How Cleveland Clinic did not put subtitles allowing Katie's truth to be heard is just so wrong and just a disservice to Katie and her incredible journey...All you see on the screen when Katie speaks is ( inaudible ) that is total BS!!!!!....Katie deserves to be heard...I mean Katie's mom and dad speak and there words appear on screen...But all Katie gets is the disrespectful word INAUDIBLE!!!! That is so wrong...Didint National Geographics editors see this!!!!!....

Very few teenage (or even adult) relationships last a lifetime, and there's always someone who has to initiate the breakup - doesn't make you a bad person.. That said, I've thought about the boyfriend a lot, and would like to hear his side of the story. Imagine being a teenage boy and breaking up with your girlfriend - then hearing she's tried to commit suicide, but survived and lost her face.. He must have watched these videos too, and he must blame himself and feel guilty. Of course it wasn't his fault! And it's important for us to not start to put the blame on him, not start to call him with names... He's traumatized by this too, and it'll affect his future relationships.
Ps. I agree about her style! Can't someone younger style her. Not that it matters, BUT she IS a young girl! I also wonder why has even her walk and movements changed - she didn't destroy her brain, so you'd think the body would still work normally? Also the weight gain and bloatedness, is it due to medication or what? Either way, I wish her all the best, and to all her loved ones!

They've all grown through such a trauma, ultimately she put them through it. Of course the same would have happened, had she passed away. My heart really aches for her, and she'd obviously change that ONE MOMENT if she simply could! I also think about that boyfriend who broke up with her - it must have been a trauma for him too, and I bet he blames himself for it. His life is changed too.

It's great that this has vastly improved her quality of life, but what happens 10-15 years from now when rejection occurs? She will need another transplant, which will be another traumatic experience.
if she is still in love with her ex ' boyfriend I say that she's a fool, she should have taken her brother's gun and put a cap in his ass so he would be walking with a limp. I don't care what people say or think about what I say and there's that freedom of speech.
I doubt she thinks of him much anymore - she has bigger things in mind.. I do feel sorry for the boyfriend though. Most relationships end at some point, and it really wasn't his fault that Katie tried to commit suicide over it. But I bet he feels guilty anyway, and is traumatized too. Braking up is part of life and growing up, and he's probably scared to breakup now in future relationships - he might fear they'll harm themselves.. I hope he's received therapy too. It wasn't his fault!
Watching other videos of face transplants at least three of them involved self inflicted shots to the face. Her speech is very bad and I wonder if she is receiving speech therapy?
Yes, the other ones even walk and move better, and they seem to be like their "normal selves". Katie seems to have changed totally, even her walking is slow, and movements. I wish someone explained this, because her brain didn't get affected.
@@jojobee42 she is blind that’s why she can’t move like others...her speech, unfortunately, is worse than that of other face transplants, due to the fact (I think...not sure anymore) that her tong was largely affected, including the muscles that you need in order to be able to produce the proper sound for each word. Poor girl but she’s a warrior! Bless her!
She sounds terrible no one can understand the mayority.of her words. but her mother is very good looking she's more actractive then her own daughter. oh my god her daughter needs to have her speech correct or she is not going to be understood.
She has had a face transplant, of course she can't speak well. You should check out the videos where they explain what happend to her, she was actually a beautiful girl before the surgery.
