I am glad to be back! Thank you for reaching out and checking in on me I appreciate you guys! 🗡 🛡 🔥 Streams and more videos will be up and coming out soon. I got a lot of hidden gems as far as old school Diablo 2 content. Stay tuned.
ethereal edge isn't bad at all the start of ladder, it allows u to clear most if not all hell content, and while it cant hold up to runewords, its one of the better wolf druid weps before ebotd
I have to with Nick's statement about having video footage of the item in use. The information provided in the video is supplemented by the actual item's game-play. Thanks for the information.
I started playing D2 when I was 7 and played till I was 16. D2 was my childhood but I only played classic...Im thinking to get back to it after watching your content and playing LOD will feel like a whole new game.
There are a lot of uniques in D2 that will never be best in slot for any build at any time, but still would be a nice find for someone just casually playing through on single player because they are still better than the average rare item. And there are some uniques that aren't best in slot but have niche uses. But then there some that are totally mystifying, like many of the ones identified here. Anyone who finds one of these fairly or very rare uniques (like templars) will almost surely come across 2-3 or more uniques that would be better. I mean a shaftstop is better than a templars. I kinda disagree about grandfather though, I use it on my ww barb and I dig it. But I play without ladder only runewords, and botd is very expensive. I also made a shadow killer sin build but that was almost as a joke
Flamebellow and its arctic blast version could be used to bug barbarian to become indestructible in the moor, where no one ever could kill you. As a side effect, sadly, you can't move or attack then :P
List is ok but I disagree with Steelshade. You said about Travmerc build with this helmet and this is enought to be ok helmet. Also Grandfather was just outshine by runewords but being on the same list with Stormspire is a bad idea.
I love shadow killer! I’d have that plus cleglaw gloves on a throwing star assassin haha it was so sick knocking people back and freezing them + the frost nova chance stacks. Was a fun unique pvp build I had back in the day~
Fun with Blade Fury, especially if you go nuts and equip two. Spams so many Frost Novas so quickly that enemies can barely move and allies can be disconnected from server, lol. Epic in Normal, okay in Nightmare, worthless in Hell.
Barbarian with Flamebellow belching some weak and useless Inferno. FAIL Assassin with black helm, black armor, and Flamebellow looking very Darth Vader in bnet chatroom. STYLE
Shadowkiller makes a great iron golem, i have been paying Ist each for these. The frost nova procs from the golem and is great fun, especially in cows. Not a useless item, for me.
If you have endless spare runes... Beast, Pride, Last Wish, Exile, etc... so golem provides aura for necro army. If you play legit... Insight so golem aura fuels mana... Obedience so golem is cheap, sturdy, and dangerous.
Frostwind was my favorite to use in duels with my amazon. Since the Amazon doesn't have an animation to use arctic blast, she just goes invisible if you can line her up just right against the bridge. Either that or crash your game.
Just found 214ed eth templars might with total defence of 2834 . I plan to use on a pvp zeal along with rare self repair boots and gloves for huge defence bonus . I also have 2 sox visionary , 465 defence helm for that build .
Problem is that Paladins get Paladin Shields, which blow every other shield out of the water with ridiculous ease, except in a tiny handful of cases using Stormshield or Tiamat's Rebuke. Lower Resistances is so powerful because it will usually increase an elemental character's damage by 50-400%. A Conviction Paladin sees *at most* a 33% increase in damage against non-immunes, since they already drop monsters to -50 to -100% (which is the cap), and they're one of the only elemental builds which laughs at immunities in general. Maybe some kind of melee Sorceress could use a Medusa's Gaze, but the only definite case I could make would be a Fireclaws Bear. They rely on huge lifepools to tank, and their block speed is terrible, making them one of the only tanky melee shield-users who ignore max block, maximizing odds of casting. They have very little source of resistances piercing besides Rainbow Facets. Unfortunately, just like Paladins, they simply have a far, far better option in Phoenix, with the only issue being that it requires several high runes, which is more than a player is likely to ever see if not for bots and dupes; but then again, Medusa's Gaze itself is fairly uncommon, so...
The grandfather used to be amazing. Just like wind force was for zons. I remember hitting the cow levels w my wind force and multi shoot. Such a satisfying feeling.
It has been a while since your last vid I hope you doing well I really miss vid I'm glad your back and you have the best diablo content I really enjoy it
Medusas can be used by WereDruid somewhat in hell dificulty to wear down taff bosses. Just equip it, transform, "die", transform back, "die" etc. Only risk is to die for real, when your hp drops to 1, before you can recast werewolf.
I remember when Maelstrom the unique yew wand was worth a shit load. This was before LoD, before there were Exceptional or Elite Uniques or Runewords, or even any elite items at all. It was the fastest cast rate you could get for a 1h item, and had +mana & light res too making it ideal for any caster. This was back when the most +skills you could get on a 1h item was +1. Also there were no class-specific items either. I think I traded my Maelstrom for an soj back then!
Dual wielding flamebellow is a challenging "kinda" fun build. With lots of additional + skills items and the appropriate merc who lowers resistance it's even effective!
I think the problem is that the developers weren't actually players of the game, so while something sounded good on paper, players actually sought the best-case scenario for gear. Let's also not forget that the Blizzard developers responsible for D2 were probably in their 20s when they started and game writing was also still in its infancy. There's value in this though, as it adds a bit of thought process to the leveling experience. Current D3 suffers from a significant problem, where there's no real reason you'd want to pick something over anything else until you complete your first set, with a couple of exceptions that oddly add like 500% bonus damage to some skill. Legendaries might as well all have the same name.
Frostwind is not at all a bad weapon, it's just not a "primary" weapon but a secondary weapon very good at killing physically immune monsters on hell difficulty (together with Djinn Slayer). It's also good at definitely putting to rest those pesky fallen and skeletons who are being continously ressurected.
Reduce cold resistance would not save the frostwind due to high cold resist from monster at hell difficulty, on top of that it would not work on cold immune mob, (blizzard fucked up cold dmg big in 1.10 as they try to make mob tougher and give monster super high cold resist to go against soccesor's cold mastery but also making reduce resist won't work on immune)
Yay you're back. Would be cool to do another one like this with runewords ect. Would be cool if you did a list of the best hc mfer char's to make when reset starts
Would want to mention Pluckeye, the 1st normal Unique Bow. Does absolutely no damage past act 1, mana leech isn't effective with that pathetic damage and the Mana After Each Kill and Life Boost can be easily gained from other items
Haven't heard from you for so long! How's it going man? Hope you're doing fine and hope to see more content coming from you. Wishing you all the best man!
Thing with D2 unique in initial release was that they had no stat or level requirement, so that made them really powerful (even the crappy ones) because you could slap that Grandfather on brand new Barbarian. Drawback was that you could ever only fine one exact copy of that item. In LOD they removed that feature, you could now get multiple copies of unique item, but they now had stat and level requirement. PS I think Grandfather was also in D1, and I think it shows up in D3 as well.
what release or patch is this? Cause I have the original diablo 2 version 1.00(which was the first release version of diablo 2) and unique items have item levels and stat requirements on them, also considering in the initial release there was no grandfather that only showed up in the expansion and when the expansion came out there were unique item levels and stats to wield them.So taking that all together and the fact the GF never was in the initial release...you simply dont know what your talking about lol, Yes the GF was in D1 and D3
@@kyles8524 It's a 20 year old game, which I played last time like 10 or more years ago, so pardon my mistake of giving bad example. Still seems worse than a pally shield with much, much lower str req and some +res% or +dmg%. Especially if also any magic/rare affixes or sockets for gems/jewels/runeword.
At leasr all rhose unique items have good affixes and bonuses, in Diablo 1 most of the unique item had at least one or two and maybe three penalties and we used them
Nice list. These are mostly my picks as well. Steel shade is just garbage, almost every other helm in the game is better (even normal ones), just dissapointing (this is my number one). Only good in one particilar area in the game. Stormspire is an altered 1.09 item (it was a unique archon staff) and it was always very bad, basically useless. Medusa's Gaze, hmm, i think some kind of auradin can use it and that's the only item in game with lower resist proc. Quite bad but can be interesting. Grandfather as you said, just doesn't aged well. Weapon/Body Armor runewords are way overpowered from 1.10 Flamebellow is just useless. Two handed, slow, no damage, weak fire based stats. Frostwind is lot better than Flamebellow but still weak. Templar's Might is an utter dissapointment for being one of the highest quality unique armor in the game. +stamina, really? Shadow killer = weak damage, slow, very bad assassin weapon. I would put almost every elite class specific unique in the list. Almost every one them is worse than the 1.09 unique counterpart. There are only few exceptions like Death Fathom. Ghostflame is another very weak dagger, pretty useless for anyone in the game. The funny thing is, how powerful some normal uniques are and most of them are balanced damn good. Sure most of them are not endgame capable but when you find them they are almost all useful. (Hotspur, Bloodfist, Magefist, Twitchthroe are all awesome even later in the game) Exceptional uniques are mixed bag but pretty good too. Not the best but has some cool bonuses and some of them are definitely one of the best uniques (like Vipermage, Vampire Gaze, Waterwalk/WT/Gore, etcetc... ) And Elites are mostly disapointing. Some of them are awesome (like Shako, Stormshield, Arachnid), but 80% of them are just... garbage. Especially weapons and body armors, thanks to the OP runewords. :(
Wow, entitled even more?! Of course the items are useless compared to runewords but isn't that a challenge? Like wearing only blue items or naked javazon? Ok, maybe not comparable, since those uniques have high requirements. Maybe good for us noobs who are slow in magic find and keep too much stuff and when we finally get to cleaning up it felt good to be able to sell away a "golden" item.
Now just imagine if we changed "Defense" in diablo to become Dodge Rating, and reworked all the defense mods on every piece of armor in the game to translate to some kind of damage reduction - you know, the intuitive use for defense you would expect how it should work. Now something like Templar's Might would have been useful. But since defense in this game is trash for almost every character build, and block chance and damage reduction and vitality is just more worthwhile, these defense armors have no merit to using them. That one's on the devs... they should have implemented defense a lot better.
Hmm... do you have a video like... best class to play singleplayer or something of the sort. Possible Idea for a vid? Just love watching your d2 videos always
Really nice touch getting footage of using every item. You didn't have to do it but you did and the video is much more enjoyable for it
Path of Diablo fixes the majority of these items
Adds a stat or stat range to make the item viable
PoD is a godsend.
Quality feedback. You didn’t have to do it but it made the comment section much more enjoyable for it.
@@tremblence no one cares about path of diablo
If I remember right Diablo 1 actually had magic items that were worthless and would make your character worse if you equipped them
Yes, things like fragile ring of blidness
-18% chanse to hit
-8 vitality
hahaha
You were able to equip them before you identified them, so you didn't even know they were crippling you. Classic trolling from Blizzard.

I like how they made inferno even worse in d2, as it already sucked back in d1 past couple of few levels.
Way back I used to think inferno was super strong because of the shamans in act 3.

Legit.

I found a lot of unique elite armors to fall short. Ormos's is good, but never seems to drop for me.
