So I’m assuming the ground doesn’t freeze where you are at. Or is the grade beam thick enough it goes below the frost line? Since the roof is connected to the house the footers/grade beam need to be below the frost line.

You can get down to a 2/12 and usually be safe with metal, so long as it’s flashed at the wall well. In a blowing rain you could see a leak there if not

It is not clear what you are doing?
People need to know step by step in slow motion
Really I couldn't learn anything from this video
Thanks for the constructive advice!
Looks great. Too bad you didnt explain how to do any of it
Hard to explain how to carpenter. You just have to go out and learn it hands on, via mistakes
Good thing it says BUILDING, not HOW TO lol
One question, do you have the plan with the specific measurements? I want to make a patio cover but the HOA asks for a plan.
We charge for that.
Omg what a wonderful job
How do you know where to put the ledger board?
That’s something you have to work out on each specific job
Did you put something like a rim joist up to screw your ledger into?
A ledger yes
How much would this cost to build material and labor you think ?
12-15k in todays dollars
How did you attach your post to your concrete
They are pinned with 1/2” rebar
I just watched your video and you did an excellent job! I am currently building a similar roof over my patio. I was wondering what size yours is LxW?
I believe this job was a 12’ by 26’ if I remember correctly. It’s been a while
@@Biltwel1 I’m building one similar size. Thanks brother for the info!
@@12C4 good luck!
Great work! What is something like this priced at? Material and labor?
12-15k in todays dollars
Did you just set the posts on the concrete
No, they are set on top of concrete
how much you paid for building control development
Not sure I understand your question?
How did you find where to put the ledger board?
The upstairs windows determined that height
@@Biltwel1 ,could you please elaborate how exactly that works ?
@@tatiraman well you have to come in below the windows or move them.
@@Biltwel1 thank you.
What wood you used
Yellow pine and spruce
What do you do about rain? I have a porch that does not have gutters.
Install gutters
what size are those support posts? they look like 8x8s
6x6’s
great build. footing under the posts?
Thickened slab
Hi looks great! Where are you located?
Kentucky
Post just anchored to the existing pad? No footings required?
The patio was poured with a grade beam

@@phillatshaw7219 the grade beam is poured below the frost line yes.
What size joist are you using 2x4?
2x8 if I renter correctly
Remember *
What pitch is that
Just over a 4. Worried about shingles on a low pitch I take it?
what is the price now for something like this
It todays money? Probably around 20
Definitely not 20k! Maybe 2k
@@patrickfrankmann9361 tell me you don’t do this for a living without telling me you don’t do this for a living
@@Biltwel1 meant 12k lol
@@Biltwel1 but what size is your ledger? 2x8 or 2x10?
Nice
Im working on mine too
Can i ask you what is your roof pitch?
Thanks
Just short of a 4/12. Anything less than 3/12 you can not use traditional shingles on.
@@Biltwel1 thank you for your reply,
@@Biltwel1 if we use a metal roof, whats can I use in terms of pitch? My spec s will be 24' down the building and 12' out from the building.

How do the shingles meet the siding?
There is a metal flashing that is tucked under the siding.
I couldn't help but ask after that did you put a starter strip for the shingles? It may be a common sense thing but just curious?
Yes
Y'all moved quick, good job
Thanks!
They didn't actually move that fast, the video was sped up... You can tell because of how fast the clouds are moving
This is great! How many permits did you have to pull? I'm looking to so the same on my house. It's setup just like this house.
Building and electrical
@@Biltwel1 Was it a long process getting permits? What did it entail?
A lot generally speaking
Standing on an upsude down bucket with tools? Someone wants to spend time in the hospital.
