My favorite - Layla. Love the version from Live Aid 1985. Phil Collins played drums along with another drummer. There was a mix up where Phil was following / trying to keep up with the other drummer, sped up to catch up to her, she then sped up to catch up to him. The result was a much faster version of the song that was intended. But Eric was such a professional that he just went along with the flow. Very impressive!
You just got yourself one major rabbithole to discover!! EC has so many great songs...Tears in Heaven, Wonderful Tonight, Layla, River of Tears and many more!! FYI EC played the solo on the classic Beatles song While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
He's just one of the best guitarist of all time Dereck. I prefer him in more blues registers, either for his voice or for his playing. But to be honest, he must be incapable of producing anything bad.....
Clapton is easily one of the top 5 British singer/songwriters of all time. Since the 70s his music has been achingly honest, emotional and deep especially for a mainstream artist. He's done a few famous film scores. And is the only artist in history to inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame three times.
Jeff Porcaro is playing on this record as you say. Jeff Porcaro belongs to "Toto" a magical band. You can pick whatever record. (Hold the Line, Rosanna, Africa...).
Eric is my musical hero, seen him over 20 times since 1988! My advice, go for live versions of everything for him, every solo improvised and unique. Fun Fact: the backing singer in the pink jacket is Marcy Levy who went on to become Marcella Detroit in Shakespeare’s Sister…….
OMG Clapton (one of best friend of Prince) ...how is possible to not know? lol I'm kidding! 3 essential Clapton titles: - Leïla (Live acoustic version) - Wonderful Tonight (beautiful love song - in Live ...a must!) - Tears in Heaven (Song about his daughter tragically dead) ...And so much more! Thanks for this new react Dereck. Clapton it's like Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, or Led Zep, etc. It's a standard that everybody should know I think.
You want to react to Clapton ? Look up CREAM , Derek and the dominos live at the filmore , Blind Faith , The Yardbirds , Bonnie and Delaney with Clapton . Just to name a few. Clapton has been around since the 60's. Reacting to him live in concert is much better !! 🤙. He is the only artist to be inducted into rock n roll hall of fame 3 times.
Some of my favorites from him are, Layla, Cocaine, Bad Love, Pretending, She's Waiting (For Another Lover), It's In The Way That You Use It, Tears In Heaven
Oh, wow, been a while since I've heard this one. 80's Clapton is an...interesting beast. I think it's his weakest era, but there are definitely flashes in the fire like this one, and some of his late 80's stuff. If you're looking for suggestions, I'd say "Old Love", and obviously "Layla": that one's kinda his calling card, along with the (much sadder) "Tears in Heaven".
*Agreed "Who would have thought I would have so much fun with this song?" Me with my thoughts over my weakness on a guy named Jorge. (Jorgito made Eric Clapton's old records play in a quiet day) As of today, this song definitely makes me think of my inspiration, my "High Honors" Character, Jorge. He is from Ecuador, wheelchair bound and has been motivational to me for 2 1/2 years. Jorge is a "dream character" due to his uniqueness that makes him fancy. The message from the lyrics overwhelms my thoughts about Jorge.
I love thinks like this having nothing to do with the song. I have lots of questions...and I don't know where to start 😐...uh... may be the most important one : at what time did he used to take out his trash😐 ?...
@@believeitornot2650 🤣🤣🤣 no idea I never took it out myself. BUT, one day the milkman got mixed up with the bottles and Mr Clapton turned up at the door at 7 am something asking for his milk that I had taken by mistake, I couldn't believe my eyes out 😳 my hair was all messed up and I remember my only words were UHHH !!! 😁🤦🙄
@@stephanietowers2196 ...then I would have asked the milkman to mix up with the bottles a second time so as not to be seized by the effect of surprise. Just enough time to improve my "UHHH" the night before🙄
I think Jeff pocaro was the drummer when they recorded the song I could be wrong but never the less great song and fabulous musicianship across the board
He's been a beast in the industry since the '60s. Known for one of the best guitarists ever!
Arguably the greatest guitarist ever. Fantastic music.
Wonderful tonight is great song from Eric Clapton
It's in the way that you use it , is a really badass one to

Eric Clapton : a fantastic guitarist and a courageous man. Hear what he says in those weird Times...
Says what? When?

I remember this album coming out (my b/friend had a record shop) and we played it to death. We had it on tape in the car! Ahh I miss the 80s.

I didn't know that. I thought it was Phil Collins.
Nathan East bass. Ted Templeman timbales.Micheal Omartian synths! Lenny Castro congas!

Grrrrrrrrrrreat song on about a million levels.

One of my favorite Clapton songs. Also in one of my favorite movies of the ‘80’s, “Space Camp”.

You should react to "Eric Clapton - Tears In Heaven (Official Video)" by Clapton. He wrote this song after the passing of his son.
My 12 year old daughter has heard this soooo many times over and over and always thought it said “foreign man” lol
He's ranked #2 as the Greatest Guitarist of All time. Talk about Dominating the industry. 🏆
