I had no need to seek out my lady, for late last night, my lady stood outside mine own window and played this very song. We have been riding north ever since, far away from our titles and responsibilities, to live in a small town near the coast until we pass from this mortal realm. I pray our future be one of joy, and that love's light wings carry us to that beautiful destiny.
Fun fact: Wool of the King (1470-1548), better known by her Castilian given name Lana del Rey, was an English noblewoman who married an Aragonese prince in search of better life. Her melodies are reminiscent of the tragedies that occurred in that time. Summertide sorrow, her most classic, was written in memoriam of those who died for the liberation of the southern part of the Iberian peninsula. Other important melodies composed by her grace were: Cherrie, Jugglegames, and Juvenile And Winsome.
Juvenile and Winsome. I just had the 1920s hit, Stay Young and Beautiful, stream across my mind. Imagine that as bardcore. Jesterage, not jazzage. Yes I probably need my meds...
Truly, I shall be susceptible to intermittent bouts of maniacal laughter throughout my day of travail as a 'most necessary laborer.' All in thanks indeed to your cheeky commentary.
She also composed lesser known melodies such as Cerulean Tunic, Intoxicated By The Seashore and Ardor For Life (composed in association with certain bard often dubbed as The Sabbath).
2:53 I literally started to tear up at this part. It made me think of a widowed old peasant describing how much she misses her husband. She wishes more than anything to see him again. But she knows she must move on and marry a merchant for his money to survive.
This is a really beautiful --and heartbreaking--version. I like the contrast between the original and this "parody" (so genuinely good I hate to call it that). Not only with changing the lyrics and the style to fit the proper time period, but the contrasts between the Lana del Rey's smoky deep contralto and Hildegard von Blingin' crystal clear soprano.
I wish thou wouldst make these available also through the minstrels Deezer and Spotify, for the time I may spend with Minstrel UA-cam hath been limited by my beloveth family.

This song causes me heavy sadness, an echo of once was and never will be in my life. “I shall miss thee forever. Like the stars miss the sun in the morning sky”
Me, eagerly awaiting the glorious day that Hildegard von Blingin makes a Patreon so we can finally repay her for the musical gifts she brings to this tepid world 👀 this is *angelic*
Oh. My. This is amazing, definitely my favorite of your works (although they're all amazing!). I only wish my range was high enough to sing along to this comfortably, although I can reach the notes on a good day. I love how you don't just replace lyrics, but change them to truly embody the medieval style, and I can absolutely imagine this being sung by a bard or gleeman a thousand years ago.
I bow down to the musical skill involved in making these. Other bardcore artists basically just play the original arrangement with ye olden times instruments, but these here are rearranged in such a way that my jaw literally drops at least once every song. The harmonies, the slightly changed scales to make them more period appropriate, the changed metric to fit the olde english. That's serious composition work. Brilliant.
I tried to find hildegard von blingen on spotify and learned that hildegard von bingen was a real person who composed a lot and invented the first lingua ignota (way before Tolkien!) Thanks for making me learn some history
Weirdly, some of the original Hildegard von Bingen's music went through a big revival in the 1990s (at least in classical and New Age circles) and a bunch of recordings of her music were made. Some albums are a little lame (excessive synthesizer and new age flute breaks) but the more straightforward renditions are awesome and were how I fulfilled my bardcore needs before bardcore existed. Off the top of my head, I'd recommend "Feather on the Breath of God" as a good place to start listening to von Bingen's work. You might also want to check out Maedival Babes' early albums, if you like the medival vibes.
I have a few of those Hildegard Von Bingen 90's albums but without synth (shudder), very useful for relaxing too or going to sleep to. I originally found this channel coz I thought someone had done some more recordings, stayed coz it is still awesome.
The poetry of Hildegard von Bingen in the original German is stunning imho. It’s one of those things that everyone should read. It’s also one of the reasons my curiosity was aroused by this channel. Loved the ethereal sound of the singers voice & ive been hooked ever since as it reminds me of the poetry.
Two things: 1) Thank you, maiden godess of bardcore melodies for this blessing upon my ears! 2) UA-cam when I say notify me for all, I also mean notify me promptly, please... Anytime this is uploaded without my knowledge, is a sadness upon me

the modern depiction of "witches", the ones you see at movies, books, and so on, are merely an invention, these stuff didn't happen at Christendom. They're legends created by the calvinists in england and the United States, or merely folk stories from Ireland.
@Austin Faulds I was kinda thinking of the three witches from Macbeth when I wrote that comment. Macbeth is set in 11th century Scotland (technically, medieval)
I' faith, yon madrigals be of finer quality than the originals, most especially for the angellic voices therein. Pray issue a Compacted Discus of your minstrel-work, for I employ archaic devices, as well as archaic language.
Indeed. The archaic devices do yet impart a more pleasing timbre.
Why would a Rodanian learn such an archaic form of galactic basic?
@@Christian-rn1ur I refer you to the scroll: "A LONG TIME AGO, in a galaxy far, far away." 😉

Thanks Beedo Sookcool. You made my day.
Han shootist thee first!
This has got to be my favorite of your covers, it’s so beautiful.
Thank you, that means a lot to me!
I love how the bardcore first started as a meme-y parody to pop song and then HVB just elevate the whole genre
No other bardcore cover artist holds a candle to Hildegard von blingin'. I mean, the Voice the Lyrics they're all just so good and add so much to it. Way better than the bardcore instrumental covers you see on youtube. Hildegard will always be my absolute favourite bardcore singer
i was so hoping to see someone contradict you in the answers. just to have the chance of, maybe, discovering a good bardcore singer, you know?
ahh, dang it
@@log9357 good news, I have a recommendation for you. Her name is Hildegard von blingin' 😂

Yess! Bardcore versions with lyrics seem to be quite rare, sadly...

I love how they kept the lyric, "Like the stars miss the sun in the morning sky" because it's just already so poetic HAHA
As a music major and music history enthusiast, your arrangements are absolutely breathtaking! You even sing in the style!! ❤ It makes my heart so happy! Keep doing what you're doing, and thank you for your contributions! Your versions bring out a whole other beauty of the songs you cover. Amazing!
I'm also a huge fan of puns, so your stage name and coining of the term "Bardcore" brings me so much joy, even on top of your work.
I shall play this below my lady's window overmorrow. She is to be wed, but perhaps this shall remind her of our time before such pain befell us. I pray she shall forsake her title and betray her father's wishes and flee with me.

@@jeannestandley-kinata824 @derdiedas Ems I thank you deeply for your well wishes, perhaps they are what have caused my good fortune! I had no need to seek out my lady, for late last night, my lady stood outside mine own window and played this very song. We have been riding north ever since, far away from our titles and responsibilities, to live in a small town near the coast until we pass from this mortal realm. The future is unsure and every hour I fear I shall hear the king's horses rampaging through this forest at our heels, yet never before has my heart been so full of bliss. I pray our future be one of joy, and that love's light wings carry us to that beautiful destiny.
Was just listening to Creep with the girlfriend, perfect timing.
I saw a comment on another video with a similar pfp to theirs and I wondered how long it was since they last uploaded and it was 5 minutes lol
Same here
Creep is still my fav arrangement from her, though Summertide Sorrow is a pretty close second. Those harmonies in Creep though.
You were featured on a podcast (The World) episode about Bardcore recently!!

'Like Godiva, hair loose down to the thigh' is my new favorite lyric. ever
Never knew this song reimagined as bardcore would hit as the 2020 plague anthem
BUT. in a good way. Thats madness.
This actually hits harder than the original, I nearly cried.
2:51 mark is my limit
Actually I did cry, well at least dropped some tears. Such a wonderful voice.
Her Jaunt is also a classic
Does not she belong to the King? It sayeth in her name, verily.
She also composed lesser known melodies such as Cerulean Tunic, Intoxicated By The Seashore and Ardor For Life (composed in association with certain bard often dubbed as The Sabbath).
Friend: "Are you crying at bardcore music again?"
Me, sniffling: "No! Shut up, you're crying!"
2:53 I literally started to tear up at this part. It made me think of a widowed old peasant describing how much she misses her husband. She wishes more than anything to see him again. But she knows she must move on and marry a merchant for his money to survive.
Honestly. Your voice sounds like that of an angel. It's a rare and beautiful thing, thank you for sharing it with us.
The gorgeous vocals really set Hildegard apart from any other bardcore I've heard. I love it.
Hasn’t even been 3 seconds in when she started singing and I already got chills. Her voice is so hauntingly beautiful 🥰
I listen to this unironically, your voice calms me so much, not even kidding.
Yup me too, it's fantastic!
totally agree
I wish thou wouldst make these available also through the minstrels Deezer and Spotify, for the time I may spend with Minstrel UA-cam hath been limited by my beloveth family.
Here here!

Agreed. I wish they were on spotify
You can dowload them into an mp3 then import them into Spotify.
You can use Musi which I feel is better than spotify with only a few cons
It is purely amazing how you not only created the music from the Middle Ages, bit worked with the language and the details to match the time period. I'm in owe! Greetings from Russia! 💖💝💘

Ridin' down the shore, in 1099.
Excellent performance, Milady.
Omg! I never even thought about what if Lana's song got the medieval treatment until this! Great as always 😁
I love it how this started as a meme and now has become a legitimate and well appreciated genre of music.
Always cool when meme songs are so well executed they actually become good tracks on their own
In the middle of talking to my mom about something else entirely while scrolling through my UA-cam feed, I confuse the hell out of her by suddenly exclaiming, "Yay!"
I have missed thee so, milady.
This is absolutely stunning, Lana del Rey is such a powerhouse, and this song is so hauntingly beautiful, and then it’s sang in bardcore????? This is a mash-up fit for the gods 💕💕💕💕
This song causes me heavy sadness, an echo of once was and never will be in my life.
“I shall miss thee forever. Like the stars miss the sun in the morning sky”
The next time someone asks me if something is wrong I'm going to hit with "Tis but summertide sorrow, my dude."
Me, eagerly awaiting the glorious day that Hildegard von Blingin makes a Patreon so we can finally repay her for the musical gifts she brings to this tepid world 👀
this is *angelic*
truths solely
The way the lyrics were changed to make them have sense in this contest just is the cherry on top, truly masterpiece
Oh.
YES! I NEEDED THIS! THE WORLD NEEDED THIS!
I'm but a simple woman : I see Lady Hildegard uploads a new song, I have to hear and love.
Thank you so much, we longed for your songs.

Think of all the many masterpiece songs that didn't survive written history.
I really appreciate how you don’t just change the music, but the lyrics as well. And the fact that you are able to rhyme with those words.
All I can think of is a heartbroken peasant woman.

I apologize, for my middle English has not been polished
And we are blessed to have Saint Hildegard von Bingen in our age again.
What a beautiful gift to receive. Wow never knew that :)
Two things:
1) Thank you, maiden godess of bardcore melodies for this blessing upon my ears!
2) UA-cam when I say notify me for all, I also mean notify me promptly, please... Anytime this is uploaded without my knowledge, is a sadness upon me
I never understood how could people fall in love with a specific band or musicians, or whenever they told me "their music is unique". I also never understood how could people hype upcoming songs or albums in the same way.
Till i heard Hilde. I get it now.
Your voice, performing, creativity and wit are amazing. These lyrics you came up with are every bit worth of your voice and absolutely perfect for the medieval style. Thanks for sharing your exceptional and good humored talent here!🤩
