The Incredible Totally Packed 200 year old Jones House Down South Along the Coast

- Built in the early 1800’s around 1810-1820 in a beautiful large federal style house, probably considered huge for back in the day. Was a very large old house that still features all the old details like original staircase, newel post, dental molding, huge original fireplaces with Flemish bond brick work and so much more! The attic also was especially cool since it along with the rest of the main house had never really been remodeled only added onto. Thank you for watching! So glad I could document this historic old house on film and share with you all. Thank you!
If I had money I'd make it my mission to go across the country and save all these old historic dilapidated houses.
Me too! Wish I was a millionaire! I figure the next best thing I can do is atleast document these old places on video! Thank you for watching! :)
I agree friend it's a shame to let them rot.
so much valuable Life still to be experienced in so many of them. they are waiting for memories to be made in them.
Me three!
You really need to catch them before they get this far gone - which still leaves plenty of scope to rescue beautiful old buildings,
WOW!! It is just heart breaking that these old amazing homes are just left to rot. It makes me soooo sad. They where built so much better than todays builds.
Most of what I've seen slapped up lately probably won't last more than a couple decades. Even "expensive" houses, the newer ones I've seen have zero personality, white walls, plastic floors, no woodwork, huge echo chambers without any craftsmanship. Yuck.
@@williebeamish5879 Exactly!
@@williebeamish5879 I agree. It’s like cardboard pretty much
You can bet the keys are gone on that piano because they were ivory! How sad that somebody felt it was necessary to ransack Grandpa's/Grandma's house (walkers. wheelchair ramp on the porch, the bed moved to the lower level, and the sittin' chair on the porch) and throw all their belongings all over! The woodwork and furniture are absolutely beautiful, and all hand done too. Kappy there were at least two updates done, the addition of an indoor bathroom and electricity! Thank you for taking me to places I would otherwise never see, I'll be back next week!
Good point on the piano keys and updated of electric and bathroom! I’m sure the whole kitchen bay was a 40’s or 50’s addition but atleast they kept the main old house intact! Even the bathroom was a pop out room which was probably once a back porch. Thank you for watching and good eye! :)
Oh good point. Did you know they used mammoth ivory back then. It was so plentiful after the discoveries of mega fauna in the permanent frost.
It's an old player piano too.
Lol! I wonder how many times we all said “ holy cow “ with Kappy! Lol! This one is sooooo beautiful! I’m loving the porch!! Love the glass doors as well. It almost looks like maybe someone died and everything was just left behind. So every sad, such beautiful memories. Thanks Kappy !! Stay safe and can’t wait for the next amazing find! 😊
Very true! I couldn’t help myself! Place was incredible!! Thank you for the kind words always and much appreciated for watching Melissa! :)
I was just thinking how much I love those “wows” and “holy cows.” If I get distracted and I hear one I have back up the video. ❤
There needs to be a "holy cow" count !!!
I have adopted his: Oh Man! I love Kappy.
I don’t. I say “open it Kappy, look inside” and then “rrrrrrrr”
The Formica table and chair set on the second floor I would love to have. This place was incredible. The rooms were (mostly) decent sizes. Would love for this to be saved.
I was thinking the same exact thing, those red and white chairs were awsome...
me too!
Wow! Thank you so much Kappy! What a beautiful old home! I noticed many orbs, whatever they are. Do you ever feel a presence or seen a ghost in any of your visits to these beautiful homes? Your channel is my happy place! Love & hugs to you and Ruby 😘🫂🫂❤️🌹👍👍👍👍
Those are not orbs it's dust or bugs.
They where orbs!
This one is so big and beautiful!!! This one needs to be saved before it’s to far gone. Thank you Kappy!!!
Wow Kappy! I loved that place! Some bad paint choices, but awesome wood details. Cool old and retro furniture as well. I loved how the upstairs porch had side windows. Very cool. Thanks again for an awesome explore. ✌️
I thought that was a fascinating detail as well! Reminded me of the porches in Charleston South Carolina! Thank you for watching! :)
The paint choices reminded me of an old farmhouse I lived in in Upstate New York the old woman before me was colorblind it was quite a color scheme but I liked it
I loved those red and white old kitchen chairs upstairs in the hall...
Gorgeous gorgeous house in a gorgeous state! I really wish the historical society would save these houses. Thanks for the video!
Kappy…you are the very best at what you do! I tried watchin a different explorer because I’d seen all yours. But ya know what? I’ll watch your reruns anyday over the others that swing that camera like a ball bat, never givin us time to really see anything! Thank you so much for takin us with you!🥰
You’ve hit a home run with this one, Kappy! I love it. It’s easy to look past the debris and see what an elegant old house still survives in spite of the neglect. I am of the opinion that the front porch is likely 1900 and the kitchen addition much later. If I had to guess I would say the floors and wainscot were southern yellow pine under all that paint. It was great to see the scratch bead siding still on survives on the exterior. I’d love to restore a gem like this some day. Thank you for sharing !!
Much appreciated for the kind words and watching! :)
I like the dining chairs this looks like something I could use
The dining chairs are latter back, cane bottom chairs. The chairs are nice but they tip backwards easily and are not good for children or someone that likes to lean back in their chair
@@Lea941 that’s interesting too know! Thanks for sharing! :)
Oh sorry it's just that I have a set of two that are similar to this
@@nightflyer914 I love the look of the chairs too! I’ve had 6 latter back chairs before, thats how I know they will tip backwards easily lol
And the cane bottoms are horrible for cat owner!! The cats love to shred the cane from the bottom of the chairs and have the cane hanging down, ask me how I know lol
@@Lea941 *ladder back
Happy, I have so much respect for you, how you respect what people built in very different eras, the architecture, the various styles, the craftsmanship, and the lives of the people that lived in these homes. Everything you do is so professional, and thoughtful, that it is a strong testament to who you are as a human being. I am a digital artist who has been working with digital images and videos since May 1983 when we worked on million dollar computers to produce Worldwide Fortune 500 adverting and annual reports in LA. When someone like yourself produces such incredible work it is incumbent upon me to say, Damn Your Good! Jack
I just don't understand why people just leave behind such wonderful things. The craftmanship is so much better than it is now. Thanks Kappy
What an amazing house. Beautiful woodwork, beautiful staircase, even the attic was nice! Going up and down such beautiful stairs everyday would have been a delight. This was one of my. favorites. 🥰
I wish people wouldn't trash these old homes. Love all of the architectural details.
Wow !!! This house need to be saved !! Lots of antiques and nice woodwork ! You did it again Kappy !! Thank you so much for these beautiful explores . Stay safe 👍❤🇨🇦
I’m blown away by how many abandoned homes you showed in this video! I’m from California and homes are almost never left empty and not all that many are this old. What’s odd about the house you walked through is the ground floor had several rooms with rotting floors.. but the upstairs didn’t so I guess it’s not the usual water damage from a bad roof and maybe termites?! Could you tell what the problem was?! Thank you for sharing this with us!
Kinda reminds me of my upstairs attic. One side of my attic was turned into a studio apt by a previous owner and the other side is used for storage.
Nice place, glad there were no bad home improvement projects inflicted on this nice house. Loved all the non painted wood work and the porches. Sad that it's sinking into itself, some one should have rescued it about ten years back. Thanks, Kappy
The brickwork and the chimney it looks like it's an excellent shape
I think my favorite part was the attic and the 2nd story porch. Awesome house Kappy. Looks like some real beauties upcoming. Can't wait.
I SO want to buy this place and put it back the way it was, it seems very doable. It's all still there and was really well taken care of for a long time; the work on the foundation and the condition of the crawl space, the intact wood moldings, the staircase, the fireplace mantels, and wainscotting. That retro kitchen table and chairs upstairs are worth some good money these days! The little bedroom on the second floor is so cute, it's painted in what they call "Haint Blue", very common in these old places. The landing up there was very pretty. The upstairs porch was heavenly, with the bench along the wall I can see the whole family gathering there. What a wonderful place, I think this is my favorite of your explores so far. The energy of the place is so great I can feel it through the screen. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful old place, I'm about half ready to pack up and move to North Carolina!
Kappy, another place that *was terrific, but probably unfit structurally at this point (?). You'd know better than I. However, the details, trim, and other elements definitely worth salvaging and saving - honoring. Money does not buy happiness, Kappy, but it does allow for intelligent, inspiring re-builds. Thanks as always. PS One day you'll video a home you've re-built to *your specifications and particular sensitivities. We'd all cheer for you. Wishing magic and lots of tender exchange this holiday.
The attic ceiling alone, Gorgeous...
I love how you stand back and show how nature is methodically taking back its land
All the memories...I hope there was a lot of love and laughter in that splendid old house. Thanks, Kappy!
Might be old ice box in kitchen. Some genius thought they were going to sell the ivory keys on the piano. Lol Love those “wows” and “holy cows.” Your accent is more SC than MD. Nothing better on a rainy day in south central VA than having new Kappy video to watch. ❤ PS I told my husband now that everything is digital people hardly use paper calendars. How are we gonna know when homes were last Iived in? So I bought paper calendars this year. 😂
What a stunning house that must have been. I especially loved the curved ceiling in the 2nd floor porch. Kitchen looks to be an addition. Sadly rotting from the bottom up. I wonder if it flooded at one time... Roof must be very good still. Looks to be empty longer than 2006. I would have liked to have seen the kitchen ceiling. Thank you as always for another great explore. You have come such a long way
That buffet under the microwave would make a GOREGEOUS TV stand!!! It's already missing the top drawer where the equipment panel would go. Oh if only I could my hands on it.......Also, at 8:07 an orb slowly floats off the far left side of the piano keyboard and glides steadily across the room.
I love your commentary on the houses. I love how excited you get with the architecture and structure of the house. Really enjoy all your videos. My daughter and I share them back and forth
Thank you so much! Glad y’all enjoy them!! :)
More ORBS KAPPY, this home still has SPIRIT LIFE!!!! Residing here!!! I know you must feel something while walking through these incredibly old historic homes!!!!
This house had style! Loved the staircase, and the attic was really cool too!
Kappy, the upstairs back-porch view and sounds were delightful. It gave me a moment to imagine such peace. Thank you!
The curves on the porch end walls are unique. I can see myself sitting there in the early morning with a cup of coffee.
Another great find. Minimal vandalism and as you stated no major updates made it easy to imagine this house when first built. The woodwork is fantastic and that was a cool old wardrobe you found on the second floor. And once again I was surprised to find the attic space finished off to be used for living space. Thank you and keep up the good work!
So true Kappy- very few updates which is always so amazing. So many original windows. It’s hard to see the house for the junk piled all around. A beautiful family home. Thank you!
Beautiful old home. Thanks for sharing, stay safe. ❤️🐾🐾🐾
Wonderful find!
It is so nice to hear a tour guide that knows what things are called and pronounces them correctly.
Of all the houses this is the one I would choose to save! Incredible!
Awesome house love it. Definitely worth saving. I signed a petition to help save a historical building that the was going to be demolished in the city I live. And it's still standing.
Great find! All through out would be a good save, and also adding a metal roof, and the repairs and touching up areas and the double porches, and the next to last house showed looks great for discovering ✅ The thing about a top porch at least is that in good weather perfect for a night porch to hear the crickets and look out at the stars and smell the seasons perks, flowers etc... This is a very nice house 🏡 Thanks for taking us on a visit to these places that deserve respect not just about the history but also of the labor in building them✅💖❣️
..your sensitivity to shadow and light comes through in your art.
Thank You for sharing. ..truly beautiful. 🍁🌾🔥🌌
Too kind of you too say! I don’t know if I’d say it’s art but I appreciate the high praise and I’m glad you enjoy these old Forgotten places too! Thank you! :)
@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 ..right then, your not an artist. ..and neither was Ansel Adams.
HI KAPPY , I HOPE RUBY IS DOING WELL,,.. THANK'S FOR ALL YOUR HOUSE EXPLORING VERY INTERESTING.. SAD FOR THESE HOUSES IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE GET SICK AND OLDER THEN DIE,, THEN THE HOUSES ARE LEFT FOR NATURE TO GROW IN.. THE HOUSES SEEM TO ALL HAVE PIANOS ,,THAT WAS THERE INTERTANMENT AT THAT TIME..HOUSES IN THOSE DAYS WERE BUILT WELL AND GREAT WOOD WITH STYLE ..IN THOSE DAYS THE ATTIC LOOKS GREAT.. THANKS KAPPY..
That mid-century table and chairs on the second floor are worth a fortune.
Wow! Amazing! The craftsmen-ship of yesteryear sure stands the test of time . All that stuff lying around, reminds me that one day all my stuff will mean nothing ..
What a gorgeous grand old home. Great period details, with the Flemish bond brickwork, etc. Beautiful woodwork... This actually looks like it could be saved. This is a great one, Kappy!
Always love seeing the Flemish bond brick work! Helps date the house even more so! Thank you for watching and the kind words!
Urban Exploring With kappy thanks for sharing this good video about The Incredible Totally Packed 200 year old Jones House Down South Along the Coast it was a really nice house and i really enjoyed this video my friend and God Bless.
What a gem Kappy! Those porches alone, let alone the staircase, 3rd floor & more I don’t think I’ve ever seen windows on a porch like the second story porch. Interesting. Do you think it was closed in at one time? Looks like lots of stuff was packed & it was looked through and/or tossed. Thanks Kappy
Did you see the orb, when you were in the second part of the kitchen? There were two orbs also in the bottom bedroom where the two mattresses were, and one in the attic. I have never seen orbs before in the houses you have explored. This house was so beautiful!
Wow! What a beauty! I can only imagine the families that may have lived there and the memories made. How often do you come here to North Carolina? We have TONS of old houses here! Great find as always Kappy! Looking forward to the next!
Attic floor looks very stable
Kappy, I share with your enthusiasm about this house! Thank you for documenting her!
That vinyl/chrome table and chairs in the 2nd floor landing, we had that set, in white/grey when I was a kid! Another great video, thanks for sharing
Wow! I love it...wish somebody would save it...glad you shared it ..Thanks for the video Kappy!
Thank you very much for watching! :)
Awesome find! This is one of the better finds that isn't completely destroyed. Do you think that is the original kitchen. They were large back then. You could fit a large breakfast table. Did you notice the old linoleum? And the calendar 2006?? What a shame that house is left to rot. That's definitely grandma and grandpa furniture 😄 The bathroom at the entrance was obviously added in the 20's or later. I'm sure there was an outhouse buried up somewhere. Wish I could be there 😫 That was fun. This never gets old. Thanks for the showing.
Great. Crown molding stair. Case
What a pretty old home .....I think there where a lot of people who lived here.... a big family such a story to be told only walls could talk . Wish this home have been saved makes me sad to see everything thrown around from people looking to steal stuff .Thanks for showing us this wonderful old home Kappy. And a snap shot of the past and when this old home was alive
Beautiful place and scenery 😍 wish I had the means to bring some of these places back to life! Thank you for sharing 🙂
What a wonderful and beautiful find !! Thank you so much for sharing your vedio of this house...
It is such a shame that no one has cared or wanted to try and salvage this house before it had gotten to this stage...
I just don't understand why this house has been left like this to just rot and waste away...
Like the family who had this house has given up on it and did't care to save it before it had gotten in so bad of this condition...
I absolutely love this house and enjoyed watching the vedio !! The wood work, crown molding and fireplace mantels are absolutely beautiful...
Take care Kappy and always stay safe out there..
Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄🎄✨
Loved the dining table on second floor 60's I think.
Original builders would be proud that their house lasted over 200 years, but now getting to the end of its life. Hope someone restores it and gives it new life again.
Great house. Thx 4 sharing.
Well done.
Carry on
I'm sure I could spend days upon days exploring each and every little area of this awesome place. There is just so many places that cry to be looked at. Kappy, you're such an awesome individual to use your time and patience to show us some of the best places around the country. I totally thank you my friend for sharing these wonderful videos with us and other UA-cam patrons. I'm absolutely sure they love your work.....
Another beautiful table set. Dam keeps on giving.12 pain windows are lae 18 hundreads early 19, century.
Great find. Thanks for sharing. Be safe and have a great day.
I would hazard a guess that the piano keys were likely real ivory, and that's why they're missing. Ivory has become highly valuable now that harvesting of it is illegal.
I love the real wood beadboard panelling in the kitchen. How beautiful!
grand old house great job kappy sharing it
😎😎😎😎😎😎🏠 Kappy!!! I ❤️the red table & chairs!! WOW!! 👍👍👍
I already have the red table. Just need the chairs to go with 😎😎
What a beautiful house under all that junk! Great potential. Thanks for sharing. Reminds me of my uncle's old farm house in Kansas.
This was awesome. Thanks for another great tour Kappy.
Really it looks like a sad situation and just help a family really didn't live like that that at one time it might have been a pretty nice place to live
Absolutely gorgeous! It’s so worth it to renovate these classics. If I only had money 😢
the range of furniture styles in this beauty... some of those kitchen chairs on the second floor (first floor up the staircase; the first floor in America is called the ground floor in the UK, but however you call it ) The red kitchen chairs? those looked like something out of the 50's with other danish-style side tables peeking back at you, versus the Federal style pieces on the ground floor -that sideboard and the bed headboard. the spring mattresses feel like 1930's and some of those armoires reminded me of a few different decades of styles. I caught myself wondering how that 'dentil molding' was crafted way back when. Such exquisite detail produced without power tools. Simply amazing. We would be a better nation today were we to still enjoy using such skills as those.
Another awesome video Kappy! That dark wood cabinet with the drawers in the middle and cabinet on each side is called a "credenza". It's where the plates, cups, and cutlery were kept in the dinning room. So many things that could be saved....."sigh". The table and chairs, both up and down stairs. "Wow" is right young man! Be careful in your travels! And thanks for taking me along!
This house is absolutely awesome. I would love to renovate his house and get it all cleaned up and renewed and live there.
What a beautiful house!
Another great find ,love these older farmhouses
Omg the amount of mid century antiques is killing me
What a beauty!!! Love all the wood!!!
I love the old screen door , built-ins, and doors.
I love wainscoting and this house is full of it! The repairs didn't seem overwhelming, but removing all the leftover stuff would take a while. I bought an old house at auction years ago and we lived in an RV while we worked on it ourselves and hired some remodeling done. It did have " good bones"... structurally sound and working electric and plumbing. I sold 5 acres that were already platted for what I paid for the house and 14 acres and was later able to do a "limited subdivision" which allowed me to sell part of the remaining 9 acres. Everything is paid for and money in the bank too. One of the best adventures of my life. There are abandoned places available for back taxes so check it out if you don't mind hard work and a looking for a place of your own!
lovely old southern house,,,, watch your videos and think how wonderfully you capture the true essence of these grand old ladies,,,,,, ,,,,if only walls could talk what a tale they would tell,,,,,,,,, i lived in Georgia for a time after coming home from Vietnam,,,,, south is Holy cow,,,, i loved it,,,,
shame the looters have had their sticky fingers on things there,,,,,, interesting the brick work on these 1800 properties have what is called,,,,,"Old English brick laying"
brick laid flat,,, next course of bricks laid end out,,,

That is a great old house. And that was a wonderful shade of blue 💙 Thank you for another great video.
This one was a good find. You haven't been around in awhile and we miss you. Hope you drop by soon. 😊
Thanks again from Michael and Denise in Toledo, Washington. Next year we will be restoring an abandoned house not far from where we live now. It is currently located on the property of a Quarry and will need to be moved first. If you'd like to see a couple of photos let me know.
Wow!!!! And that kitchen table and chairs in the landing vavavoom!! Imagine this as a restoration or as a build using the salvaged materials in the style of the original. Ahhh a girl can dream
When you opened the door and I loved hearing the bird chirping ❤
I wish someone would do this on the west coast!! Thank you Kappy for what you do!
I don’t think there’s as many old houses haha! The east coast was the 13 original colonies after all! Thank you for watching! :)
Dust motes or orbs? Zero in some places, dozens in others. What would past people think about this modern waste. Tyvm Kappy!
Drinking game for every time he says WOW 😵💀
This would absolutely be beautiful restored!!!!
At 5:43 looks like an orb! Such a beautiful house
8:10 there is an orb too.
@@theresahaines2647 I saw that too 😊
We noticed several orbs. Definitely not alone with this one.
That's where I would keep the drummer of the band that way he doesn't really blow us all away he can jam out of the attic as far as we're concerned
What a wonderful house. I can picture how it must have looked way back when. I really liked the red and white dinette set on the second floor. Thank you for another great tour.
The graffiti artist was very polite lmao good cover nice old house..I think it would take a tone of money to save this ..Thanks for the share..:)
That old house was built well!!!🙂👍
wowww kapppy this was a cooool place to explore keeep on keepin on my bud happy exploring
Dude I don't know how you find these places but what craftmanship in all of them.
what a beautiful old house that should have been talen care of
