Fedora 40 updated in the middle of the video which changed the Software Update button from inside the About section to the System section inside Settings.
Good video, however as usual some gnome extensions are now broken and I await the ones I use to be updated. I do love Gnome 46 though and it bodes well for the future.
The helpful timestamps enabled me to miss out the installation bit. At 20:00 I think you may mean "very simple" rather than "very simplistic". Very simplistic means "Overly simple. In a manner that simplifies a concept or issue so that its nuance and complexity are lost or important details are overlooked." I don't think that applies to Fedora :).
Yes, you're right. I sometimes say the wrong words when I'm in a flow. I definitely don't think it's simple tho. What I wanted to say is that some people say that GNOME is minimalistic, but I think it's very well structured especially with a few extensions.
Whilst I think the built in screenshot tool is pretty and quite rightly a core app, I think it absolutely falls short. Rarely does anyone just screenshot something and have it immediately saved to a file. The workflow is almost always screenshot something /crop it or /highlight something or /draw something or /underline something. So unfortunately this tool falls short (take a look at windows snipping tool its simple but super effective). I think most will just end up ignoring the default tool and install something with a smidge more usefulness to enable the almost 'default' workflow.
GNOME has a habit of breaking extensions with each upgrade. Not sure about the other customizations tho. If in doubt, ask on reddit, Google around but don't upgrade.
I like GNOME, but its settings is too fragmented. First we have Settings App, installed by default. - There is the shell extension through browser. It's criminal to have browser based installation in 2024.This should have its own App that should be installed by default. - Then you have GDM settings. I always use this, but need to be separately installed. This should have been the App that should launch on right click of desktop and selecting Settings. - Finally we have dconf-editor for power users. A few of these settings need to have their equivalent in Settings App,
You're right, KDE does have Konsole. Although in this case, Console with a C is supplied by default in GNOME OS nowadays. The app by the name "Terminal" last received its update in GNOME 3.5 or something like that. Fedora ships this app by default instead of Console which is the more recent terminal app.
Ah ha, so there's the loose thread: Konsole vs Console. Can't really differentiate between the two when it's spoken as opposed to written.@@GsMultiverse

I always change it to open with a single click, you get used to it fast and it's just a little thing making your flow more comfortable and efficient.
😭 okay, I'm happy for you 😭
Is dnf-5 not coming this release?
Nope :(

Does Gnome care about its users yet :-)
Double Click is for insane people who might open their car, briefcase or lunchbox twice, if they could. :)
