  • Welcome to Wanderland! Join me for an Afternoon Tea at The Roseate Hotel in Reading, it is inspired by the ever so famous Huntley and Palmer’s Biscuits that were made right here in Reading! I’m continuing my search for fun, economical and unique places outside of London for this Vlog. See you down the Rabbit Hole!
The Hotel is known for its spectacular attention to detail that ensures a bespoke, luxurious experience for its guests. Whether it is the 86,000 Italian-glass beads in the chandelier that hangs from the top of the building or the plush upholstery and wallpapers, the meticulous design sense is ubiquitous in maintaining an uplifted ambience. The Roseate Reading was originally Shire Hall for the Berkshire County Council. The building, along with its wide hallways, vaulted ceilings, cornice mouldings and the original lift shaft, have all been precisely restored to their original glory. To revive the old world charm of the Shire Hall, its council chamber, Eden along with its imposing fireplace and elaborate wood carvings on the doors and mantlepiece have all been restored to their past beauty. One of the top hotels in Reading, The Roseate Reading is a culmination of opulence and warmth.
The Roseate Reading is located near the Ascot Racecourse and is also very conveniently located near the venue of the Reading Festival.
    See you in Wanderland.

Dallas, I could recommend two teas - Oolong and Ceylon teas. In my time 1992-1999 in UK I had them on a regular basis and they are excellent, a lot like Earl Gray.

    Hello
If you are going to contine to persist in presenting afternoon tea videos there are some matters of correct form you should be aware of to do justice to the time honoured British tradition of taking afternoon tea
Please please - - - - - stop calling the afternoon tea plated items 'he' and 'she' - - - it is so sexist and just plain weird
Cut each finger sandwich in half - - - this will prevent you from looking like an American eating a hotdog!
Stop talking about having truffle in the sandwiches - - - - you are having longstanding and appreciated traditional afternoon tea sandwiches with classic fillings - - - - earth truffle would be utterly inappropriate - - - - unless you mean a sweet truffle? - - which would be even more inappropriate!
Stop shoving the whole half round of the scone into your mouth - - - - the correct way to prepare the scone is to break the scone in half diagonally with your hands( not a knife) then break off a segment ( with your hands)one at a time from the half round of the scone and add the clotted cream and preserve in which ever order you prefer - - - then break of another segment and repeat the above - - - - this prevents you from looking like an American eating a hamburger!
Stop placing the clotted cream and the preserve straight onto the scone - - - the correct form is to place a scoop of clotted cream and preserve separately onto the plate in front of you and then apply a little of each with the knife to the segment of scone - - - - the clotted cream and preserve on the plate in front of you should be enough for several segments of scone
Stop being so amazed by the cake fork - - - - It is a longstanding British afternoon tea utensil (NOT a fish fork as you once thought) - - - -
    Good luck
PS: 'Alice In Wonderland' is a longstanding precious British book title not to be mangled - - - - can we suggest 'The United States Of Afternoon Tea' is much more appropriate for your videos

Thank you so much for your gracious reply
To assist you further we feel you should research the modern age meaning of the phrase "down the rabbit hole" (refer to Wikipedia) - - - not the ideal phrase for you to be using - - - - ditto for the term 'rabbit juice'
      Cheers

As an American in the uk I pride myself on my heritage. Your reply sounds pretentious. If I ever ever go for afternoon tea I’ll make sure to completely disregard all of your suggestions and continue doing everything in the most inappropriate and unconventional manner possible and making sure to shove a finger sandwich in my mouth in one go!
Surly people should be able to enjoy an afternoon tea they way they want!?
      USA 🗽🇺🇸🍔🌭
Love them hot dogs and hamburgers!!! 🤤 😋

    Hello
Thank you so much for your gracious taking on board our recommendations - - - - - we are very much looking forward to your intended ongoing afternoon tea experiences
Some of the current UA-cam videos showing the very special traditional experience of taking afternoon are truly appalling (not yours)
All of the current UA-cam videos claiming to teach correct form regarding afternoon tea are incorrect on a number of points
Sadly many afternoon tea venues do not provide the following : fresh plates between each course - - - a vessel of hot water to weaken your cup of tea to an individuals particular taste - - - cake forks - - - separate serving spoons for the clotted cream and preserve - - - finger bowls - - - -maybe you could educate your upcoming afternoon tea venues
We greatly appreciate you show the exterior of each afternoon tea venue and the ambience atmosphere and interior of each afternoon tea room - - - - however do try to avoid filming other people in the room especially while you are dining - - - - - people in the backround have looked deeply uncomfortable having realised they are 'in shot' - - - - most particularly in the Lanesbough Hotel and the Browns Hotel videos - - - you could control the above by arriving before the afternoon tea room opens and you could film the interior - - - also requesting a table with a wall behind you so other people are not visible while you are dining and filming
We also appreciate that you show and discuss the afternoon tea menu--- the severs - - - the price points and the total experience
Having taken afternoon tea for 40 years around the world please allow us to recommend some of our favourite enchanting afternoon tea venues for when you are next in London : The Milestone Hotel - - - - The Dorchester Hotel - - - - The Orangery at Kensington Gardens(may be too noisy)
    Cheers

Thank you Tony for your follow up reply. I do appreciate your very special tips to make my vlogs better. I will definitely be taking some on board. I record my experiences sometimes months or weeks in advance so know that your suggestions may take awhile for you to see 😁 I actually do have a reservation for The Milestone Hotel later this month, I’m really looking forward to it. Take care and see you in Wanderland ✨
