The main reason they got rid of organs wasnt because it was gorey but because it was a disorganized mess. Your inventory and stash would be filled with a dozen different types of organs and multiples of certain organs for each monster type. It wasted alot of inventory and stash space and was extremely disorganized. David brevik stated this in multiple interviews.

Depending on what weapon you've been using it may not have beem pointless. Assassins can open locked chests without a key but it does require them to be wearing a katar.

In short: it isn't about easter eggs, hidden lore, secrets, or even the cain quest is the only quest you can fail to complete if you choose to leave him in his cage and go to act 2(he'll be saved by the rangers of the sightless eye and you'll have to pay him money to identified your gear). There are really some hidden things in the game that players never noticed and a lot are interesting that the developers went that far for this game.

You should really play the game Freelancer ;) With graphics mod it even looks awesome. Good storywriting, awesome soundtrack, reputation system for all the factions, shoot down pirates or be pirate, trader, but most important of all: not sure why (I guess soundtrack), but the immersion in this game is great, you´ll really feel flying through and discovering space.
I'll tell you what, closing my eyes and listening to that music transported right back to the mid 90's. Of course everyone in my family is dead now so it's bittersweet. I really miss those days. That's life I guess.
It doesn't say that there are hidden or unknown runewords in the game. All it says it that you have to accept the loss of runes when experimenting with runewords unknown to the specific player.

You have to find an ethereal rare or unique Crystal Sword or Dimensional Blade and use the rare/unique upgrade cube recipe to make it a Phase Blade. Golem is also pronounced /ˈɡoʊləm/ GOH-ləm, not Gollum. Gollum is the corrupted Hobbit in Lord of the Rings. The Black Tower key was probably *actually* supposed to be used in... the Black Tower. Y'know, the one in the Black Marsh. And open the chest the Countess guards in act 1. There are no secret runewords. We've taken the MPQ files apart and every one that can be made has been found, and those that *can't* have also been found.
I can also remember a old glitch can't remember when either right after release or right at end of beta. We're if you went into where everyone was then Portaled to town and stayed by the waypoint you'd get gold and exp from town.
One addendum.. rare ethereal phase blades cannot drop. However, rare ethereal crystal swords and dimensional blades can be upgraded to phase blades, where they retain their ethereal status while being indestructible. Cool video!

Some facts for next video of that kind: `-N% to all resistances` on Necromancer's "Lower Resist" does not lover Magic Resistance. The "Bone Spear" damage is said to drop to half after penetrating an enemy.
the 1 thing i would like to see thats missing is the stats / skills of the Mercenaries, back in the day there was general lvl areas that your merc would have a certain preset effect on their Aura or Ice arrow / Fire arrow skill depending on the merc, now in D2 lod after you can put gear on your merc and keep the same one through the whole game they now seem to have dynamic lvling skills, so whatever lvl you buy a merc at in D2 lod they always have the same lvl 1 aura effect and as you lvl them their skill lvls up, so you always wanna get a merc at lvl 60 at least so you have an easy solid 20 lvls to increase for your merc so their skill / aura will have max affect, if you buy a lvl 90 merc his stats will be correct but his aura or the effect of the elemental dmg in their Arrow skill will be lvl 1 in the same way the Paladin char or Zon char has lvl 1 - 20 of that skill

Rare phase blades cannot spawn ethereal, dimensional blades drop ethereal and are then upgraded to the elite version using cube. Self repair on a phase blade is useless, Just letting you know.

19: Ethereal phase blades do not spawn naturally. But if you upgrade a rare or unique ethereal dimensional blade to phase blade it'll stay ethereal and be indestructible like any other phase blade.
FYI, those Phase blade that are etheral will never drop eth. It's a dimension blade or Crystal sword that dropped with those stats and then were upgraded to phase blade gaining that indestructible mod from the base !
I was always disappointed in the paladin. He has all of those auras and can only use one at a time. Where as the barbarian cab use various war cries at any one time
I don't know about anyone else here but...I love that music. It was so well done and in 1996 there was nothing like it anywhere. At the time I felt no game had a more fitting soundtrack than the first Diablo (where this music comes from). It has an inviting but mysterious tone with underlining touches of melancholy sprinkled in. Addendum- The music changed...it's no longer that familiar Tristram tune I love so much.
I've always wished there was a fan developed Diablo 2 version with all these missing quests & staff included, just like Crowbar's Black Mesa. That would be legendary...

I produce music for a living, but I never got into sound design for games etc. so I would love to learn about how they did it, what type of synthesizers, effects, and samples that were used.
About the black tower key and Khalims will. I've always wondered why they didn't make quest item screens so you didn't have to carry around the quest items? It's annoying, cause specially the will takes up 6 squares of inventory. Really nice video thou, appreciate it. Some of the things you bring up are totally new to me, and it's awesome to see how the game was intended to be before the assh... sorry, the producers, changed the idea to what they "thought" was appropriate.
It's funny that we'll probably never know for sure if there are secret runewords. The number of possible combinations is astronomical, literally too much to ever try all of them out.

I would love to revisit those old times! You could also touch on the old build metas when stuff like buriza and pierce would hit targets multiple times, or just pre enigma pvp.

i think most of these animations were removed due to device limitations of that time(i.e. some PCs might not handle it). but now that we have better hardware for everything, i wish it would be implemented again. eherm2 calling modders *wink wink*
Blizzard north originally wanted to make a scifi game that was first person and random map generated. They created hellgate london. Which shut down. They are now rereleasing the game on steam for free but singleplayer only.

I can imagine. Carrying charms,potions and the cube already limits the whole inventory to carry atleast 10-15 weapons, items or armor.

Sheal rune used to be called as Shea rune. But at the time that the expencion pack got released, Shea was a bad guy on the real world

You forgot the visuals from weapon enchants. Fire Damage used to be a real flame visual instead of just wearing a red sword for example. :)

i think most of these animations were removed due to device limitations of that time(i.e. some PCs might not handle it). but now that we have better hardware for everything, i wish it would be implemented again. eherm2 calling modders *wink wink*

Blizzard north originally wanted to make a scifi game that was first person and random map generated. They created hellgate london. Which shut down. They are now rereleasing the game on steam for free but singleplayer only.

Phase.blades cannot.drop etheral, to acquire one you have to find an eth Crystal sword or dimensional Blade (rare) and Upgrade them to Phase Blade via the horadric Cube.
