Absolutely awesome having Lucas giving interesting, technically detailed, and object opinion. I enjoyed the last time he was on, and this time was no different. Enjoyable to have Lucas display his experience and knowledge. I hope he is on a regular basis (every 3-6-12 months?), although that ultimately depends on Shmee150 being at the Nurburgring with the GT Black Series 🙂
I will forever say that I love how Shmee actually drives his cars and uses them like they are intended, frankly, cars that are used driven like they should, and having maintenance, parts replaced, etc. are in better condition than those "pristine" cars that spend their lives locked away in some sort of air tight bubble in a private garage, it's like those people don't even know about entropy man 🙄 Everything is always decaying, and the best way to slow it down is to use and give proper maintenance to our things :)
To be fair if the storage you're talking about was actually air tight then any degradation of materials would be minimal to non existent. But I take your general point.
Its a testomy to modern automotive engineering that a 850 bhp car can be usable and durable A car that has more power than a Grand Prix car of recent times, can be used on a daily basis and carry luggage. Its a true icon and downstream will be revered, like cars of the past. But that is not important if you don't use it so thanks to Tim for making it a non garage queen. Its amazing a car with this power can be maintained like a family runaround A great car that provides great content on a great channel. We may never see an IC car like this ever again.
I think you have the most driven AMG GT Black series in the world by now Tim! I watch all your video's! The Shmuseum is going to be epic! Thank you for taking us on all your journeys!
That's really good going through everything mechanical on the car. I love it! I do the same thing, but I have a mechanical tendency of my own so I do a lot of the work on my own and end up loving the auto store and have a connection with a dealer that sells me parts that I need when I'm in need. I knew it would need to be checked out and I love seeing them go through it. Very good you're staying on top of things .
I love Lucas's work and knowledge. Wish we had trust worthy and mechanics that know what there talking about in the states. Can't find nobody to trust your car without getting screwed here in United States. States suck, people have no idea what they are working on and tell you random stuff. Can't find people like Lucas in America
It is doing very well considering the track use and hot climate road use in UAE and USA. Lucas is great. Very knowledgeable and German direct approach is perfect for this video.
Fascinating,, more wear on the right side of the car than left,, traction control, heavy on brake pads,, even single piston heavier on discs,, great video 📷
Love these types of videos. Maybe look at upgrading those rear calipers. Can't believe they run such a small caliper out back, (please don't "James May" me, I understand that the vast majority of the braking is done by the front calipers I just mean with it being a track car it could use the best of the best)
I don't think that most casual viewers or the public know how rare that car is. It's quite interesting for gear heads to see what's going on and what's involved in one of those factory servicing visits.
Good content. Cool to see the wear n tear, and maintenance. This thing deserves it. I would definitely put back under skirts. Keep that baby slippery and planted to the road.❤
10k miles on that thing is very good going for high grip tires. Considering I only get 25k on michelin sport tires on a fwd car with 1/7th of the power...
@@opusinnovation4611 So just stability control uses the rear brakes then? Seems counterintuitive that the rear brakes would wear faster than the front, no?
@@SingleSpeed427 No, the car / braking as such uses obviously the brakes and even with all TC / ESP off, during hard tracking of the car, you would end up with significat wear at the rear due to the brake balance and the little surface being used by the small calliper ...
BS Cars are the best, but after seeing his friends BMW 116 with the A92 M3 engine, I'd love to see Tim buy an A200 and make it an A63BS, It would be an amazing project and the perfect daily.
The front brakes are some serious units but the single caliper rear brakes are surprising. However, if they get the job done, no need for a bigger and heavier setup.
Great vid Tim, but Lucas was roasting Mercedes - Merc fitted wrong brakes on rear (1 not 4 piston) Merc dont torque subframe right Merc using poor plastic on plastic parts
Interesting to see the rear pads and discs being more worn. I guess thats the case with a lot of modern rwd cars especially turbo and front engined, because of the traction control kicking in way more.
These cars are actually slightly heavier in the rear due to transaxle gearbox in the rear and engine position being back the chassis. So quite a lot of brake bias would be going to the rear due to the reduced weight transfer to the front under brakes. Rear brakes will wear as much as the fronts it would seem.
@@j.osborne4914 maybe right. but tc kills rear pads and brakes. all these new turbo cars a so traction limited from the rear that the tc basically holds the car together especially low speed
@@OKF_Max It's hard use on tracks and the necessary braking which kills especially the rear pads and discs, even if you have ALL systems off ... obviously, ESP and even ESP sport as well as TC in the "beginner setting" (which is worse than the ESP Sport) will help to kill them sooner ...
I wonder if Tim is considering a rear brake caliper upgrade? Seeing how much more area there is on the disk that isn't being used I would certainly be doing some investigating into a potential 4 piston replacement.
Probably because of the car you have. It's literally just a car meant for commuting. Not everyone has to use the car the way you want them to, and certainly not if you're critiquing people whose cars are well outside of your ability to afford them
loving the GT black series content but i think its time to see the Senna get driven more
