One of the few times I am truly envious. What a wonderful setup for the next month with two amazing motorcycles to boot. Hope I get to be in that position some day! Have a fantastic time in Spain Mr. & Mrs. Flyer!
Strapping routine ALWAYS; Ratchet straps so suspension is compressed a bit so it can’t bounce. Always best to strap on side stand if room to do so and ratchet down suspension. (Think ferry crossings). Stop after 10 miles, (less if rough roads), check, re tighten. This is important, don’t neglect it. If ok at first 10 miles, then check everytime you stop for a break. If it wasn’t ok, check after another 10 miles, repeat until no change. Then check every break stop as above.
Also, if you trailer a bike with semi-active suspension, bike needs to be alive or running when you strap it down or you can easily blow out your fork seals.
The ferry company put my Wing on its side stand and then strapped the side stand to the front wheel, stopping the side stand from flipping back if it rolled forward and the bike falling over. Also, strapping the front brake ON seemed a good idea. Lastly, a strap over the seat and down to the rings in the deck was the norm. However, it’s important to put something between the strap and the seat to ensure the seat isn’t damaged. Apologies if any egg sucking here?
Trailering bikes to a destination seems such a logical thing to do. No worrying about what kit you can find space for, no concern if it throws it down with rain all the way there or back, sleep in the car if needed, etc etc etc. I'm all for it..!
@ Seems a promising idea. Only fly in the ointment that I can see is needing the extra parking space when you get “there”, wherever that maybe? Especially when staying in hotels? Just to add, we've just returned to UK Grim from Gran Canaria and I couldn't get over how smooth, pot hole free, the roads were, same in Lanzarote, and mainland Spain. Roads in the UK are darn-right dangerous for motorcyclists, and cyclists.
So true, the UK has the worst roads by far compared to so many countries. Maybe the only exception is Greenland since there are so many gravel tracks😂 But to list a few so you don't think I'm just comparing to a few countries; Orlando, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland, Lanzarote. ALL have better roads. Sure maybe a bit of steeper camber runoffs, a bit of delamination of the tarmac causing rough spots here and there, but NEVER is there drains running down the edge of the road that are recessed like we get everywhere in the UK. Best a safest way to strap the front of a bike down is to use the fork lowers with the straps over the axle between the brake disc and fork lower inner. The fork lowers aren't subject to any suspension movement so the bike is still free to move up and down if necessary, but the straps stay 100% secure at all times.

Great idea MSF - enjoying the warm weather and on your best bike too! Could I make a suggestion? On your tie down straps if you try hooking "under" rather than "over" the tie down eye they shouldn't dislodge so easily and if you tighten them down so that the suspension on both bikes is fully compressed it stops them skipping over bumps. You shouldn't be worried about doing this because this is how bikes are tied down on delivery from the factory.

Hope you have a fantastic time there. 9:43 Haha, typical Englishman can't help complain about the sun which is the whole reason you're there! 🤣 Looking forward to seeing what you get up to.
What a fantastic idea! Your Winging It tour was so good, I expect following you and Carol exploring will be as equally enjoyable. Would love to see you exploring Gibraltar.
Brilliant trailer guys 👍 I use carabiners at work, spring ones or screw ones. Also get a couple of road cones and leave in the trailer so when lowering the door you can place one on each corner to prevent someone driving into the ramp/door. Have a great riding holiday 😎 and I hope Mrs flyer is mic'd up this time 👍
When I tie down bike in the trailer, i make sure the springs on the bikes are well compressed. Either ratchet them down, or have someone on the bike to push it down. If done correctly the bike won't be "sinking" no more regardless the bumps you encounter, and the hooks won't get loose. No tape needed.
Good move. Glad you have the cash to do it and we get to see more of Spain. As a resident of the rainforest of the PNW, we will also not spend any more time here in winter than necessary once we retire!
There's a reason so many MotoGP racers are Spanish. The country is a motorcycling paradise. I lived in Andalucia off and on for 10 years and bought a BMW K model when they were first released. Best years of my life.
What a superb idea and set up. Don't blame you one bit seeing how miserable the weather is here. I was in Gibraltar in November last year as my friend and his wife are stationed there for 3 years with the RAF. Highly recommend a visit. No good for riding but great to walk around, hike the rock and enjoy food and drink at casemates square or ocean village if you fancy a weekend off the bike. Spanish border force can he a pain so look for updates

Normally ride here on a BMW GS1200, but this year on my Honda ADV350, which is a far better bike to have once you are at your destination. Enjoy.
All the best to you both for your stay in Spain, i hope you have a fabulous time and I look forward to seeing the forthcoming episodes 👍
Thank you so much!
It looks lovely and the apartment looks delightful. I hope you both have a very pleasant stay with lots of nice weather.
Great move! Enjoy the nicer weather guys, thanks for sharing.
TMF living the dream! I really happy for you, mate. It must be doing wonders for your headspace just being in some sunshine. Hope you have a fantastic time there.
9:43 Haha, typical Englishman can't help complain about the sun which is the whole reason you're there! 🤣
Looking forward to seeing what you get up to.
What a fantastic idea! Your Winging It tour was so good, I expect following you and Carol exploring will be as equally enjoyable. Would love to see you exploring Gibraltar.
That’s the plan!
Beautiful home for a lovely couple. Happy days in your new life !
Have a great month. Looking forward to some videos.
Take care
Good on you both …. I’m envious but looking forward to seeing the vids from your travels 👍🏻
Living near the Colorado Rockies this time of year my dream to move to Spain always rises, enjoy your stay!
Beautiful day in Spain! wow, super nice apartment! I'm retiring this year. You've given me a winter time destination for 2026!
Great video guys, lovely apartment too. Your lucky with that ferry crossing! I’ve been over The Bay 5 times, 2 were horrific. Looking forward to your rides around Andalusia, try going over to Grazalema from Ronda and the fantastic mountain road to Zahara. Keep Sentenil in mind too. Have a great time.
Awesome video. Who wouldn’t wish to be there.
Just incredible to see some ☀️ on a stunning Kawasaki 900 ! 🙏💪 🏍️
Fantastic idea, enjoy yourselves. That’s the problem with hooks on tie downs straps, you really have to load the suspension, what worked for me was to replace them with carabiners 😊
I’m going to get some large cable ties and secure the hooks into the eyes that way.
A jealous greeting from the really cold and dark Germany. Love your channel. Enjoy the time!
Thanks for watching!
Great move Andy, I did the same 25+ years ago and I've not looked back. If you want to experience some amazing roads, food and scenery in central or western Spain give me a shout. I'm based in Madrid. Enjoy your wonderful roads and weather!
Great vid . Spain looks good and nice roads ride safe .
Very jealous of you weather looks great for being out on the bike, apartment looks amazing too. Enjoy your time in the sun. ☹️
Thanks for sharing. Being in Asia, this was a treat to see Spain behind handlebars.
Brilliant arrangement, well done 😂
Hola Mr Flyer 😂, we made it to Spain back in 2018 and stayed !!!. Enjoy your time in the sun 👍
Amazing!
Morning Andy .. absolutely fantastic plan to be able to ride through the depths of winter .. I also have an 900 RS SE but mine won’t be seeing tarmac until all the crud and salt has been washed away. .. really jealous
Great idea for a series of interesting new content .. would be great to know to understand the planning stage such as how you came to find the villa , ease of booking, transport costs blah blah .. I’m sure that a lot of us at a certain age would find this extremely helpful and an aid to be able similar planning.. enjoy the sun and keep vlogging please
Love that part of Spain played golf out there before getting into biking looking forward to the carol and Andy show 😀
Hi Andy … Greetings from a 4c North Devon !!!! How exciting and another inspiring film … The trailer makes sense and there is method in your madness !!! Now in retirement, I need to explore these options .. Super interesting.. Such great content on TMF channel .. Can’t wait to see the series of films this trio will offer as you explore .. Take care both of you … Thanks .. Mike
I'm not jealous at all 😭😭😭 brilliant idea, Carol looks a bit nervous of riding on the right you'll be fine especially with fearless leader in andy 😀 seriously though you'll be fine 🫡
Cool😊 I live 4 months of the year in the same area, with 2 bikes in Spain and 3 in Norway it is the perfect setup for me in the winter 🌞 I have done more than 60000 kilometres in southern Spain and never get tired of it! So many amazing roads and places to visit nearby, be careful though in the higher altitudes because can be winter and snow there to😉
Great video as always
Sounds great!
I lived in this area for 10 years to say I’m a little bit jealous would be an understatement. Good luck to the both of you 🍻
Living the dream ! That’s a stunning apartment btw
Lucky man - escaping to Spain with a lovely lady!
Golf club covers or similar to protect the bar ends whilst in transport! Lovely temperatures in the winter, hideous temps in the height of summer! Have fun! Cheers.
Nice Andy.. Well jealous.. My Parents live in Spain and although a slight chill in winter the riding is amazing :) enjoy buddy... looking forward to the content.
Good luck in Spain and thanks for the info on the Aoocci as i bought one after your last video about it.
Hope you enjoy it!
Wonderful stuff and fabulous apartment. Looking forward to much white van free sweeping road and Freddie Dobbs style cuisine!
Not sure I can keep up with the veggie diet!
Living in Gibraltar. Some amazing roads roads and beautiful villages around Andalusia and Ronda is an absolute gem of a place. The best time of the year to be here but the summer is absolute hell on the bikes.
Couldn't agree more!
Am highly envious that you get to have adventures like this, my wife will not even sit on the bike in the garage let alone learn and have her own bike. Enjoy the time together away and the decent weather
El folleto de Missenden...I love it!
Absolutely beautiful, enjoy.
Make everyday count and enjoy. Was a little confused ,No Traffic Cones ,Pot Holes to dodge ! We need Spanish Road Builders NOW!! . Ride Safe
