Yes I hear it too. I thought at first I was imaging it. Play it back and yes I heard it. I grew up in western Morris County (NJ). Our church sat on 40 acres, most of which was being leased to a local dairy farmer. Across the road, way back behind the pasture, there was an abandoned house that was smaller than the one in this video, but in about the same condition. In recent years I learned that it was our church's original parsonage, from before the newer one was built in the 1870s or 1880s. The newer one was never abandoned. The older one must be down to nothing by now. Anyway, it's awesome the rising sun was still there. It would have been interesting to send your drone up those stairs, if it can be controlled that precisely. I loved that church and cemetery afterward. I'll see if I can look it up on the website, Historic Rural Churches of Georgia.
That was a great exploration of what was a nice home. Dan is always a great addition to your explorations, very knowledgeable. You made me wanna yell at you going near those steps, sketchy ain't even close to that. I had a ancestor settle in Talbot County. He was a Methodist minister and blacksmith. Oh, that was wonderful. I wonder if they would let the Old Byrd Farm purchase the sun and some of the usable pieces like the transoms etc.. Maybe use as a garden feature with a plaque of where and how it came to obf
This is so cool to see! This is my grandmother's great great grandfather's home. My family still has pictures if the old home. My parents got to visit it nearly 25 years ago, I wish I could have seen it then.
🇨🇦my mom used to recite this poem. I thought it was the house on the road to suffering. Anyway the show puts me in mind of it. Thank you for this story. The House with Nobody In It by Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918) Whenever I walk to Suffern along the Erie track I go by a poor old farmhouse with its shingles broken and black. I suppose I’ve passed it a hundred times, but I always stop for a minute And look at the house, the tragic house, the house with nobody in it. I never have seen a haunted house, but I hear there are such things; That they hold the talk of spirits, their mirth and sorrowings. I know this house isn’t haunted, and I wish it were, I do; For it wouldn’t be so lonely if it had a ghost or two. This house on the road to Suffern needs a dozen panes of glass, And somebody ought to weed the walk and take a scythe to the grass. It needs new paint and shingles, and the vines should be trimmed and tied; But what it needs the most of all is some people living inside. If I had a lot of money and all my debts were paid I’d put a gang of men to work with brush and saw and spade. I’d buy that place and fix it up the way it used to be And I’d find some people who wanted a home and give it to them free. Now, a new house standing empty, with staring window and door, Looks idle, perhaps, and foolish, like a hat on its block in the store. But there’s nothing mournful about it; it cannot be sad and lone For the lack of something within it that it has never known. But a house that has done what a house should do, a house that has sheltered life, That has put its loving wooden arms around a man and his wife, A house that has echoed a baby’s laugh and held up his stumbling feet, Is the saddest sight, when it’s left alone, that ever your eyes could meet. So whenever I go to Suffern along the Erie track I never go by the empty house without stopping and looking back, Yet it hurts me to look at the crumbling roof and the shutters fallen apart, For I can’t help thinking the poor old house is a house with a broken heart.
Was there a female with you? At 23:03 after Dan says no not at this point a female whispers I disagree!!!! After Robert asks the question is there anything up there to look at. Please listen people and tell me if I’m crazy or if there was a female with them.
Thank you, Dan and Robert, for taking us to see this amazing piece of history of Talbot County, Georgia. What a beautiful home that it must have been! Daredevil Robert!! That look on your face when that sounds was behind you!!😂
In anyone's honest opinion, what contributed to the house's current condition? Weather? Tornadoes? Ice storms? The walls are pretty impressive - strong. Maybe not the strength but the structure. It's old and worn (like me! ha!) but still has a lot of substance and historical significance. Now the church! The cemetery! Beautifully kept up.💕 Thank you for sharing! The House Of The Rising Sun motif is still a beauty! What a gorgeous piece of history!💛
Hello Robert and Dan it's a shame nobody could have save the house 🏠 it even makes me sad to see it but at least you found the rising sun 🌄 panel it looks in good shape I hope they can save it definitely deserve to be saved I wish that the house could be the same but it's gone too far that's what I like about the south history thanks Robert for sharing Andrew south wales uk 👍 👌 😀 🇬🇧
That is so awesome that you guys are taking up the history of that house and documenting it. It’s really a shame a lot of these old plantation homes are dying out. We have one in Virginia that was on 3600 acres eight bedrooms three stories it was beautiful when I was a kid and now it’s so dilapidated you can’t even walk through it or fireplace in every room just a beautiful place the original owner built it in 1766 all brick but the roof and the floors are gone really sad
23:04 Robert you have a female whispering “it’s Great” this was the time you said there’s nothing at the top of these stairs worth seeing! You caught a ghost! 👻👍♥️♥️♥️♥️
This is beautiful!! I love how y’all are keeping southern history preserved and alive. IT IS THE PAST AND WE CANNOT CHANGE THE PAST!! We can only change the future. Thank you for doing this. Laura, Northeastern KY
Saving the Rising sun would be fantastic! A job to get it out of there though. Please stay safe guys. Thank you for taking me along. I enjoyed the whole video.❤😊
There’s still a lot of architectural salvage in what’s left of the structure. If you can get permission I do think it would be worth your while. It does make you appreciate how lucky we are to have the old houses that have survived intact.
No that was really cool. Maybe the design on the head stone was made to represent creek art. And are you going to ask for permission to get the rising sun porch cap. That was a lot of work and should be preserved. Thank you Dan and Robert for sharing
When you ask if there's anything at the top of the stairs worth looking at,there is a woman's voice whispering. An evp. I've replayed it several times. Creepy!
This is the second video of theirs I see and I must say it feels like a little vacation from the craziness of today. I enjoy the simplicity and craftsmanship of early home design and construction. My house was built in 1900 and it stands strong. Has had modern electrical upgrades and facade work but it is a pretty cool piece of history that I’m proud of.
The female voice definitely said, "I disagree." I have always been skeptical about EVPs (because, come on, people tend to hear, or not hear, what they want, and there are usually multiple interpretations about what was supposedly said), but that is probably the clearest EVP I've ever heard. In fact, it immediately reminded me of the time the disembodied voice of a young girl whispered in my ear when I was houseshopping with a real estate agent. It was obvious when we walked in because lights all over the house were flickering, and the front door was moving back and forth "on its own." I'll never forget what the girl said. "You wouldn't like it here." NOT the stereotypical, "GET OUT!" Just, "You wouldn't like it here." The air was electric in that place. The whole time, the real estate lady just stood by that door that never stopped moving, her eyes wide in fear and amazement. Finally, she said, "Well, I guess this isn't the house." So we left, but I warned her when we set out that afternoon that I am "a sensitive," and, "If there's anything in any of these houses, I'll know it." And I'm pretty sure 'they' saw me coming too, because at first, the front door wouldn't even open, despite the fact that we had the correct key. Later, over the phone, I asked the real estate lady if that kind of thing had ever happened in all the years she'd been showing houses. She said, "Never." No one has to believe me, but that's what happened. God's truth.
So happy, Robert that you and Dan went here to see this old house of the rising sun, and to be able to cut tholugh the Westeria and FIND the rising sun, and to still have those memories..Shame that you could not take that and attach it to the Old Byrd Farm..still looks like it is in decent shape..HOW did the front porch section with the rising sun, get so far away from where the house?? Looks more l;ike people took it off and laid it down, more than westeria taking it down..suxh a shame that is almost gone. I am also happy that you chickened out form the stairs as well..very intersting cemetery. thank you both Robert and Dan for this Cemetery visit, as well.
Was such a beautiful piece of history what a target thing to see it falling down 😢so very sad. Thank you for sharing this with us before it's all gone .
That is awesome y'all found the namesake of the house. Try to save it. It's such a sad fate for the house. I'm glad the Old Byrd Farm didn't succumb to that. That's crazy the other chimney is standing. Dan, Robert is 1/2 of "2 idiots in a ditch." LOL
The Tingley family were gravestone carvers and my ancestors. Thomas Tingley (1667-1724) lived in Attleboro, MA and his house from 1723 still exists there. Other family members later moved to Providence and continued the trade. Samuel (1752-1846) his sons Silvanus(1782-1854)and Samuel( 1785-1869)were known for their fine carvings that included urns and willows. It was a wonderful surprise to see this gravestone in Georgia!
Samuel showed under his father finally populated result in database. He is a 7th x 6 removed cousin from Harper/Collier in common. My one 11th Greats in common are over Peabody. I believe lower I had about a 6th Freeman/Robinson who recently were linked to their family or I'd have another cousinship show. Fun! Roderick was a 10th but did say Talbot, GA area...wasn't sure I had the right one.
How and why in the world did the owners let this happen?? So sad, you know the house would qualify for the register of historic places. There's funding through that designation to stabilize and save these treasures. I hate to see our Georgia history just crumbling down to the ground and so few people seem to care.
I enjoyed this video so very much Robert and am of the opinion that so many have expressed to save the artwork of the Rising sun. It's a piece of history!!
Fantastic! The house is in crumbles, overgrown and forgotten but if walls could talk. The history and the imagination runs to wondering "what happened here?" 😮 That tall chimney had a big hearth...looks like the original house was much sturdier than the additions the picture showed, I wandered if fire at the back of the house may have damaged it . Would also be interesting to do some digging and metal detecting.
As always, I was mesmerized by this exploration of this plantation house and graveyard. Thank you, gentlemen, for sharing your enthusiasm and knowledge!
I just stumbled upon this video and read comments about the whisper of a woman saying “I disagree”. I’m watching on my phone, I put my phone close to my ear and I did hear it. I wonder whom or what it was 🧐
It would be wonderful if someone could take that Rising Sun motif and fix it like new , restore it and repaint it. It may not be be worth anything as far as money goes, but the history and the memories behind it is priceless. Thank You Robert and Dan for these kinds of videos.❤
I’ve visited this house before and it was absolutely beautiful! I found it on my way to Talbotton in 2018 and stopped and took several pictures of it, it’s a shame UA-cam won’t let me attach a picture to this comment. I passed by it again a few months ago, and was extremely saddened to see how much it had deteriorated. So sad to see such a historical landmark falling into ruin. Would love to see the rising Sun. Pediment saved!

The House with Nobody In It
by Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918)
Whenever I walk to Suffern along the Erie track
I go by a poor old farmhouse with its shingles broken and black.
I suppose I’ve passed it a hundred times, but I always stop for a minute
And look at the house, the tragic house, the house with nobody in it.
I never have seen a haunted house, but I hear there are such things;
That they hold the talk of spirits, their mirth and sorrowings.
I know this house isn’t haunted, and I wish it were, I do;
For it wouldn’t be so lonely if it had a ghost or two.
This house on the road to Suffern needs a dozen panes of glass,
And somebody ought to weed the walk and take a scythe to the grass.
It needs new paint and shingles, and the vines should be trimmed and tied;
But what it needs the most of all is some people living inside.
If I had a lot of money and all my debts were paid
I’d put a gang of men to work with brush and saw and spade.
I’d buy that place and fix it up the way it used to be
And I’d find some people who wanted a home and give it to them free.
Now, a new house standing empty, with staring window and door,
Looks idle, perhaps, and foolish, like a hat on its block in the store.
But there’s nothing mournful about it; it cannot be sad and lone
For the lack of something within it that it has never known.
But a house that has done what a house should do, a house that has sheltered life,
That has put its loving wooden arms around a man and his wife,
A house that has echoed a baby’s laugh and held up his stumbling feet,
Is the saddest sight, when it’s left alone, that ever your eyes could meet.
So whenever I go to Suffern along the Erie track
I never go by the empty house without stopping and looking back,
Yet it hurts me to look at the crumbling roof and the shutters fallen apart,
For I can’t help thinking the poor old house is a house with a broken heart.
Wow, just wow 😥.
I love this.
Was there a female with you? At 23:03 after Dan says no not at this point a female whispers I disagree!!!! After Robert asks the question is there anything up there to look at. Please listen people and tell me if I’m crazy or if there was a female with them.
I just commented - I heard something too! Kind of sounds like “ice cream” haha, I know, but definitely something!
No woman was with them. It was spirits voice. 😮
Absolutely heard the woman’s voice, gave me instant chills!
Yep 8 sure heard it too!!
Beautifully kept up.💕
Thank you for sharing!
The House Of The Rising Sun motif is still a beauty! What a gorgeous piece of history!💛
Water is the enemy, it destroys everything. Once the roof goes it’s all over.
Or she said I disagree ! 😁
Oh my days, at 23.05 just after you say there's nothing to look at a woman's voice whispers "I disagree"
My bad it's @23.04
This is beautiful!! I love how y’all are keeping southern history preserved and alive. IT IS THE PAST AND WE CANNOT CHANGE THE PAST!! We can only change the future. Thank you for doing this. Laura, Northeastern KY
@3:02 it’s PRICELESS that you’re capturing this piece of history.
Saving the Rising sun would be fantastic! A job to get it out of there though. Please stay safe guys. Thank you for taking me along. I enjoyed the whole video.❤😊
I enjoyed seeing it when you and Dan went last year. You two are a good team on the local history and all the people who lived there.
Love your videos. May the lord bless and protect you and bringing out the past history
It's so sad to see these old houses falling apart and down 😢😢😢😢. I wish the other family would have taken care of them
Wow, someone needs to get that rising sun piece from the woods and that door. Just beautiful. Thank y'all for sharing. Love from Albany Georgia 🌞
Thank you Robert and Dan.
Loving these little longer videos!! Keep doing good works
I really enjoy y'all's videos and the history lessons that go along with it 👍🏻🤍
Its sad that no one was able to save such a beautiful house.
Good to see you Dan 😊
Makes me sad to see such a piece of history totally destroyed by abandonment. Breaks my heart. Such stories it could tell.
This was being used as a hunting camp in the early to mid 1980s. I used to hunt right down the road from there.
I heard it too! She said, “I disagree “
Great Video at 23.04 you hear a lady speak sound like she saying i disagree
Hello Mr Dan and Robert.
It’s always interesting seeing in your videos when people have the same birthday as I do. Great vids. Take care.
Awesome poem someone shared. I’m keeping it to read always
Many of my family (father's side) were in Massachusetts.
Thanks Robert and Dan! Love how Dan was so calm when he said “ I don’t think this is a good idea! 😂
The rising sun is iconic!!!it needs to be saved!!!so glad you uncovered that porch roof!!!some beautiful works!!
Some of those old boards could be repurposed
so sad to see the remains of the house, wonderful grave markers! hope your cleaning preserves them all.
How and why in the world did the owners let this happen?? So sad, you know the house would qualify for the register of historic places. There's funding through that designation to stabilize and save these treasures. I hate to see our Georgia history just crumbling down to the ground and so few people seem to care.
Unfortunately we now live in a throw away society.
I enjoyed this video so very much Robert and am of the opinion that so many have expressed to save the artwork of the Rising sun. It's a piece of history!!
@23:04 😮 you hear a lady say "i disagree" I love watching these episodes it amazes me how you hear voices in the background
Good to be back and see you two doing what you do best! I love your channel!!
😊👋🇺🇲🇨🇭🏴☠️👍 thx for interesting & entertaining shows of old landmarks!
Just so sad. Thank you both for sharing.
As always, I was mesmerized by this exploration of this plantation house and graveyard. Thank you, gentlemen, for sharing your enthusiasm and knowledge!
Another great video! I love learning about the history of these places.
I heard the woman's voice whisper "I disagree" too, very clearly.
Definitely heard it!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you do the history of your explorations!!!!❤
that was awesome.. i love it...
Awesome 👏 video share✊💯I appreciate historical information ❤️💯🧐
Just after you say there's nothing worth looking upstairs right a women is heard saying I disagree.
Love these sights! Thanks
I just stumbled upon this video and read comments about the whisper of a woman saying “I disagree”.
I’m watching on my phone, I put my phone close to my ear and I did hear it.
I wonder whom or what it was 🧐
@13:56 I like that you were able to show us the true image of the home.
It would be wonderful if someone could take that Rising Sun motif and fix it like new , restore it and repaint it. It may not be be worth anything as far as money goes, but the history and the memories behind it is priceless. Thank You Robert and Dan for these kinds of videos.❤
Very enjoyable and informative video ! Thank you Robert and Dan.
Excellent places !!! Thanks for the tour guys...
Thanks for doing all the hard work so we can explore with you. 😊
This is the first time that i could actually hear "the voice" on one of these videos.
That rising sun is stunning. Thanks for the story and video 8:49
