you have the wire down the center way to close to the #2 coil. It will turn the energy hot. That is why you do not get the water to conduct in the sand. Cut the looped part off of that wire. keep the other wires you connect away from the #2 coil. also in npn it may take 20v to get the right power thats why I use a pnp for the slayer exciter. You are almost there.
