    You nailed it out of the park on this one!! Exactly what I want from a naked. A little bit of a cruiser, little bit of a super, a little bit of a hooligan but a whole lot of fun and confidence for your everyday rider. Well done my man and well done Kawasaki for making an affordable decent platform. I also happen to think it looks amazing! Ahh so 😂🙏

    Great review Chris! The bike is stellar. While you mentioned nothing about this, I'm always entertained by the universal love for quick shifting and in the same breath, the hate for automatics, (DCT, ASA, AMT, etc.). I've no skin in the game, just seems a hair splitting exercise.

    • @ewganhoff

      It's kinda the same with all the people bashing the Niken. They'd queue round the block for a magic new front tyre that promised nearly 100% more grip than any tyre before it, but call the Niken cheating, or not a real bike, or only for people who can't ride.

    Great review Chris. You hit the nail on the head, that the real purpose of the bike is ride on everyday roads at reasonable speeds. With great midrange and max torque and HP at lower rpm, this bike will not be lacking compared to the Hornet or GSX S1000. Looks better too. In New Zealand the Hornet is being priced way out of the money. Not on the list.

    I'm glad that Chris gets that these kinds of bikes need to be fun on the road at road speeds first and foremost.
    Seems most of these bike manufacturers can't attract the cream of the software engineering crop to figure out how to make these apps they keep pushing actually work. Nobody ever mentions these apps or connectivity things in anything more than a "oh yeah and there's some kind of app". Most owner reviews say they are a pain to set up, unreliable, and of limited use.

    Thank you Chris. Unlike most other reviewers you didn't spend the whole review singing the virtues of the Honda Hornet 1000 and saying how much better it is compared to the review on the Z900 they were supposed to be doing. Conveniently forgetting that it's the z1000 not the Z900 that's Kawasaki's Hornet 1000 competitor, not a good competitor but the competitor none the less. At least you compared it to it's real competitors in the MT-09 etc. Well done Chris and Bike World for real and interesting bike journalism.

    • @Barak600
      @Barak600 8 днів тому

      But Kawi retired the Z1000 brother, so for real the hornet is the direct competitor to the Z900 due to the fact they are both inline 4 engines. MT09 is a triple which sets it apart.

    • @MTBrider26
      @MTBrider26 8 днів тому

      @Barak600 not on all markets. Can still buy them in Au and elsewhere. But not having the Z1000 doesn't move the Z900 up one class by default. It still remains an MT-09 etc class competitor. By that logic if Yamaha stops making the MT-10 then the MT-09 moves up a class to complete the Hornet 1000 as well?

  • @exothermal.sprocket
    @exothermal.sprocket 10 днів тому +1

    Most everything you said, I remember in the 2017 version I used to have. Then I went and got the 2018 MT-09.... wet noodle. After a good number of years dealing with it, wondering if I want to stick thousands into making it handle, I decided nah. I've ridden the 2023 version and it's totally improved but I still don't find the chassis that solid, confidence inspiring, set-the-line-and-drive sense you get on the Z.
    With all the technology updates and better IMU-informed stuff, it's a winner. You didn't mention cruise control but that's a good feature for some trips, commutes, chilling. LOVE THE LOOK of that rear tail light. So much better, very sophisticated, sleek, visible with the wide light piping.
    I like the idea that turning off ABS requires wheelie skills. Something to aspire to, oddly enough 😆

    Great review. Chris does an excellent job, as always, of presenting the changes made to the bike and, in this case, the idea of what makes a great naked. As someone who currently rides a KTM Duke I also want a "do-it-all" experience from a good naked.

    Because these kinds of bikes are enjoyable no matter what you're doing, a lot of folks who can only own one bike will consider the new Z900. For that reason, I think Kawasaki throwing extra tech at the bike to assist with the daily commute is actually a good idea. Besides, when you're out in the twisties you can just keep it all switched off.

    Holy F its so hard to pick a bike. Theyre all awesome. The better ones dont have a key feature. The ones you like less than others have that key feature you want but lack elsewhere..

    I still don't get why the Z900 and Z1000 have such a similar p/w ratio - (.435 kW/kg & .475 kW/kg respectively). Did Kawasaki forget to move the 1000 on after donating its engine to the 900?

    I like the tech updates, but the weight and ugliness still put me off. I was really hoping for an aluminum chassis and an updated design. That headlight looks like it came straight from Aliexpress.

      Headlamp unit is beautiful...I'm qualified to comment on such,I imported the genre into the UK in 1997 onwards, was involved in the first Aprilia RSV conversion which spawned the Tuono,Aprilia was that impressed...and as they say,the rest is history!

      @williamrae9954 well, sounds like you maybe the figurative mother in "a face only a mother could love", then.
      Looks are subjective and I'm glad at least someone likes it. I certainly don't, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in that though.
