    if you're practicing this kick without a target, don't stop the kick and pull back, follow through with it. When you hit a bag, pads, or an opponent, the solid object you hit helps you reset. If you train this in shadowboxing, make sure youre following through.

    *Living in Thailand and training with a Thai is crazy good. Even if you're not a professional or even amateur fighter (like me), to be taught properly and with perfect technique is the best. This is not to take away from people who aren't Thai who are excellent fighters, but its very cool to learn from the locals in the country of origin. And for those who ask why learn if not to use it to fight, because if you want to keep fit and get in shape, I cant think of a better sport to do it in. Sawatdeekrub!!*

    I weight 64kg, have skinny chicken legs and don't look like someone who could hurt anyone. But after two years of practice, when I throw a roundhouse on the heavy bag, it does sound like a firearm. I drilled the switch roundhouse even more, because all it takes is one blow to the liver. Note that your leg should not be completely extended when you hit : it extends through the target, your goal is basically to chop a man in half.

    • @sammyli9456
      @sammyli9456 2 роки тому +3

      Sir,
      Karate kick can be made strong; but you have to first forget what you were taught in any sports (Karate) school.
      (Even, some promoted deadly Karate schools do the training like sports but just make the style more aggressive to invite newcomers)
      In fact;
      🙏 TKD / Karate / KF kickings are based on the same fundamental concept which relies on rooting, whereon the standing legs must bend a bit and keep the body stability and the standing heel does not lift up when kicking. Twisting waist is the same as Muay Thai.
      - TKD / Karate / KF kicking can be strong upon your deep rooting (the horse riding stance training must be deep and adjustable to 'more than' 3 levels - being, at least, deepest deeper and deep); and your body stability control must be based on hard training. This kind of training is not available in sports school ; but be found in special schools.
      I love Muay Thai; but I have had chances of training in several schools (styles / sub-styles). Each martial art has its own secret training. We have to open our mind and start the journey to experience new things on the conceptual thinking in mind that our skills still need to be polished. 🙏
      PS. We have to understand the difference between the acrobatic skills (show off in the action films) and the martial skills. Then, our training will be accurate. Most trainees in TKD / Karate /KF do not understand this thing and their trainings are based on how to be like a popular action-movie star. 🙏

    Awesome video, very detailed! I’ve trained in boxing for 10 years but I finally decided to start adding some kicks into my arsenal. The step forward came naturally, but after I kicked I was having trouble bringing my leg back and made me feel off balance. I’m starting to get addicted to the feeling of throwing that good kick though, feels like I’m hitting the heavy bag with a bat... but my shins aren’t conditioned at all 😅 so it’s gonna take some time.

    • @BloodOfTartaros
      @BloodOfTartaros 5 років тому

      Contrats, mate. That's natural, as you're used to a much wider stance. Just begin by closing in your feet a bit at a time and you'll find a much easier time standing back.

      I think performing a roundhouse in a streetfight is pretty risky since it's relatively slow and the opponent is probably always rushing to close the distance and hit your head with a barrage of punches so there's a big chance that it's not gonna hit with maximum power. Teeps and front kicks on the other hand could be really effective in maintaining distance and disrupting the other guy's rhythm. Spinning back kicks are pretty advanced but they can catch the other guy off guard and it even works in kickboxing and MMA when done correctly. IMO takedowns and wrestling are probably the best things to use in a streetfight to minimize damage to both yourself and the other guy.

    • @creature6667
      @creature6667 3 роки тому +23

      @@lazydog5065 the problem with wrestling/take downs though is if you go to the ground and the person you are fighting has a friend near by, your getting your head stomped in. use the impact to get back on guard.(it will educate your timing)
    learn to kick with both legs.(making you able the reach the soft side of def. )
    do not charge(foot step to far, round) to much in sparring and training( to not be readen).
    my ratio : 50% right low kick (easy and good to set up respect and fear on low left side)
    10% left low kick( less power but surprise effect)
    30% mid kick, to chase the ko
    10% high kick, difficult but good for moral.
    all these should be launch after a set up.
    kicks consume energy, if you miss you won't bounce back, and lose confidence, then you need to rethink your set up.

    *Some facts about Muay Chaiya* The Muay from the city of Chaiya mainly refers to a certain Ajarn Ket Sriyapai. Ket Sriyapai was the son of a governor who was active in sports promotion and brought Muay Veti fighters (Muay Thai) from Chaiya to Bangkok to promote them there. Ajarn Khet never learned Muay Thai himself. The only reason why he is called "Ajarn" is that he has written and published some (fictional) stories about Muay Thai fighters. Ajarn Ket came from a high-ranking family and therefore never fought in a boxing ring. That would have been inappropriate for his standing. His actual profession was civil servant in the building industry. Later Muay Chaiya generations (for example Ket's school friend Tonglor Yalee) mixed normal Muay Thai techniques with Silat (Indonesia), Wushu (China) and Jiu Jitsu (Japan). For these reasons Muay Chaiya, and everything that comes from this direction, can neither be called an old nor a real Thai martial art. What's funny about these professionals and tutorials is that they always teach you to guard your face with the other hand while kicking like this one. But when he demonstrates, his face is open. I see it in many fights and they get hit many times in the face because they always let their guard down. I am talking about the first guy. The moment he kicks and his enemy lands a punch on his face, he'd be going down first.

    I'll recommend this to anyone watching who wants to learn martial arts for self defense, don't try doing this in a street fight unless you've done it thousands of time on the mat and in sparring. If you're in a street fight, keep both legs upright on the ground if possible, don't get fancy. And before some kid who has watched too much BJJ chimes in... going to the ground in a street fight is not exactly smart - concrete, glass, metal, objects, other people, liquids, etc. are not a mat.

      🙏 TKD / Karate / KF kickings are based on the same fundamental concept which relies on rooting, whereon the standing legs must bend a bit and keep the body stability and the standing heel does not lift up when kicking. Twisting waist is the same as Muay Thai.
      BTW, TKD / Karate / KF kicking can be strong upon your deep rooting (the horse riding stance training must be deep and adjustable to 'more than' 3 levels - being, at least, deepest deeper and deep); and your body stability control must be based on hard training.

      Thats part of the reason they kick alot harder. The step is useful to create the angle for throwing the kick if you watch muay thai guys compared to some styles of karate or tae kwon do in mt they will have their leg make impact as its extending as opposed to having it impact as the leg is finishing its extension. its a similar to the principle to breaking boards you want to punch through it as opposed to just hitting it and retracting. The kicks are also usually thrown with set ups for example id throw a faint or a light jab and step at the same time then kick.
