Andy, Flores learned that Daboll was hired for the Giants position right before Flo was supposed to interview with them. They are part of the reason he's suing the league. There's no way he will be their HC.
Also it's widely reported that Giants ownership loves Daboll, so it's not super likely that he gets canned. More likely he's given a chance to reboot with a new QB.
I think Flores with the bengals would be lit they got stars on offense can put up points the defense is trash , you bring in Flores that team could get really good extremely quick
Awesome analysis of the potential job openings! Giants make a ton of sense, and what if they went after Darnold and then drafted Hunter? Would be a fun situation for him to be in!
Just because you are an excellent coordinator, doesn’t make you an excellent coach. Flo’s first stint in Miami proved that. Pay the man like a head coach. Give him the respect he deserves and 🙏 that he stays!!!
Who will take over,,?is there a coach onboard that knows that system?if we get someone that wants to change things after we got a lot of guys that fit now?guess we’ll wait and see what happens
I think hes waiting for that dream job at NY Giants or Jets after they have a calamity and he can fully reset the franchise with his own way and philosophy. He wont leave just at an any opening, it has to be the absolutely right Job because hes in demand so much that he knows he'll be able to pick and choose.
Ben Johnson probably thinking the same thing. If Zac Taylor gets fired, Bengals would be a prime spot. The offense is there, just have to retool the defense
I think teams drafting a QB might hesitate to hire Flores as HC. Now, if the Bengals job opens up, that would be a perfect fit and I think it would be very likely that we lose Flores.
The difficult conversation to have: is Flores a better HC than KOC? More games than not the defense out plays our offense with arguably less talent. I love KOC…but is this Mike Tomlin 2.0?
I promise you this, the defense wouldn’t be playing this well with a different hc, including Flores. Players learn from Flores, but they play for KOC..
Not the same. It was clear to everyone except ownership that Childress wasn’t the answer and that Tomlin had all the qualities that you want in a HC. Letting him walk out the door while retaining Childress was unforgivable. That was actually closer to the Stefanski and Zimmer conversation than this one as it was clear that Zimmer was on the decline and Stefanski was a bright, young coordinator with a promising future. Many of us were upset at Childress/Tomlin 2.0 when they let Stefanski leave while retaining Zimmer. This situation though? KOC is a bright, young head coach with (almost certainly) multiple winning seasons and an upward trajectory. A players’ coach that has built a winning culture. Flores is a great complement and counterpoint to KOC with his tough mentality and aggressive approach to defense. He is the perfect foil to KOC and prevents the Vikings from becoming too soft. They are a great duo, but the Vikings would not be better off with Flores instead of KOC. And a DC with an edge is almost certainly easier to replace than a culture building, QB friendly, offensive minded HC.
@@njp2113 that’s a fair point. I just feel Flores is squeezing more out of his assets on D vs KOC on O. I love both of them, I really do. I would make Flores the highest paid assistant coach and keep him here forever, but I understand his desire to me the head coach elsewhere.
What if KOC & Flores just switched? Flores as the head coach and KOC as the offensive coordinator? That way they both stay in Minnesota and Flores can still operate the defense. As long as KOC wouldn't mind! I like Flores and I like KOC.
The HC sets the culture. That is KOC. Even if this fantasy could ever happen in reality, it wouldn’t make sense. Each of them is best in the role they have and the on field performance shows this. Offer assistant HC to Flores and to pay him $1 less than KOC’s next contract and hope he stays. They are a great duo but KOC is the culture builder and leader of the team. I think Flores has learned alot about leadership from him and he might be ready for a successful second stint as a HC but it won’t be with the Vikings.
Good 💡 idea. But another paradox would be Kevin may not desire to be an offensive coordinator. Number 2, if Flores is a head coach there is no guarantee the new defensive coordinator would call a game as good as Flores. Lastly, if Flores accepts a box and Kevin leaves it could be a complete collapse. The new offensive coordinator could be a flop and the new defensive coordinator could be a flop. That has happened before when Mike Zimmerman was the Vikings head coach and called his own defensive plays.
Make Flores the highest paid DC in the nfl.
I am NOT ready to let him go, selfishly lol. Four more years, four more years!

If he gets immediately poached and Ben Johnson somehow survives another offseason I’m gonna lose it
Flores needs to stay here, pull a Ben Johnson, and bring us a jeromebardi.
😈🔥💭🥹🥂🙌🏻🏆💜💛
Pay him like a head coach and elevate him to assistant head coach. Pay him $1 less than KOC. Whatever it takes. There isn’t a cap on coaches.

For real!

Yup. It’s the only gig that’s a perfect fit. They need to have a great O and horrible D.
Why? He is, obviously, better suited as a DC than a HC.

Always appreciate your content & Vikings outlook, SKOL! Here's a cgi plug/ dem '93 Jurassic Dinosaus were real, just like our FLO D-Fence.
You also have the trend factor, teams are wanting more offensive minded head coaches. I hope B-Flo stays for you 10 Jerombardi's!
We back in business skol life

I think he would go to the patriots. He is from the area most of his life and got his start there.

The bears are 30th in passing yards, just saying.

I dont think Daboll and Shoen get fired..
his transition is "i have no transition" or "whos not kyle gerbsmidt, who is not"

Nah, defensive head coaches are meh.
