I know you might think these bikes don’t really belong in the same class, and that I should be comparing the Hornet to the Z1000, but since the Z1000 hasn’t been updated since 2014 (over 10 years ago!), it wouldn’t be a fair matchup against the brand-new Hornet. On the other hand, the differences between the Z900 and Hornet aren’t huge. Both have inline-4 engines, similar displacement, and are in the same price range. So, this comparison is really more about helping you decide which naked bike to go for under £10,000.
Z1000 got a slipper clutch in 2016 and new rear suspension Euro4 and gear indicator in 2017 ... Also the R model came out in 2017. But even if that's similar on paper, that's a totally different philosophy. The Z1000 has no electronics on purpose, it's the "Sugomi" spirit , it's just you and the bike ⚔️
Unless buyer is a die-hard kawi or only wants a green color bike, otherwise I cannot get a single point or scenario where you need to choose z900 over cb1000. Honda indeed wins this competition in every aspect, literally, every way
If you look at it from purely performance. Yes Honda wins. Ironically, anywhere else, kawasaki is better. Fit and finish looks a lot better on new z900. Switch gear looks very clean and crisp. New TFT screen looks a lot better on z900. More electronics (especially cruise control) make daily riding far more enjoyable. IMU is a good safety feature. New z900 engine is supposed to be very fuel efficient (can be very useful if you daily ride) I think you have to try them out to see how they fare. Wouldnt be surprised if they felt very similar in normal riding. In europe the prices are pretty much identical between the z900 and hornet.
@@Stratocasterhead51 in depends on what country u are in, bcus brands like suzuki is a favorite on othe middle east countries and some countries favorites are yamaha, so if kawasaki is the popular one in ur country then u would think kawasaki is better.
@@SomewhereInside Loud. Buffetting isnt necessarily more severe than on bikes with windscreens. Put it this way, if you have to do a lot of motorway riding, get earplugs and a quiet helmet (neotec, schuberth) and it will make things a lot better.
Im pretty sure the hornet does not have a seperate wheelie control function. Its tied into the traction control. Which is a bummer. Its really nice to have lift control seperate, so you can keep your traction control active, and still do wheelies without interference.
If that price is accurate its a no-brainer here between these 2. Id take an older Z1000 though. They might not have the tech that a mentally challenged rider needs, but the Z1000 is a BEAST of a bike! All fun no games.
2020 z900 owner here, honestly I can't imagine the Honda wouldn't feel almost identical to the z on the road. Hope the hornet will be available in the states even though both look amazing imo!!!👌
I had that same bike, green frame and gray tank and black plastics. Had to sell it to finance studies for a career change. When i get my new career going i might get another z900 because i really love that bike!... Or a zh2. I would pick the Kawasaki over the Honda without a doubt.
Everything aside… i think honda is more reliable as a long term bike and much easier to maintain service … and dont forget the parts available and the affordable replacement costs of parts!
European bikes have superior performance and tech ... Following that, we’re also seeing a trend, as Euro bikes tend to be more high-strung compared to their Japanese rivals especially when it comes to big bikes.
Kawasaki has more tech like 6 axis imu, cruise control, electronic suspension etc and Honda makes more power at top, is more agile and Value for Money Look how the tables have turned
Kawasaki and Suzuki have more tech and better paint and material finishes while Honda is more value for money, makes more power at top and more agile Look how tables have turned

Nah it's the same class just like KTM Super duke 1.3
I think the hornet is too powerful to be super fun on the streets. The Z is at the sweet spot of street power. Thanks for this comparison!
That needs a fuel tank !!@@sreejankarn7458
Yamaha MT-09 vs Honda CB1000 Hornet.
Please Compare, I want to see which one is better ?💙💙❤️❤️

As a Z900 owner, if I had to get a new naked bike, it would be cb1000 hornet SP. You just cant beat the value for the money.
Most of the time, when given a similar choice, always go with the Honda !
Keep producing these videos! Quality work as always. Looking forward to the hornet!

Just asking how loud and buffeting is a naked bike such as these when riding between 100km per hour and 130

How about new CB vs the old CB ? That insight of engines being reused is very interesting
I was thinking the same
The hornet in EU is 11.450€ for base model, and for the base z900 is 10.100€
thank you so much for urs informative videos. The only thing missing was a sound comparison!

That 150BHP is difficult to overlook!! Oh just one other thing to note the Kawa is ZED not Zee!!
Zee is so annoying.
thanks for this comparison! actually deciding between these 2 and the gsxs 1000! maybe can you do hornet vs gsxs 1000 next? :D
both are good bikes, i love the honda
you forgot to mention the slipper clutch assist on z900

@-JSLAK thanks missed that
Where do you get this price for new hornet? AUSTRALIA rip off has Z900 at $15000 on road with a quoted $23000 for hornet .
Did a testdrive on the Z900 but it didn't rock my boat. Hope when the hornet comes to stores it will do better to enter my shortlist
waiting for new streetfighter v4
It will be much much more expensive than these two.
If not wrong Honda is less power than Z in daily range. Wait for a dyno curve comparison we will know.
That's implied from the rev range indicated during the video
Honda higher top end, kawa potentially stronger low end
Kwak looks the nicest. I'd have the hornet sp if it came with bidirectional quickshifter.
It does have a Bi-directional.

Agree 100% with your assessment!
Will the US have the CbHornet available in 2025? If yes... I'll look forward to it in 2026 here in México
so basically a little tuned down old gen fireblade haha
love your videos, why didnt you compare the hornet to the z1000? both liter bikes?
Probably because of the price range
Z1000 doesn't exist anymore
Then he couldve done gsxs1k

Honda literally cooked with that one

Z900 #kawasaki
The hornet is cool but no USA release date so it doesn’t matter for us American viewers
the new Hornet gives Kawasaki no chance at all
It does if you want all the tech, cruise control, 6 axis imu, electronic suspension etc
Kawasaki and Suzuki have more tech and better paint and material finishes while
Honda is more value for money, makes more power at top and more agile

Na klar :D
Witch one is kawasaki?
CB1000!!!
Sound.........?
Honda wins!
what a stupid video you should be comparing it to its actual competition the Suzuki GSX S1000
Both shite and boring, best just spending the same money on 2-4 year old bike like. Tuono,s1000r
Much cheaper haay
There all expensive bring cfmoto 1000s-rr v4 engine
