Great location - great gala and wonderful video. Genuinely grateful to see you and other making these videos so we can all see and enjoy them...
Thanks for your kind comments. You Tube is great allowing everyone to share their videos
Excellent video Austin. Great selection of locations. Looks to be a fantastic gala. A great selection of locos. Enjoyable watching. Best wishes C&A
Thank you, I could only stay a few hours so I'm sure we'll see plenty of other video action
Excellent compilation Austin, a great collection of diesels they have there, cheers 👍
Thanks Nige, yes they are better off for diesels than steam locos to be honest
Wonderful coverage of the event Austin.
Cheers Bob, safe to say things didn't go as planned on the day but at least managed a couple of shots
Excellent production as always Austin. The triple header was a spectacular sight. Regards, Dave.
Thanks Dave, definitely superpower on that one!
Great footage Austin from ELR. 👍👌
Cheers, much appreciated
Nice one Austin i was there myself today good weather for it cheers Steve.
Thanks Steve, yes not a bad day at all today so glad to have captured these few shots
Love it
Thanks for watching
Great video Austin, the ELR to me has one of the best kept diesel fleets in the country. Nice locations used and the shot at 4:28 is my favourite. Regards James
Thanks James, they definitely have a great selection of diesels. Shame the lineside is so untidy these days
Good video Austin :)
Many thanks Simon
Very nice Austin, great video work on a spot not been to since C started few years ago, did get to film KWVR which i enjoyed .
Thanks Steve, not the video I'd planned due to bullocks in the field at Burrs but not bad I suppose
Superb work as always Austin, can’t believe the shot at Brooksbottom Viaduct now as it’s nearly treed in completely ☹️
Thanks Steve, the shot has pretty much gone especially at this time of year. The whole line looks very overgrown these days
Excellent footage there Austin, really the footage at the end of the triple header?
Thanks, the triple header was a surprise as I thought the 24/25 would have been leading
Peak/25/24 triple header 🤪
Yes, I assumed the 24/25 would have been leading on the return but the Peak had run round at Rawtenstall
Austin, A fine start to the Gala with some great captures. Regards, John
Thanks John, I enjoyed the short time I was there and looking forward to seeing more coverage over the coming days
Whatever happened to the last Class 504 EMU they had in storage there?
No idea sorry
As a child, I hated diesels to the core of my being because they ‘killed’ my beloved steam locos, which, being part of a nationalised railway, all belonged to ME! But now the fear and loathing is almost all gone as I watch those same diesels in restful retirement…. Like me 🤔😉🙂.
Just the same: ‘Sound Whistle for Steam Forever!’
I feel exactly the same way Stephen and steam will always be my first love but I've always loved the sound of the early diesels
@@acw71000 Agreed: the turbocharger sound on EE Type 4s and the idling beat of Sulzer Type 2s, especially.
Steam locos also produced more appealing smells, except for that ominous, almost ‘electrical’ smell of steam discharged from draincocks on starting away. A very odd smell that’s hard to describe. Years later I noticed the same smell when they opened up the Autoclave where I was a lab technician. (A sort of giant pressure cooker used for sterilising glassware and steel instruments.)
