Interesting ill take a look at this engine, the lighting looks amazing, but most probably ill use it for final renders or just the lighting passes and then combine it with render results from pro render.
It is really a great engine but has a lot of stuff that's a bit quirky. I'll be releasing 1 or 2 videos a week so I'll try and get you up to speed as quickly as possible.
Maybe you should also make a tutorial on how the denoiser works. Because it is a bit confusing for most people I think and it is also an essential function.
In addition, regarding those who are working on Mac products, LuxCore 2.3 was working fine in Blender until Mai-July 2020. With MacOs Catalina, some big updates arrived around July and September and the "Metal & Open Cl & graphic drivers codes" changed. Upgrading Blender to the latest version and installing LuxCore Render V2.4 was not enough to solve the problem in 2020. Since this January 2021, Apple reworked a lot based on Pro-Users feedbacks and it appears that actually it solved some issues. I've just tested Blender 2.91.2 and LuxCore 2.4 (both Mac OS 64) It works now but remain less stable than Radeon Pro Render 3.0.8 with Blender here. Definitely, I wouldn't recommend for any 3D lovers, fans, or artists to choose Mac Products fro 3D. The value between the price and the benefits on a daily use isn't worth it if you compare the speed, the reactivity with PC Windows. Actually, I would switch from Apple to Custom Build Machine with two Nvidia RTX 3090 ;))) Keep it up guys with your passion. Thanks.
I have Mac and pc and am platform agnostic. both are custom built for their purposes. I think if someone is going to dish out that much money for either they should already know what each machine is capable of. blender utilizes computer "areas" for different purposes, many wont make a difference. i would never render on my MacBook and I would never attempt a heavy video edit on my PC. in fact I have a separate opteron PC just for Maya because it was coded on one and im superstitious :). in general not knowing the tool for the job is bad all around.
Update: 2.5 BETA 1 appears to actually not resolve all the AMD GPU issues. Apparently the viewport had been set default to CPU with a different setting. I will be testing out some items to ensure amd users can use these newer builds.
@@hugoantunesartwithblender yes- you can render assets as layers then composite together. I would recommend using Natron. I will be working on some Natron basics videos in the future.
This should be default stock in Blender. Screw damn Cycles. Devs are too busy with stupid grease pencils and geonodes instead of proper rendering quality. Unbelievable. Thank you so much for your tutorials, I really need this for work as I render a lot of alcohol/drinks/bottles in Blender and this is a game changer.
Aha. Yes. Fun plugin. Looks cool. I am struggeling with noise though. I have lots of spots in the renderings. maybe i need more samples. hard to guess. but the denoising in the viewport looks way better than the denoising in the render. very weird.
@@djtutorialscgi yay! that sounds like the solution yes. ....just not sure how to do that yet.... i watched your tutorial about glass, dispersion, caustics.... but you didn't cover it in there.... i will look further....
Using Blender's Eevee or Cycles I can import a vertex painted model and render it by adding a Node for Vertex Colour (or similar name). Would this be an issue using LuxCore? I'm assuming I can still use Nodes and then render using the Lux? No worries if you don't immediately know the answer to that. I guess I'll find out eventually.
There is an option to use Cycles nodes or LuxCore. Whether it’s supported or not is another matter. If you import your scene then check the box for Cycles nodes in the shader menu, you can see if it works. Not all nodes are supported though even through that method.
Also- I don’t use vertex color often as I tend to bake out the materials when using other engines but LuxCore might have its own vertex color node. Check the manual on the LuxCore website.
@@djtutorialscgi Got LuxCore installed and I can confirm that imported models with painted vertices do indeed render fine with the addition of a Vertex Color Node.
do I need to find an older version somewhere? I'm on 2.91 using v2.6, which says it supports 2.82 to 2.93LTS, but when trying to enable it there's an error message saying I need 2.93 or higher edit: just tried v2.4 and v2.5, but neither appeared in the addon list at all

I already had my scene created in Cycles with lights and all. And then I installed and used LuxCore and still get the light blue on the entire scene. I'm using Blender v2.92.0 How do I fix that ? Im using OpenGL on a GTX Nvidia 1070-Ti because for some odd reason CUDA doesnt want to work properly. And yes I did activate Devices button :) So i left it on OpenGL and using the GPU and it works pretty fast, Just wish my scene I created would come to life, instead of the all light blue......lol The lighting I used in the scene when using Cycles are in the Nodes using IES files and Nodes specifically for Lumens and Kelvin. Im controlling everything via Nodes on the light-bulb.

the idea looks great but unfortunately it is too buggy with my created scenes on cycles with an RTX graphics cards, some textures won't load correctly, other will render completely different than they do in cycles, and I mean like diamonds look red as if they were ruby jewels, character skin rendering wrong in only some of the parts, HDRi way darker than it was in cycles... I hope it gets better in the future but for now it is unfirtunately no valid alternative for me :(
I understand the issues- it uses more real world and professional colorspace with images which is why you are seeing the some of those problems with it being darker. As a professional, you’ll need to learn more engines like this to keep up so I would recommend learning it just for the experience. Jump in the discord and chat with other artists- each engine has its positives and negatives. Cycles will get you used to shortcuts and cheats which don’t work in the “real world”. It’s a fantastic engine but to be a true professional, knowing others like Octane, LuxCore and ProRender will help you!!!
@@djtutorialscgi thanks a lot for the quick answer, I really want to use a better rendering engine than cycles, at least for some of my projects.
