same here! i get so excited when a new video pops up! where are we going today?? what food will we eat? vending machine or restaurant! will the sea be calm??
More of this please! Not the usual tourist spots, but places even the locals know little about. I'm glad you decided to push on even when you're hard pressed on time, it's windy, and cable car out of service. It's beautiful and definitely worth it. And we all know you're gonna go for the cake no matter what, lol.
In case people didn't know how lucky catching Mt. Fuji like that: on average, there are only 25% of days in a year when you can get a clear day like that. The only time I can see Mt. Fuji is from the arriving and departing plane. And once onboard the Togendai Pirate cruise ship on lake Ashi (only the top cone protruding from the cloud covers is visible).
I once spent an entire day traveling to Hakone then to lake Ashi in hope to see Mt Fuji, only to find it completely shrouded in fog (it was a rainy day). I know what you mean, I should have spent that (precious) day in Tokyo instead...
This is right near where i live. Right next to that port is Perry's landing where Commodore Perry landed his Black ship fleet and opened Japan to trade. I was actually planning on going out Kanaya that very day but canceled due to the wind. Last time, i got stranded in a typhoon and was worried. Glad to see you in my neighborhood. Try the Oshima ferry next.
Ever since I was stationed in Oki in ‘72 I’ve wanted to come back and see as much Japan as I could. Not only the country I wanted to see but also the cutest ladies on the planet.
Love all your trips,thank-you for taking us along with you. Curious as to what you do for a job or is it just you tube that keeps you busy? Once again thanks for raising a smile every time. Regards from 🇬🇧
I thought he was gonna cancel the hike after finding put the cable car was out of service. Glad he pushed onward and upward. The view is definitely worth it. Too bad we didn't get to see the higher ground though.
1 mackerel 2 mackerel 3 mackerel! this is how I'm going to count stairs from mow on! this is my absolute favourite video so far!! the scenery was gorgeous! i love your videos so much and get excited everytime you upload a new one!! thank you for showing me the the amazing ferry system in japan!! i can't wait for your next video!!
I didn't know that you could see Mt. Fuji as large as that from the area around Tokyo. I think I understand a lot better why the mountain has as much cultural importance as it does. This was a really interesting location that I knew nothing about and seems like a fantastic trip away from Tokyo for a day.
We went travelling Japan for a month in 2019. Flying into Tokyo I saw this massive triangular thing sticking out above the clouds. It took several seconds to register, then I got so excited realising I was seeing Fujisan. I'd heard so many people say you are lucky to see it at all, so assumed this was it,my one viewing. Our Tokyo hotel room had a clear view of it, we stayed in Hakone and saw it closer up from Owakudani. We saw it on the train to and from Kyoto and many other spots we visited including in Tokyo Bay. Leaving Japan, we saw Fujisan saying a majestic goodbye to us, with the setting sun burning it red on its snow cap. In all I counted that we got fantastic views of this mighty mountain more than 20 times. 😊 I am seriously hooked on Fujisan its "my" mountain .🗻⛩
I was just thinking of you today and hoping to see a new video from you. I retired January 2019 and was just getting into all the new traveling that I could finally do now that I was retired. For 2020 I had booked us a cruise and land tour of Alaska which has been a dream bucket location. For June 2020 we were supposed to go on a transatlantic cruise followed by a week and a half in London. For 2020 we also had another cruise booked which would of taken us to Russia but everything was cancelled. With your videos I can sit back and learn about travel in Japan so when everything opens up I am ready. Also, since you love the Curry so much you should get it every time and don't worry about showing us new foods. I loved it on the other video where your finger "slipped" and you ordered it :)
Holy cow! I've been there! In the early 90's, we were in Yokosuka for about a week, and a group of us when to Nokogiri mountain while on liberty. I remember that climb and the utterly incredible view. I don't think they had the sign up then, as I didn't know that it was a quarry from the Edo Period. Thanks for bringing back a really fun memory for me.
Thank you Solo. I think the highlight (for me) was seeing Mount Fuji. I've seen it in pictures and online but it is different when you show us as I feel like I am with you. I'm not big on mackerel but anything made terriyaki style would be delicious. Thanks for the close ups of the food and the German cake. Please stay safe and can't wait for our next trip together. Thank you for the time you put into filming, editing, and adding subtitles.
So happy to see that in the more touristy places, there's English language alongside the Japanese language. It just helps outsiders to understand the menu, the places, the instructions that come on the intercoms @ the ferries, trains etc. You're lucky to be young & strong - we couldn't have made it up the staircase. But the view of Tokyo Bay is SPECTACULAR. Thank you for sharing your trip with us on youtube - we ENJOYED it very much. Thumbs up!
I love watching you travel on ferries and trains, but I also really enjoy when you take the time to explore an area and share it with us. Thank you for making such a wonderful videos. They always brighten my day!
@2:41: I'm a fan of the bicycling-themed manga&anime, "Longriders!" Brought me back to cycling after 25 years away. A most pleasant surprise to discover a standee of the main character from the show on the upper floor deck. Cheers!
I have made the trek around Tokyo bay many times as a visitor and when I lived there. I would start in Tokyo, go to Kurihama, take the Tokyowan Ferry, get off at Hamakanaya, eat at The Fish, buy Baumkuchen and Milk Manju then take the train back to Tokyo. I was always a little afraid of going into the mountain, but I will budget extra time and do it next time! Thank you!
I usually find your videos so charming and relaxing, but this video for some reason gave me some warm, fuzzy feelings, like I was feeling the goosebumps myself. Thank you for sharing this experience with us. I'll definitely keep this hidden gem in mind when I finally have the opportunity to visit Japan :)
I love to order those special lunch sets, oh my the view is beautiful up there, I think next time we go to Tokyo we will go to this place as one of our day trips, watching from the Philippines
Holy Mackerel! That was a lot of stairs! 😂 I laughed way too hard at the "One Mackerel, Two Mackerel...." 🤣 Love your videos and always look forward to the next one! I enjoy your sense of humour too! Japan is so beautiful! Thankyou for another fun excursion!
Makes my day when you upload a video. Your videos are simple yet so engaging and informative. One day I hope to visit places you have highlighted. Thank you. Cheers from 🇨🇦
A wonderful adventure! Thanks for taking time to get some good closeup on the FOOD! You are my brother when it comes to trying food! I love it! Keep up the good eating!
Fun fact: in my city there is a very famous mountain called Resegone, who means "Big saw" in italian dialect. I live in Lecco, Lombardy, Italy. Can't wait to return travel in Japan :)
Because the mountain looks like saw? 😆 Let me tell you about one from my country. There's a mount called "Tangkuban Parahu", which means "Flipped Boat". Local legend tells a story about a man who kicked a boat out of anger until it flipped. And the boat became the mount. And yes, the mount does look like a flipped boat 😄
I envy you. I wish that I could be with you on these trips and leave the world behind. These videos are bitter sweet to me. Like many of the other's have already said, I don't miss any of your videos. I really enjoy them and appreciate you sharing your adventures with us. What a stunningly beautiful place ! I bet the air smelled SO good with that wind blowing .. and the wind makes the sea look more beautiful as well.. What an amazing trip .. Thanks for taking us along with you ! : )
I wonder why people say things like ‘stunningly beautiful’ and ‘amazing’ and ‘awesome’ about a view like that. What words would they use at the top of Mt Everest or if orbiting the planet earth?
@@Mr.Monta77 Probably the same ones. What does position or size have to do with the quality of someone's personal appreciation? Grains of sand can be "amazing" and "awesome" too, don't you think?
What a great day trip, not far from metropolitan area, great place to escape from busy weekdays. When i see the map, actually you can drive around bay or crossing the bridge, but with ferry crossing you can save some energy for hiking the mountain.
I love the way everyone laughed when the ship crashed through the waves ! I think you must be very fit walking to the top of the trail ! Amazing views of the coastline and of Mt Fuji

Great to watch another of your videos, to see similarities in Japan as here (UK) and differences too, for instance the food, as a person who can't just eat anything I think food would be a challange for me.
What an amazing experience!! You didn't meet many people along the way except on the ferry, the restaurant/cafe and the ferry back so that made the experience on the top of the mountain so beautiful without a crowd of people around. This would be the best time to visit Japan without dealing with tourists, but it does make it seem eerie everywhere you've gone to film with no people around. You definitely earned your mackeral that day. I knew you'd go back for that bakery treat!! LOL.. Love videos and keep them coming.
Outstanding To See Mount Fuji. Lunch Looked Very Yummy. I Would Have Had A Kiren Beer To Wash It Down. Congrats You Made It & Still Went. Some Of The Best Views I Have Ever Seen.
This video is quite different from your other videos, still I love it. Sometimes, at the weekend, before the pandemic, I would hop on a bus and do a little trip just like this. Thank you for sharing your experience. I enjoy this video a lot.
Enjoyed the view. Thank you, as always, for taking us along and up those many steps. Perhaps you can visit again, when it’s calmer, and take the ride to the top!
Been there before too, local cuisine is great, the view is excellent. Also for Top Gear fans (the British car show), the mountain is the goal for one of the epic races between Clarkson (in a R35 GTR) vs May and Hammond (public transport)... Definitely worth visiting again
As always, loving your video and Japan’s ferry system. I can also see why the view on Nokogori reminds people of “Castle in the Sky.” It looks like when Pazu played his trumpet… ETA: My apologies for the initial spelling error.
Visited Nokogiri a few years back. There's quite a few scenic places at Nokogiri mountain. Plus there are massive rock carvings of the sitting Buddha and the standing Kanon. Very much a place of local knowledge. Not many Tokyoites visit the place. My former work peers/colleagues in Tokyo were surprised that I visited Nokogiri. Most barely knew about the place. Some were not aware of the place at all, while those that could roughly place it, they have not visited the place.
you are SO brave!! going that way , not one other person up there, Glad you are safe back!! I loved the one, two , three mackrel work-out 😅 Love and Light from Europe my Friend 💥

This was such a nice little trip. I always like seeing you take routes of travel I would be too intimidated to take since my Japanese is not very good. It's a novel experience! And that view was beautiful and relaxing; amazing as always, Solo-san.
Beautiful view from the mountain, and that fish looked delicious. All I could think when you showed the two big cities is a Kawasaki motorcycle with Yokohama tires on it...
I really love your channel. Your videos are super interesting, beautiful, funny, and of course delicious! I also find them very calming so now I always save and enjoy them with my morning coffee. Thank you for really nice way to start the day. Can't wait for your next adventure!

What a nice surprise to see Mt. Fuji so clearly on this trip.
It's a good thing you loaded up on mackerel before hitting those stairs! Wow, what a view!
“Please calm down Tokyo Bay” Don’t know why I find that so funny.
I suspect North-sea fishermen would have characterised it as a barely noticeable breeze? But it did pick up a bit later tbf.
People like to talk to things and objects as if it will listen to us lol
Lol
