Once Grand 200 year Old Abandoned Federal House Down South *Beautiful Woodwork & Antiques

- This beautiful old federal house was built in the early 1800’s for one of the more prominent agrarian families in the county. Most likely the house was built between 1820-1830 but couldn’t find a ton of information. The family grew cotton and a variety of other crops. After the civil war the farm was a sharecropping farm for many decades until the early 1930’s. A few of the small old sharecroppers houses still dot the landscape and remain crumbling away nearby. From everything I could find out the house had been vacant since the late 1980’ to 1990’s. In recent years the mantles and some of the ornate woodwork along the porch has been taken. I filmed this house about 5 years ago if you’d like to see the old video I will put link below. Thanks for watching! Like and leave a comment if you enjoyed! Thank you!

This poor old girl. She was basically a conventional farm house back in the day. Looks like people came in long enough to toss stuff to the floor looking for something of value. So sad. Another great video Mr Kappy!!! Thanks for taking me along!
Yeah definitely seems like someone tossed all the things around looking for something! Thank you for the kind words and watching! :)
@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 Appreciate you Mr Kappy!
I wish we could build houses like this today. We like everything cheap and fast.
That player piano caught my eye right away. Sad nobody took care of it. Wing & Son made top quality instruments.
We have a player piano just like that one and it still kinda works. You have to help it along once in a while.
It is a player and has a brass sound board...yikes
That Wing & Son player piano was a manual pump player piano: didn't need electricity to play! With a pair of human feet, no Carrington event could silence the music that played off her rolls! What a beauty! The basic two rooms over two rooms with an ell addition. She were a comfortable abode in her time. I agree, that woodwork was nice. She were quite a few steps above plain when they built her, and after two hundred years, she still stands a proud, sturdy structure. TY for the tour, Kappy. The symphony of frogs was a nice touch!
Thanks Kappy for showing that beautiful old house. I hope someone rescues it. It's worth restoring.
Definitely is worth saving! I’d bet the bones of the old portion are great! Thanks for watching!! :)
All that lovely old furniture left to rot. And if I had a dollar for every time Kappy found a piano. Join Kappy on his third visit to this house when it is stripped of its bannister and mantels. Thanks once again for a fun explore!
I imagine children in the 1800s running up and down those stairs. Thanks for the experience!
The perfect staircase for a Dickensian Christmas morning.
I can easily imagine sitting on that porch back in the day, before car traffic, listening to the sounds of those Spring peepers! 🐸
Gotta love those spring peepers singing away! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
I always like the staircase railings in these old Federal style houses. They are a somewhat simple design yet still so elegant. Love your videos and your down-to-earth exploring style. 👍🏻
Agreed on the federal designs! Thank you very much for the kind words and watching!! :)
Some of these antiques could be saved and restored back to new condition. Shame to leave them behind when no one is coming back for them anyway. Thanks for taking us along with you.
I love older homes! Thank you for sharing Kappy. That fireplace mantelpiece is probably in a lovey home restored and saved from destruction.🕊️
Thank you for doing these videos. Sparks a lot of imagination. You see the young ladies of old coming down the stairs for piano practice. Old furniture pieces. Evenings on the front porch. Just quieter times.
Very well said! Especially love when they have minimal updates and remodels! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
How about we sit on that front porch, sip a glass of sweet tea and listen to those peepers? 🤣😂. Thanks for the updated video, your the best! 🌻
Agreed! Love the sound of the spring peepers! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
Another beautiful place to add to my favorite list. I think you are spot on with the era regarding the furniture. Thank you Kappy.
Really appreciate that!! Thank you so much for the kind words and watching!! :)
Just something about those old farm houses....memories attached to them...the family's that live in them...
You really have to wander about the mentality of people who go into these beautiful homes just to vandalise such a shame thank you for sharing view from Australia.
Crack and Meth heads no doubt.
The porch gingerbread and the mantle are both missing. Someone went nuts with the paneling. I think you're right about the furniture. This is another beautiful old house that wasn't appreciated and treated right. What a pity.
For being 200 yrs old it still has some good bones and savable qualities. That sewing machine is from the late 50- early 60s. I seen an old can opener in the kitchen from the 70's not so sure about the furniture but thinking turn of the century. Have a great day and safe travels
Urbex Exploring with kappy thanks for sharing this video with me about the once Grand 200 year old Abandoned Federal House Down south * Beautiful woodwork & Antiques it was a really nice video my friend and God Bless.
These beautiful old homes have so much "Charm" compared to the newer homes of today. I would say that the China Buffet in the dining room is around vintage 1920's 1930"s you are right on target with the years, great video very enjoyable! 😄
That is a Player Piano. The furniture is from 1880 to 1890. The house isn't really not that bad. With the right renovation you make it a very nice and comfortable home to live in.
Another Nice Find Kappy!... An old abandoned Country Gem saved by a Tin Roof... 👍🙂
It’s a shame it’s being neglected. If I had to guess I’d date it to abt 1825. The furniture you commented upon at 6:26 looks like a lot of mass produced waterfall veneer that was often sold in mail order catalogs in the 1920s/30s. My favorite part of this is the elegant staircase. This was a fun explore and I enjoyed the insert photos of your prior visit. Thank you for taking us along!
I would love to sit on that porch and just enjoy nature. What a beautiful house ! Thank you Kappy
Well said! Me too! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
4:41 So good to know the fireplace surround and mantle were used in a home which showed its beauty and wasn’t surrounded by decay.
Sunday morning, breakfast with Kappy and old - antique-vintage. 😅 Very nice! Thank youuuu 😊
Thank you very much for watching!! :)
There is still beauty in the old girl! She has seen better day’s! Awesome video Kappy. ❤️👍🤘
Very true! Thank you so much for the kind words and watching! :)
Hey there's a ladder in that out building! Attic access 😉 but seriously there doesn't look in bad shape. Someone save this house!
The old trees that you see on your drive up the drive way are gorgeous.
Hi Kappy once again an awesome old beauty an I love everything about it the staircase was amazing an that vintage sewing machine was early sixties, my mom had a peice of furniture like the dresser an the mantel on the fireplace unbelievable. Theirs been so many homes I've watched of yours an dreamed how they must have looked when families lived there. Thanks again for sharing such an amazing home ❤
Agreed! That vintage sewing machine was too cool! Thank you for the kind words and watching!!
I remember those cheap aluminum screen doors. My folks had one on the house just like that. I went away for a while and returned to finish watching. I got a happy feeling about this house, did you?
Such a pretty place. Love that mantle you zoomed in on Kappy. I know it’s stealing to take anything from abandoned property. But who would you ask if you wanted to reuse something/buy something? I just hate seeing beautiful antiques, mantles etc sit there & waste away. But it definitely is stealing. Such a conundrum 🤦🏻♀️Thanks Kappy. Stay safe
I love that driveway! My dad’s distant relatives owned a place in Virginia near the Chesapeake bay. The driveway was exactly like that. I miss that place.
This was another great find Kappy !! I do enjoy watching your vedios and listening to the history of these great finds.... I think this house was really beautiful back in the day. I can imagine sitting on the front porch and listening to all the sound ds of nature while drinking a cold glass of tea or a hot cup of coffee as the sun sets or rises...
What beautiful furniture that.was left . And the staircase was perfect !!
The wood woodwork and the fireplace mantels were beautiful too !!
To bad the house itself couldn't talk and tell its stories...
Thanks for sharing this house again with us Kappy !!
See you on the your next exploration.
Take care and stay safe out there !!!
This old home is definitely in fine shape for it's age & should be restored. Love the wide floorboards! Some of that furniture looked to be mid 1800s! Again thanks for the tour & looking forward to the next one!😊
Thank you Kappy! You always see the beautiful details no matter how much decay surrounds it. A fine quality. Now I am inspired to do some more spring cleaning…because, apparently, maintenance is everything!😂
Yes; thank you for inspiring me. ☺️😅👍
Hi Kappy!! Thank you for the revisit to this amazingly beautiful place. Oh if those walls could talk. I can just imagine all the hustle and bustle and the kids running around. That amazing furniture! Oh wow! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!!!
Thank you very much for the kind words and watching!! :)
That wizard sewing machine is being sold online from anywhere of 100 to 200 bucks. they were made for only a couple years by western auto. From what i read they are excellent machines and run very quiet. solid metal too.
Its a shame that people do not see the value in the items left behind. i love antiques and would love the old vanity upstairs in that house. Only thing is is i do not see the mirror. Not sure if it was on the floor behind it. I miss going to abandoned properties and nosing around like you do. I probably would have brought the pepsi bottles home with me. I love pepsi stuff and its harder to find than coke stuff.
In my mind I could see that space at the head of the stairs as being a great place for kids to play quietly or read. The only thing that would make it better would be a 2nd story balcony. :)
Love the little trunk room upstairs with bedroom areas. ❤
Another grand old lady, so sad people just left it. This lady could tell stories about days gone by. Thank you for showing us these amazing finds of our history of homes of days long ago.
I'd love to see these places new.
Hopefully someone could restore this old house someday hate to see it get torn down.
Yes please add the older link as well. I want to see the differences.
I wanted to see your ninja skills jumping up to the attic. LOL Good one mate!
Oh goody!! Just got home from a long day at work; ready to settle in & watch !!
Kappy, you take enough chances!! We're fine with you staying safe. I thought this looked a little bigger on the outside than it was inside.
love the video, the sound of the leaves crushing under your feet, from yorkshire granny uk
My pre-Rev English ancestors used to live in New Bern, on the coast not too far from where he's at.
If walls could talk. Lovely home!!
What a cool house. Reminds me of the house from the TV show The Waltons. Appreciate what you do Kappy!
It’s beautiful Kappy! Love the porch! Me and my porches! Lol! The old screen door! My grandparents had one like that. I can imagine people gathered around the piano singing Christmas songs. I don’t understand why so many leave behind such treasured antiques. There’s just to many amazing features to mention. Thanks Kappy! Please stay safe!😊
Agreed it really is a mystery to me why so much beautiful antiques and houses are left behind! Thank you so much for the kind words and watching!! :)
I really love the simpler, more basic adornment of the Federal period. I guess I really like all styles, it's kind of like having many different sorts of people at a party. I'm going to check out your previous visit to this house later. Your videos are always great.
Hey Kappy, maybe I'm just seeing things, but it looks like you've got an alien face starring up at you from the floor, just below the window, @ 5:46!
The two old furniture pieces at 6:36 both have melon bulb legs. Tudor or Elizabethan revivals probably 1890's to 1930's. I'd speculate the earlier end of the range. Three old Pepsi bottles, "No Coke, Pepsi".
Looks like the right side of the house was added sometime later.
I adore this! Thank you so much! The history and love!💕 thank you so so much Kappy
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
What a quaint yet stunning staircase ❤ she appears to have good bones thanks for another wonderful video
What a beauty!
I love your videos and on this one, EVERY house I fell in love with and wanted to adopt❣️ The surrounding land was also soooooo beautiful 😍
Beautiful scenery shots also, loved them all!
I love My weekly dose of Kappy
Haha i appreciate that! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
Thanks! ☺
That was a upright grand player piano. I hate when people leave those old pianos to go to the ruins. Someone would have loved to have that piano.
There are still a few of this style around my area. People tend to live in the additions and close off the old fronts. Not sure why. Lack of or poor electrical maybe. The Kerosun box brought back memories. Everyone had those back in the day. We sure did. Got cold in winter in old homes. Loved the sound of the frogs. My dad called them peepers. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Too funny! My mom’s always called them spring peepers since I was a kid! Thank you very much for watching and the kind words!! :)
I'm a native of Hammond Louisiana which is 45 miles from Baton Rouge and New Orleans either way. My grandfather was a dairy farmer and at one time a sugar cane farmer. There is a house back in the woods that looks just like this. Beautiful and lost in time. I love your videos. Thank you for allowing my mind to escape homelessness and fear.
God bless you❤

Wow 😲 awesome 😎💯 explore kappy I'm glad there was no vandalism you never showed the front door or the ceilings
I believe the front door wasn’t original sorry about that! Thank you very much for watching! :)
If people knew the whole history of this house it would be revered as a local treasure. Our country was only a couple of generations in and this building was witness to that and everything since. There are countless stories in those walls.
3:54 THE FLOORING! Show the flooring regardless if it is carpet/rug, wood, and especially in the closets where flooring changes are not likely to change.
This hous is wonderful❤.Thanks
Awesome! Love the staircase. I wish someone had saved the old furniture. It would have made a cool Bed & Breakfast if maintained.
A very nice place land amd all.👍❤️
Good morning Kappy! Thanx 4 another great vid. Interesting wagon wheel light fixture on the ceiling by the front door! What a great house. Stay safe out there.
Hey Kappy. I love how the bottom of all the windows are molded out with a panel-so pretty. Cool explore as always! Thanks & have a happy weekend!
wow awesome again LOVED THE OLD FURNITURE AND NICK NACKS TO i plan on going to yellow dog this summer
Wow! And still standing. How about the wagon wheel chandelier in the foyer? I wonder too how old the furniture was downstairs. I don't see how you resist not taking things... I know that's stealing!!!, but still. That sewing machine would just have to come home with me🤣🤣🥰
I believe that is a player piano. You can see where you put the rolls in front, and the foot pedals to make the air pump go. I'm always amazed at the wood that is still as whole and straight as the day it was cut.
Nice touch with the before and after 😊
Glad you enjoyed! Thank you for watching!! :)
beautiful house pretty furniture in it😊
The place a mess but you can see the beauty. I would love to see the makeover. 😊
Alot of neat stuff just going to sit there and go to waste i love that ol wardrobe in the beginning..its a shame really that so many nice ol homes like this that are wasting away..good video buddy good to see you.
2:44 love the ceramic goose/duck/swan above the fireplace!
those were the days, weren't they! definitely reminded me of better times, when the geese images were in style.

You're welcome❣️❤️⚘️
Thank You, for filling my mind, and soul with the loving care given to those humble, sentient beings surrounding you.
((( Hugs ))) & Kisses,
to them all, for me. ❤
It's still beautiful.
That looks like a player piano. Could be played with rolls with cut outs for notes or played manually
the upstairs hallway must have been a stunning sight as you make the turn & meet a roaring fire 🔥 in the fireplace at the opposite end.
What an old beauty Kappy. 200yrs old, that's impressive. Shame about the fireplace. Jerk vandals. Love the staircase. Never heard of Wizard. Usually we see Singer sewing machines. Interesting. Awesome Kappy, you radar found a real gem here.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love this old farmhouse and I miss the frogs sound winter here in New York yet ty
It's interesting so much stuff was left. It would have been nice to see it before it got ransacked. All in all, it really is such a fabulous house and someone needs to take care of it. Nice explore!!✨
Completely agreed! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
really enjoyed that I loved the history in all your videos thx
That fireplace would have been a Rumford fireplace. Compared to todays fireplaces, they put out a tremendous amount of heat.
I want that goose on the mantle. It goes with my gosh cookie jars.
Love the old style screen door😊
Sad to see these old houses languishing for lack of love. So many people with money just don't care.
I absolutely love what you do, but please measure out at least one room so we know how large that space really is. You do an excellent job of getting everything, I can't wait to see more of your videos, thanks in advance 0:00
Get me a broom and a dumpster, I would like to start cleaning it out. Great video!
Love when you go back and visit these places, I always see something new and it's like visiting a friend. The old nails above the mantlepiece, probably for hanging Christmas stockings, are so sweet. Beautiful windows, staircase, mantlepieces and woodwork. I love Federal & Colonial style homes, they're so elegant and just ooze history. And they're full of the energy of generations of happy homeowners. I wonder if the beautiful bride in the photo by the sewing machine sewed her own dress with that machine. Thanks as always for your videos, they help me recenter after a long work week. Take care out there!

Good one Kappy 👍
Thank you for watching! :)
That player piano is worth 1000s depending on the condition and if it can be restored. Looks like someone took the kitchen sink, too.
Thank you for your explorations!
Wow how interesting!! Shocked it’s left! Thanks for sharing the info and watching!! :)
Have you done videos of the houses you show at the end of each episode? I am very impressed with your work, keep on keeping on! Thank you, Kappy.
All upcoming videos! Will be out in next few weeks! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
Thankyou for sharing.
Thank you very much for watching!!
I sense this grand old home once had a lady who loved it and took care of it. Once she passed away, everything was left behind to be tossed around by vandals. That swamp would be a nightmare of mosquitoes
It does seem like a happy place. that can still be rehabilitated. It should be rented by people who will take care of it. As long as you're driving you could get there.🌿. Also, I think you can still buy an older nice fireplace surround for the missing one in the living room. We see them for sale a lot .
I hear those peepers! Thanks for the ride along! 😊
