. Me and my son canoe here in Wisconsin. Nothing like what you guys do. To us it's just a dream seeing the amazing views and wild rivers you do. We love watching every adventure. It gives us fuel and a kick in the ass to go on our own. Thank you and stay safe out there
I love watching your video and winter canoe trip are pretty rare. Rachyl is awesome and we don’t mind the beep’s Thanks for that video and bring some more soon. Pat
You go to so many cabins that are beautiful and very rustic, how do you ever make yourself leave in the end. I wouldn’t want to leave some of them at all, only to get supplies that are absolutely necessary…
Great video of your adventure, really enjoyed this one, especially hearing about the many caretakers and restorers that have kept the place in it's beautiful condition. The woodstove in that cabin is a real treasure. It was made many years ago by the now defunct Lunenburg Foundry, and is their Campfire model. Cast iron in construction, it can really pour out the heat! I know, as our family heats two of our lake cabins in Nova Scotia with the very same stove. With all the outtripping you do, would highly recommend you get yourself a "ruggedized" phone, that is water proof, shockproof, and will work in extreme cold temps. Check out the Sonim XP10 ruggidized smart phone, you won't regret getting one. I'm in the bush constantly, fishing, hunting, tripping, logging, etc., and got tired of phones dying cause they couldn't survive with continous use in the outdoors. Switched to Sonim three years back, and that ended my phone problems! Not a sales pitch, just my own real world experience. Keep the quality videos coming!
Beautiful cabin and surrounds but WHOA that looked pretty darn frosty paddling out you two 😳 Must of felt so great to get warm and dry again. Love that feeling after being out in the cold 🙌 Thanks so much for bringing us!! Cheers, Barret🤎
Your girl friend is a rock star! Love the source bow scrub brush. OMG the cabin is awesome. That now saw what the f-“__k. Should be good fishing there. Holy, paddling though ice 😱. She’s an amazing paddler. Great trip and video!
I have noticed as a rule you don't give the location of these off grid cabins...Maybe that's a good thing , I'm sure if someone is really interested they'll figure out the location . You two made another great vid !
Hey everyone, thanks for watching. This was filmed last year and was Rachyl's first ever filmed trip! Please mind the bleeps, she's a Cape Bretoner!
She's great. 🤭
More Rachel!
The bleeps are the caper fairy dust :) more R and bleeps and giggles pls 🤣🤣🤣 congrats on a very impressive accomplishment 👍🏻👏👏
She is awesome.😊
Can't take the Cape Bretoner out of us haha
Rachel definitely adds another level to your videos, love seeing her take on things and the interaction of the two of you. Keep her permanently☺☺☺
Perfect couple !!!!
That's my Dad, Butch Macleod from the note. I remember being there as a kid when he would take us out to see where the Boys stayed during hunting season. What a cool place or is now! Wow!
That's so cool!
The hemlocks are beautiful
Ahh, cribbage! Cabins, camping, and cribbage, the ultimate trifecta! As much as i love Michigan, there isnt quite that feel of untouched wilderness, even in yhe UP. Thanks for a view into your world!

I remember that long saw, my parents used it to clear the couple acres they built our cabin on then we got the Crystal Lake property in 1960. Dont remember what it was called.

Nailed it! You guys were champs in that freezing spray. We’re those gashes in the canoe? Would love to hear that story!
Thanks Ken, they were gashes, though at this point it's hard to tell from what trip!
I could never have my girlfriend to do something like this with me 😂 . That was quite an adventure to get to that cabin and ...come back . Was supposed to be out in a crown land cabin right now with a couple pals bit the weather just got vile...
Such a cool video. So far here in Newfoundland the weather has fluctuated as well. Nice getaway, my wife said she'd love the cabin.
Great video guys. Thanks for taking us along for all of your adventures. Me and my son canoe here in Wisconsin. Nothing like what you guys do. Just superb! Happy new year from the uk 🇬🇧
Good to see yall ❤ that looked really cold. Good team work can wait for the next adventure ❤
Great voyage! 🖐😎👍
Dream cabin and I love the moss covered boulders around the cabin.
Getting there, setting up there, and doing all the necessary chores when you get there, aren't nearly as hard as having to leave there.
Great editing and an awesome spot! Dry suits should be on the top of your kit list for your next trip in those conditions / time of year.
Rachyl is a trooper, have you guys thought about doing a super serious but relatively short expedition?
We have
