  • While new Seattle Seahawks coach comes from a background strong built to a style of scheme, he has shown a unique willingness to evolve the scheme, and shows further indications he's going to continue to evolve it.

Practicing against Mike's scheme is going to make the offense and our QBs better as well... it's going to force our offense to adjust and see new things they're not used to on a regular basis, which may make recognizing how to exploit vanilla defenses in the NFL a piece of cake for them. I think his style of D will raise everyone's football IQ.
And then you got Witherspoon... he can play outside corner, nickel, box, man, zone, play against a #1/#2/#3, etc... McVay puts Kupp in the nickel often but does shift him outside, no problem for Spoon if you want him on Kupp. that pick turned out being perfect for MacDonald because Witherspoon's football IQ is through the charts and I bet he gets MacDonald's approach/scheme before anyone else does... I think Witherspoon will be a locker room leader this year because he's going to be the one explaining to everyone in the secondary wth is going on lol.

What makes Mike a good coach is his ability to teach

100%, man one of the Alll-22 games I watched from last season was our game against the Ravens and while extrremely painful for a Seahawk fan, it was crazy watching all those shifts happening on D, and Geno was basically just obviously cloudy mentally the whole time...love Geno, but this D trashed a LOT of good QBs, so super excited to see what it does on the field. Gotta say though, Imentioned to you that I was a Teacher, right? ....the hardest part of trying to teach complexity is that it takes a long time to both digest and stick, but I mean in terms of the muscle memory for the players, AND especially with our YOUTH, it's going to be very difficult to implement this kind of stuff right away, so I expect we're going to get pushed arouns quite a bit in the first half of the season and other teams' offenses are going to make us look silly for a while

Yes MM plays more 2 high that Wink but that would've been a prerequisite when he arrived at Michigan in 21 by Jim Harbaugh. Don Brown had just been fired he ran an exclusive 1 high safety/man under system which was excellent vs everyone except OSU.
Wink is currently at Michigan, Minter was there last year beside the fact that there's a different person calling the plays and that Minter & MM are less aggressive than Wink according to the current Michigan defenders its the same defense they ran last 3 years.
Not sure why theres this huge movement for MM to separate himself from Wink. I would say the Harbaugh's too have had a huge impact. Its the best defense out there see Michigan national title or the Ravens last year.
I personally like the way MM & JM run the defense as they dont give up the big play while still getting that free runner through ghost blitzing a ton.

Yeah Macdonald only held them to zero points in the second half of the afc championship game. But typical fan blames the defense when Lamar Jackson couldn't score more than 20 points

@@thomascox9362 that’s kinda a stretch from my comment. The whole nfl is getting beat by Andy Reid. Has been for a long time. I like what I’ve seen from both grubb and Macdonald’s half time adjustments. Being a head coach is a lot different than being a coordinator, and many try to make the jump and fail. I’m a Seahawks fan and have been one for a long time. I don’t want to get hyped cause I know what the fans will be like if the hawks start 3-7. I won’t really have an opinion about Macdonald till deep into the season. Cheers tho

@@codyhughes4472 that completely stupid. Andy Reid would be nothing without mahomes.. i will give you that reid is a great coach but if he so great he would have won super bowl with Alex Smith or he would still be in Philadelphia winning super bowls there. You just like me don't know if Macdonald will be a great coach or likel Nathaniel hackett, or even brandon staley. I will give reid his due but I seen great coach like Jimmie Johnson, belicheck, carroll, bill walsh, and holmgren coach and numerous of others. And they that didn't need to trade up to get once in a generation qb. But I will guarantee you this if mahomes was not his qb he would be fired or forced to retire. He lucky and you know it.

‘Sean McVay of defense’. Intelligence and willing to change is the key for victory in the modern NFL!
