This new defense has a lot of terminology that the players need to learn. Just because they aren’t doing the physical things doesn’t mean that they aren’t still learning and the defense isn’t being implemented.
i mean yeah... macdonald basically said exactly what u said
Yeah, I think the players that are banged up should sit out the optional stuff. Doesn't make sense to rush them into this.
McClendon Curtis has a total of 4 snaps in his NFL career and they're all on extra point or field goal attempts. Will be curious to see how long coach Mac gives him the "veteran" starter status. I know it's OTAs and means nothing right now, but if Laken Tomlinson and McClendon Curtis are our starting guards by preseason game 3, we've got a problem.
Hoping to see JSN continue his play from the 2nd half of last season
Doesn't really matter how good he is when we are stuck with a overpaid back up quarterback starting. I can't believe geno smith will be starting 3+ seasons for the seahawks. How many lost years we gotta do with this guy?
@@jamesmead8460who exactly do you want instead at qb??
@@jamesmead8460 Geno is way better than you give him credit for
@@jamesmead8460 Wake up. The Russell willson years are over and this is what the vast majority of NFL teams deal with.
I’m not convinced about the Riq Woolen problems. No one on our defense could tackle yet for some reason every loves to focus on Riq Woolen w/ a bad shoulder as the main component and it just seems silly to me.
Two time all pro Sauce Gardener was a worse tackler (19.7 missed tackle rate, over 5% worse than Riq), wasn’t injured and no one cares, hell they named him all pro for the second year in a row while Riq has gotten nothing more than Roy3 and a pro bowl.
Meanwhile their coverage numbers are basically identical from targets, completions, yards per target, yards per completion, yards, etc…
All I’m saying is people have taken this narrative and ran with it way to far. Because if Riq Woolen is needs to prove himself this year, Sauce should be out of league. But that’s ridiculous so it’s about time we shut the “Riq can’t succeed because he can’t tackle” narrative down.
Nice summary. I get so tired of the Riq can't tackle narrative. The man injured his shoulder and didn't tackle as well after that. He will be starting and just fine.
I agree wholeheartedly . Everyone wants to play the blame game when the whole team basically underperformed last year. Quite honestly i blame the systems more then the players. Well except for the never ending always happening 3rd down conversions over the middle . That was Inside Linebackers inability to cover . Looks like we have fixed alot of glaring problems in the off season . I am excited to see what it looks like.
Riq woolen is an absolute wet paper bag when it comes to tackling. The whole shoulder injury was a cover up to his gross tackling effort and him getting benched.
@@2jyeti909 yet he can still tackle better than you so keep crying
He wasn't a good tackler before the injury, and was not even trying after it. As a converted WR, I'll give him a little slack. But he has to make dramatic improvement in his effort and technique this year--we have too many CBs as is. JS got rid of all of the other guys that couldn't tackle for us last year. Tariq is good enough of an athlete to make it work if the desire and effort is there.
Defense isn't allowed to make contact or to make plays on the ball in OTAs. Not that JSN won't have a good season, but I wouldn't make too much of his 7 TDs when the CBA says DBs can't actually play D on him.
The defense can't even make plays on the ball? That's kinda dumb
It’s clear Seahawks did not use JSN effectively last season.. although there were clues as to how…
like looking at his COLLEGE TAPE
Playcalling was horrible. It is a miracle the team went 9-7 last year.
He also had a broken hand he was nurturing
He is the best route runner on the team behind Lockett
@@2jyeti909 he is a far better route runner than lockett
@@evanlevenseller3080 I wouldn't say far better. But he definitely has more potential due to his younger age.
I can't wait for JSN to take over!!
Thanks!
You bet!
Dodson was at practice you see him there during the Micd up practice with Macdonald.
Olave and Harrison both said that JSN is the best of the 3... unconcerned woth him... even if you don't play alot his route running is exceptional and he'll get open a lot in a Grubb offense..
ILB I'm not worried about and you can't afford for them tonhurt themselves in an OTA.. especially when they're both on 1year deals... they're not changing a knee injury but I'm sure they have their Surface pads loaded up and the playbook they'll know before preseason starts you can bet on that playing for multi-year deals this year...
As fornthe guard Spots I truly believe that they're allowing the "VET" to run woth the one's to see of he'll even make our roster at this point. We drafted our starting Guard and Bradford will back up if he doesn't get passed by the 5thbrounder from Utah who's impressive in his own right...
OLU will Starr at Center and Laken will man the LG position and we won't have the problem we had last year at RT with the resigning of of the backup who's got plenty of expierence...
ILB is concerning or at least unknown how all these new guys will perform. Lucky we have a 3-4 with great versatility at OLBs/edges and dline
I think JSN will excel, he actually wants to win. And what I mean by that is he wants to do his best for the team, and win, where as someone like Lockett is more playing and trying not to get hurt instead of giving his all. Hopefully this also makes D.K. better and you see JSN and D.K. thrive and Lockett becomes more of first down getter and still comes up with some great plays, where he doesn't have to be put in harms way to make the play.
If JSN breaks his leg like Tyler we’ll see if he starts making business decisions.
@@ryanpetheram6943 hilarious comment, injuries can happen to anyone, ask Jamaal Adam's...did you back him up 100% of the time? Did you comment on everyone's page BRING HIM BACK???
Drake Thomas? Did something happen to him? Is he at OTA's? I thought he would be back from his injury by now.
injuries are something you can't control and somethings always gonna happen just trust the coaches to get the plater that are not on the field mental reps and tape to learn the new defense
play JSN outside more!
They get paid whether they show up to ota or not right
new team, new folks... please be SURE to add their position titles till we learn who's who in the zoo. You 'eventually' get around to mentioning who they are (mostly) - but get those position titles out in FRONT please!!
I think JSN will be fine. He was so misused last year. Almost 50% of his targets were behind the LOS. WTF? That's not his game... he's not Deebo Samuel. He's a Cooper Kupp (ceiling) kind of player who operates out of the slot and attacks the mid portion of the field because he recognizes (like Kupp who torched Seattle's stubborn cover 3) zones and knows where to sit or how to attack underneath. That is moreso very dangerous with Seattle because MetCalf pulls safeties with him... so safeties have to be careful guarding the middle where JSN would operate. You're leaving one of them 1 on 1... and both are very hard to stop 1/1 if used correctly. That's the key word, USED CORRECTLY. Which Waldron had no f'ing clue how to do.
JSN also proved he can play outside and make deep plays happen, but his best production will come from attacking underneath and exploiting zones because he has the ability to see it quickly. Not a lot of WRs have that and it's something that is not easy to learn - if ever (some guys just don't have the processing speed), that's why JSN was the best WR of that class.
Now some will say, "Well all Grubb did was attack the outside." Well, McMillian was injured for a good chunk of 2023 (and prob. didn't come back 100%)... in 2022 McMillian put up 1K+ yards and almost 10 TDs primarily out of the slot. He started 2023 with incredible production on the team with 3 TDs and 300+ yards after 3 games. So Grubb knows how to attack the middle of the field.
This news has reinforced my belief that we absolutely messed up this offseason at linebacker… we shouldn’t have drafted two cb’s either, we need to find a corner needy team and ship them off for a reasonable linebacker cause if knight doesn’t pan out (I don’t think he will) and a starter goes down we will get spanked in the run game AGAIN
The run defense will be much better by mid season. Hankins and Murphy up front with a deep rotation. We were playing better until Ucenna went down in week 7. He is back, Mafe had a breakout year, and the rookie edge was good against the run and will hopefully take a step forward. They are using Jones at edge. Baker and Dotson will be good on running downs. Dotson needs to go out on passing downs when they use 3 safeties. Using Witherspoon at nickel will help run defense. The dude is a dawg!
We signed 2 pro bowl ILB's and drafted a speedster in the draft who doesn't miss tackles... we needed them CB's in order to move Spoon around as we really don't have a nickle corner but nothing of these can COVER... LB won't be an Issue and is actually a great UPGRADE against the middle of the field passing lanes which we got burned time and time again against by anyone who saw the 49ers play us...
@@divorcing_dadsBaker and Dodson have never made a Pro Bowl….and it doesn’t mean Jack crap anymore since they don’t even play a real game anymore….its a fan popularity vote and they play games like at recess….get your facts straight…..
RE: JSN: that's because he's a REAL receiver that knows HOW to get separation and not a fake like #14 is.
You're definitely a little kid
Sorry for having to respond to your comment, but your comment is trash. DK is on a different level than JSN. Both are high-quality receivers, just different styles. Jsn runs quick, DK runs fast. 🎯💯
Finally someone with an actual brain and not a DK nut hugger. Dude is stiff as a fridge and gets happy feet running a slant.
@@cameronrobinson4278DK Metcalf is a glorified john Ross who has the most penalties since 2019 and has the lowest catch rate on the team. Stop sucking up and open your eyes
too bad you're not the gm... they could really use a GENIUS like you calling the shots 😂😂
All the games in the state of play were rubbish. IGN(orant) was ripping on concord so funny.
Bakerr a big nothing burger
