I am a seventy year old dude who has played more guitars than I can remember and has spent a greater part of my life amassing a rather large collection of them also. A few years ago I bought a MIJ 60s Telecaster Custom. I cannot put the dang thing down! To me it is the best guitar that I own and play. Keep it and play it like nothing else. You will be more than glad that you did!
I fell in love with the V shaped neck...reminded me of an Eric Clapton signature strat I had 30 years ago with the lace sensors. It's a great guitar for the money IMO.
The V Shape is on the 50s JV Modified also, and is the most comfortable neck I've ever played. Fender should offer it on more models - if more players got to try that neck shape, I suspect the 'Soft V' may become as popular as the 'Modern C'.
I think you’d be blown away by the quality and feel of the squire J mascis Jazzmasters. The neck feels better than my Eric Johnson strat, better fret ends also.
@@ZachBrobstMusic- Since you're open to Squiers too, the 40th Anniversary series is worth looking into. The Gold Edition Strat from it was a very pleasant surprise to me and turned out to be a keeper.
If this guitar bummed you out because of the epic quality...(Japanese made guitars are some if not the best made guitars on the market, better than Americans) don't touch the J Mascis Squier Jazzmaster. It's legit better than many of the Americans, if not MAYBE even some custom shops I've gotten my hands on. The neck is just sooo good, it's almost like they are trolling us with what they could be doing for under $500 on all models, but aren't just to rub it in.
Yeah just bn vibing out on my new JV 50’s tele, played through my Valve train cranked, my JC120, and shockingly good through my JC40, thats a good solid state amp, and finally through my GT Core and studio monitors and damn it dude. I need to put my strings on it, my fingers hurt, but man if it doesn’t sound fantastic bone stock, right into the front of all of those amps with no pedals, but it also sounded great through my boss core into the interface. I prefer the amps though. Now I need the gold and rosewood. Dont sleep on these. They are great players and will break in well, but wont look like shit because its poly instead of nasty sticky nitro…
Hi Zach, Help me please! I’ve the same guitar and I want to change the stock pickups with 64 pure vintage: should I also change the circuits, pots and everything else? Also the plate and the switch? Thanks in advance if you want to answer me.
Hey there! The stock JV modified pots/circuits are designed for a 4 way switch tele. Technically you don't HAVE to swap it out but you'd be missing out on the fourth position unless you splice the '64 pure vintage pickups and wire it up to have that fourth position!
These are wired like a traditional tele with three positions. I'm pretty confident they don't make a '64 set that can be wired in Series, unfortunately!
I have a skinny V profile neck on my partscaster Tele. Never had one before and it’s very different - wouldn’t say it’s ‘comfortable’ like a C (which is what I’m more used to) but I really like it and can’t put it down - it’s become my go to! If you like a chunky U it might not be your thing though 👍

@@jmeakin4 so true, my 54 JV mod feels like it was made for my hand compared to all the other guitars I own.
The JV products are a great deal! Boutique! Thanks for sharing!
i remember when that Japanse Tele was announced. I was so tempted to get it. It looks so cool.
It's such a unique color!
The 50s JV Modified is a gem, too. One quickly became my #1.
I have a couple of these on my Reverb watch list. Still partial to a 62 Candy Apple Red. Helpful review. 👍🏼

I love those J Mascis JMs! The pickups aren't half bad either!

I got this guitar recently, and I absolutely love it
It's an awesome guitar!
Recently bought a fire fly mad cat be true fully I wasn’t expecting the quality of it and the sound i will put it up to my fender..
Hi Zach, How about a comparison between the Fender Pure Vintage '64 Telecaster Pickups and the Lambertones Blondies.
Hey there! Actually have a video coming out like that soon! I haven't directly A/B'd them yet which I'm hoping to do once my Psalm Series comes in!
Rob is great. Lidgett is my favorite guitar shop too. Got some super killer deals there. Been buying there for over 22 years
Love this tele!

I love the J Mascis squiers. Especially the older version with the rosewood fretboards!

Are the American performers nitro?
@@rainypath96 No, they’re poly
Love nitro, hate poly.
Great guitar/great vox-tele growl
Would you recommend to change a suhr pickup for this guitar?
Absolutely! I love Suhr's tele pickups
so it sounds like ultimately you actually weren't disappointed
*care emoji*
I feel like I've seen this already.
I know what youre talking about lol!

Love that oh god riff.
Hi Zach , did you tried the stock Fender pickups?
Haven't yet unfortunately!
Zach do the 64s wire up the same as the stock. Does it still use a 4 way switch and is the front pos. Still wired in series?
These are wired like a traditional tele with three positions. I'm pretty confident they don't make a '64 set that can be wired in Series, unfortunately!
so, i dont really get it, why you don’t like it? i’m really thinking of getting one of these. I really hope you make that video comparing the pickups
Hey there! I do enjoy the guitar a lot! I'm planning on doing the pickup comparison video soon as I just got my blondies in!
@@ZachBrobstMusic great, i’m waiting that video!!
Let’s do the pickup comparison
Nice video, I'd prefer the background music being quieter while you speak, at the current balance it is distracting.
❤
So you're not disappointed in the gear, you were disappointed in yourself and your decision-making? Kind of confusing as to the point you're making.
Ya - in reflection I think this video felt a little misleading. Zero regrets in the gear!
and you call yourself "smart" Alex.. smh.
If this was nitrocellulose I’d already own it.
It’s the small neck I’d be worried about more than anything.
It worried me initially too. Normally not a small fret/neck guy and especially not a V neck but it's not as bad as I thought it might be

Never played a v shaped neck. The tuners are crap.
