Jokes don't always translate well language to language. "These comforters have great abs" made me convulse with laughter in the middle of the night. Keep up the awesome work.
The only thing I find uncomfortable is when the drool runs down my chin and then my device slip from my hands as the drool runs from my chin and down my body with the delicious looking food. Especially curry rice 😋 🤤🤤🤤
That's so crazy, the staff waving goodbye to the ship. I tried to imagine an American company doing that, and couldn't. Maybe Disney. For being about to be retired, the ferry looks nicely appointed, and well maintained. Thanks for sharing your trip; I really enjoy seeing how each ferry is different. The only person on UA-cam who can eat more than you is Mickey Chen!
When born in 1963 one cringes a bit when 2002 is considered retro. Love your channel, one of the few I can watch with out getting motion sick, you have great stabilization.
Same. It feels like you're not alone. And you're not alone! I hope they get better for you soon, and I'm glad you are finding things to help with it. You can do it!
10:25 - the moment every viewer cheered! I've known ships to be used as a ferry longer then the 20 years you say, but she's lived a hard life on her many voyages... That said, she still looks at the top of her game and will retire with pride - I shall regret not having the opportunity to sail her because older ships are a love for me because of their history
It won't be scrapped. It will most likely be sold to another Asian country, particularly Indonesia, Thailand or the Philippines. The cabins will be gutted and converted into open sleeping rooms. Some others have made it to Europe (Stena Line) and the Middle East. I would suspect some government subsidy or tax benefit in order to maintain the Japanese shipbuilding industry. This happens for many Japanese transport vehicles, including trains and private cars.
For a 20 year old ferry, they have kept this ship, ship shape. Very clean, neat, and tidy. You had a beautiful room. I would have really enjoyed the fried chicken and the dessert. Just shockingly surprised that you only had one bowl of rice! 😊 Loved the video.
I enjoy your enthusiasm, attention to detail/additional information, and your humour and genuine emotion throughout your vlogs. Thanks for sharing your journeys and experiences. Happy New Year! Cheers! 🖖
This is probably the most well-maintained older ferry I've seen you ride yet. Sooo many slippers!!! The comforter has abs. LOL!!! Thanks again for the video!!
I usually don’t eat a lot due to anxiety and it can be a struggle sometimes so whenever i watch him eat, i get happy knowing he eats well and is healthy and even sometimes i watch his videos to help me eat and it distracts me from anxiety triggers, arigato 😊✨
I wish I had thought about taking a ferry vacation while I was in Japan. I only took the ferry from Yokosuka to Chiba. I have watched you videos more than once, they make me feel like I am there! Thanks, hopefully I will be back soon!
Even though it's just text, I enjoy your personality and especially your sense of humor! Thank you and Happy New Year from Michigan, USA. Your videos capture the excitement of exploring new accommodations so well.
Starting with the lovely sunset was just wonderful! Am I the only person who waves along madly? Ha ha! The joy you bring to these videos is so apparent! I love when you walk the ship and show the little things such as the vending areas as well as the curtain wall! Love it! Stay safe and travel well! I'll follow along! Happy New Year!
My favorite part of your videos is seeing what food and beverage options you have while traveling Japan. It mostly looks wonderful, and I love seeing how different countries treat food. You could probably make videos of just food if you wanted :). Also, I love the fact that your videos don't have bad music in the background.
I’m waiting for the moment you have your glow stick redemption and get your chance to properly wave back at the staff. Absolutely love watching your videos and I look forward to each new instalment!
You know it's time to retire the ferry when the vending machines stop working. Thank you for the fun and informative videos, and safe travels in the new year!
the room reminds me of the beach houses we used to rent during the summer in new south wales when i was a kid. they all had 1950s furniture and that orange brown wood in the kitchen. major flashbacks
Waving staff!!! Thanks for the video! I loved the sunset, and the cabin looked quite confortable. The food also looked pretty good! I'm not over the fact that a ship that came into service on 2002 is considered old, since 2002 for me was just like, a couple of years ago... not over the fact that it was, in fact, 20 years ago.
Thank you Solo for another water adventure. I would have gone with a tray of gyoza followed by a second tray of the prawns - I am hungry now! Appreciate the food close ups and the detailed descriptions along with how they tasted. (my favourite part of your videos) Thanks for the New Year's Day present of another video. Hope your 2022 is great and you stay happy and healthy in your journeys.
The amenities are so good, so useful. Thank you for saying what can and can't be taken. The departure is so slow. It's cool. So many ferries - wow. And I want to use them all! Ha ha
That bed has abs & scales. I have neither either. That ferry is so clean and well maintained. She might be the old lady of the fleet, but she has nothing to be ashamed of. 12.5 hrs is a good length for a ferry trip. Get to eat, bathe, sleep, eat & get off. Not so long to become bored, but long enough to enjoy the ferry trip.
I only started seeing your videos come up recently, but am subscribed and thoroughly enjoying them! As an older, disabled woman I don't get to travel any now. Watching your videos makes me feel like I'm on the trip and enjoying the experiences! Though I don't like oriental food....still seeing all the foods, amenities, and how you thank God for the views, the food, etc, makes me remember to be more thankful for my blessings. Thank-you for the videos!!!
My first visit to Tokyo was in 1971. Very retro...right? I am more retro than the ferry in your video. Your Japan Ferry Videos are so nice. No talking. Just all that is needed for the viewer to imagine he/she is onboard. Excellent.
Yet another fantastic well maintained old ship. Even when it's about to be retired, everything is still functional as it should be. Now we'll be waiting for you to show us the new ship when it comes into service :D
Beautiful sunset. I’m glad you got an earlier start to see it. I look forward to your video on the new ship! I hope you were able to find a good place to have breakfast! Thank you, as always, for bringing us along!
Mr. Solo, thank you for making these videos so your viewers can live vicariously through you! I thought I would be able to take my first business trip (and my first time on a plane in years) this month but the new variant has made it unsafe for me to go :/ Please stay safe and go on lots of adventures for us!
Me and my wife we like your humorous comments, the detailed showing of tasty foods and we can always travel without corona fear :) . Thank a lot for that.
Hello 👋 ! Beautiful sunset 🌅. I was hoping you would see the guys waving goodbye 😊. You did have a nice cabin. But, I don’t know about the cost 💲. I always find it so interesting to see what you will be eating 🍽. Thank you for sharing with us. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas 🎄. Do you celebrate 🎉 New Years the same time we do in Canada 🇨🇦? Thank you for taking me and us on another journey and trip through beautiful Japan. I truly love all your videos. And you have a great sense of humor. So cool. Happy New Year and many more.
Another nice video! They may only be subtitled but there is a charm and snarky-ness to them that make them very enjoyable. A little insight to traveling with info, food, sunsets oh and lot of toilets and public baths(?) I thought the ship was nice even if the electronics are old. I like seating area in the cabin. The bath water looks radioactive-check for extra limbs or super hero powers.

I'm always so impressed by how spotless the crew keeps these ships, inside and out. And I think the room is very nice, the beds look comfortable and the bathtub is bigger than the bathtub that's in my house. So thank you for bringing us along on your journey so we could share in the experience as well. 😊👍 Also, lol is it a requirement that the port staff stand in the parking lot and wave till the ship is out of sight, every time it leaves port? Or was this some kind of special occasion? Just seems kind of funny and odd to me. 😁
Happy New Year and thank you for sharing this with us! I liked the pattern and shape of that tea set as well. Hopefully you can get to sail on the inaugural voyage of the new Fukuoka in March and share that with us. Thank you.
I always look for the wavers. Even on other travel channels. I kinda get a frowny face when there are none. I hope to see you actually get to use your light stick to wave back one day.
Thanks for Your videos and Happy New Year from Washington State, U.S.A. The perspective that You provide of Your Beautiful country Japan, is remarkable. I am happy to have stumbled onto Your channel. Too bad that this Vessel, The Fukuoka 2, will be retired after just 19 years of operation. She is still quite elegant and looks to be in very good shape for Her age.
Comforters with abs, a slipper collector, and a paint bath - I think you took the Comedy Central Ferry! ;) Well done. I enjoy your travelogues immensely.
Jokes don't always translate well language to language. "These comforters have great abs" made me convulse with laughter in the middle of the night. Keep up the awesome work.
Hahahaha! That was my impression as well and I literally spit out a sip of coffee it was so damn 🤣 funny.
Me too....I was cracking up, 😅😅
Same though the humor is somehow close to Filipinos hahahaha
*He knew what he was doing.*
I thought that was funny as well and spot on. 🤣
Your videos have been bringing me so much comfort, thank you so much for making them.❤️
They’re so comforting.

I second this! No anxiety attacks lately and watching Solo Travel-sama’s vids help me relax more especially at night. ❤️
Happy New Year from a fellow anxiety sufferer. It's true, the videos are so calming.
Sameeeeeee.
I’m struck by how clean and well-kept everything is. While the design is dated, that room looks like it was just built.
That's Japanese workmanship in a nutshell. ^^
10:25 - the moment every viewer cheered!

20 years in Europe would be a "youngster" under the ships, we have ships that are 40-50 years old.
