Let me explain why the 'written law' was specified. The written law carries much more severity than the oral law, and it was given by god.
Now here is a general explanation regarding the oral law:
The oral law given with the written law at mount Sinai as is written (for some reason only in the hebrew original and not in the translations).
Those laws apply to all jews, and must be followed same as the written law. So it is not 'tradition'. Traditions are small variations that happen due to ethnicity, Ashkenazi, sepharadic, and Yemenite, that don't and cannot surpass the written and oral law.
Leviticus 26:46
These are the decrees, the laws and the regulations that the Lord established at Mount Sinai(DH) between himself and the Israelites through Moses.(DI)
What the translations do not convey is that in the original text in hebrew appears more than one Torah תורה (the written law) which its plural is Torot תורות / תורת (meaning more than one).
Here's the original text in hebrew:
כו אֵלֶּה הַחֻקִּים וְהַמִּשְׁפָּטִים, וְ *הַתּוֹרֹת* (can you see this ? This is the plural form) אֲשֶׁר נָתַן יְהוָה, בֵּינוֹ וּבֵין בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל--בְּהַר סִינַי, בְּיַד-מֹשֶׁה. {פ}.
Both laws (Torot), both written and oral were given at Sinai. The difference is that the Oral law was forbidden to put to paper at first, and just later on was it permitted.
The oral Torah existed prior to the Talmud and was convayed from one generation to the next!
The law was given to the elders to be interpreted. They were given the spirit of god, through Moses, by god himself. They had authority from god to do so, and with his blessing.
As there were no elders later on, rabbis (or pharisees back then), since the term rabbi was used no earlier than 70 AD, which nulls this term as portrayed in the NT, therefore Jesus couldn't be called Rabbi - had the same authority, for they are learned in all aspects of the Torah.
Judaism sees creation as made by god, but god wants our input as well.
Again these are not 'traditions' these are the Jewish oral laws.

@@astutik8909 , the NT is just oral traditions handed down and written anonymously in Greek and not by eyewitnesses (whose language was Aramaic). There is no reason to believe the NT writings are reliable or trustworthy. The Greek texts clearly don't preserve the words of Jesus or the apostles.

They preached to the Jews, not to other ethnicities ("Go only te the lost sheep of Israel..."Matt. 10:6). Greek was not the language spoken among Jews. Greek was frowned upon because the Greeks had tried to destroy Judaism and to hellenise the jews in recent history. Uneducated fishermen apostles would not have been able to speak it fluently or communicate their ideas in Greek anyway, let alone write it.
You claim the NT is eyewitness accounts. The Greek Gospels do not even claim that eyewitnesses wrote them or reveal what their sources were. They are all written in the 3rd person. if you think they were written by eyewitnesses, THEN PRESENT THE EVIDENCE FOR YOUR CLAIM. The Gospels are anonymous, and the texts do not indicate who wrote them. The term "according to" Matthew, Mark, Luke and John was appended to the Gospels by the early Church in the late 2nd century (and in any cases doesn't mean "by"). There is no reason to believe that the Gospels present eyewitness testimony. They are HEARSAY stories from unknown writers, and we don't have their sources.

@@astutik8909 You obviously don’t listen to Rabbi Singer who says over and over and over and over again that “messiah’ means “anointed” and anyone who becomes a king is anointed and Dovid was a king, as were many others. The Mashiach ushering the Messianic Era is only a special anointed person BECAUSE he’s ushering this era which is transformative, changing the world as we know into the perfection HaShem Always meant His World to be. The Mashiach is not important in and of himself but what his coming will bring.

Even pagan king Cyrus the Great is called "moshiach" and "shepherd" in Isaiah 45:1. Go and look it up!
Jesus was not a messiah. He wasn't anointed, and he fulfilled no messianic prophecy - not even one.
Protestants believe that faith alone can get you into heaven.
Catholics believe that the sacraments are also necessary along with faith.
For Judaism and Islam, it is works alone, they have to earn their salvation and entry into heaven.
Christians don’t have to earn their salvation because God came in the form of Christ to suffer on the cross for their sins and for their salvation.
That was the purpose of God embodying himself in Christ.

I've been to holocaust museum in Washington DC twice. Once in 8th grade and once in 11th. Our school took us. I see the same girls and boys that went on those trips with me spreading antisemitism today. It is truly astonoshing how none of them think they are antisemitic.

What are God's instructions to identify a false prophet? "But any "prophet" who dares speak in My Name a matter in which I have not commanded him to...shall be put to death. *And should you ask yourself "How can we know* whether this prophecy is something 'ה did or didn't speak?"- That which the "prophet" predicts in the name of 'ה, *but that prediction does not come/happen, that is the matter in which 'ה did not speak, the "prophet" spoke it malevolently,* do not fear him" Deuteronomy 18 verses 20-22.

@@biagiomaffettone1497 How were the gospels written? Let's take a look: The book of matthew says that josh came in riding on two donkeys, why? Because the author of matthew did not know how to read basic biblical hebrew, and took Zecharia 9 verse 9's language as if it was referring to two donkeys, when it is referring to only one, and even the other gospels have josh coming in only one donkey and not two, but this is huge a window to understand how the gospels were written, the stories of the gospels were fabricated/invented via searching for verses to build the fable upon, there was no two donkeys, the author of matthew just didn't know how to read basic biblical hebrew, made an error, and painted the story based on his error. Its very simple.
@As Tutik The very fact that the Temple isn't standing proves that the so-called "Jesus" is Not The Messiach. The One True Creator G_d already had told the Children/Nation of Israel that the Temple would be destroyed again and they would go through a period of time with no Temple. The One True Creator G_d gave specific details to the Hebrew prophets about when the Real Messiach comes. No One! Especially the so-called "Jesus " has fulfilled any of them yet.
1. When the Real Messiach comes, he will be a normal man from the line of David through Solomon and will sit on the throne of David and rule from there.

in addition, the context implies a considerable lapse of time (not just SIX DAYS - see Matt. 17:1), i.e. many will have died before it happens, with only "some" surviving to see it.
@@astutik8909 , since "Matthew" was written in the 70s CE (or later), the Gospel writer knew the temple destruction with hindsight. That would make it pretty easy to have Jesus "fulfil" it! Jesus was a false prophet who misread his times, prophesying "some standing here" would still be alive to see "the son of man coming in his kingdom (Matt. 16:28). That was 2,000 years ago! The Gospels only get prophecies right if their fulfilment occurred BEFORE the Gospel was written, i.e. if there was already historical evidence of it.

@@fidelcatsro6948 I'm Catholic and enjoy listening to Rabbis talk about the Torah and the Talmud. But here Rabbi Tovia makes characterizations that are simply not true and I will defend my claim.
1st that Paul believed in a purely spiritual resurrection is wrong. That is what the Church in Corinth thought and he corrected them that it is an actual bodily resurrection. One needs only to actually read the chapter which Rabbi Tovia mentions 1 Corinth 15.
That Paul was an anti semite which would be kind of wierd but not unheard of for a person to despise their ethnicity. Is also untrue. One need only read Romans 11 which is aimed at the gentiles to not get a fat head and think they're better than the Jewish people.
That the Gospels are antisemitic is also highly unusual. Why would a group of antisemites make the claim that God entered creation in the womb of young Jewish woman?
The verse he brings up From John is aimed at particular group of people and not Jewish people generally. In the same Gospel as a matter of fact Jesus says "salvation is from the Jews" (John 4:22).
So if the claim is that some Jews were said to do wrong in the Gospels; therefore the Gospels are antisemitic. Could not the same argument be used for the Torah?

I've found there are several types of Christians; 1. CRITIQUE OF THE RABBI. Question: What is actually more antisemitic according to Rabbi Singer's definition of antisemitism: The Tanakh or the New Testament? The reason I bring this up is that the book of Hosea calls Israel something that would typically be seen as antisemitic, although, of course, it is not at all antisemitism seeing that the God of Israel loves her with the most resilient love in the Universe. I just want us to be honest here. Being very familiar with the Tanakh and New Testaments, I can say that I see a very similar characteristic in both halves of the Bible. I see both divine love for Israel and divine critique of Israel in both halves. I wonder why Rabbi Singer chooses to discuss the New Testament's divine critique of Israel and call it "antisemitism" while completing ignoring all of God's words in the Tanakh. That doesn't seem honest or fair.
