- I’ve made a bunch of videos here on the channel that contain iPhone tips, and while I think they’re all really good, they’re usually just a random collection of things that I’ve discovered. What I’ve not done up until now, is just share a bunch of tips that I genuinely use, all the time, with my iPhone - because that’s the whole point right, tips need to be genuinely useful, not just random.
So, here’s 8 genuinely useful iPhone tips that I swear by, and that I actually use often, some of them I use every day. Stick with me until the end of the video, I really think there are some gems in here.

Another interesting and useful video, thank you so much, I am 80 years old and have no problem following your very clear instructions, thank you.
3 control center items that I use all of the time:
* Text Size: Change the text size for a specific app
* Hearing: Turn on background sounds like dark noise
* Magnifier: User your camera as a magnifying glass
Other tips I use that I don't see talked about very often:
* Tell Siri to "remind me about this" when viewing a note, message, email, or website. It creates a reminder and automatically creates a link to that thing you were viewing.
* On a screenshot, tap the (+) and use things like Opacity and Magnifier to make the screenshot awesome.
* Create a PDF from a website. Tap Share, then Options and select PDF, then save to Files.
* Mark a message as read without opening the app. Press-and-hold on the notification as if you are going to reply. And then tap outside of the window. It will dismiss the notification and mark your message as read.
Great tips Dustin, thanks. I’m always using Screenshots, but where and at what point to I select the + Symbol? - I don’t see it - Thanks
@@WatchDSSID When you first create a screenshot, you should see the (+) in the lower right corner.
@@dustinwiens1296 - Thanks Dustin (I appreciate your quick response) when I do a Screenshot, either on my iPhone or iPad, I don’t see the + Symbol anywhere. Are you on iPhone?…..I’m up to date with latest version :- (
@@WatchDSSID I'm on iPhone. I think you have to turn on the Markup toolbar to see it. At the top of a screenshot, hit the pen icon.
@@WatchDSSID After you tap the mini screenshot to make it full screen, tap the pen icon to get editing options - this is when you'll see the + at the bottom of the screen.
Another good tip is long press everything. Some things have genuinely useful features that aren’t obvious at all, for example try long pressing on the icons in control center.
ur amazing. This senior chick is going to make you my brain exercise everyday. So much to learn. slow and steady. I might need to rewind a bunch but fun ahead. thanks.
I am so in love with Apple ecosystem; I am sold. This coming from long windows & android user
Still being relatively new to IOS, this channel has helped me out in so many ways. Thank you!
2:57 This is such a helpful tip - thank you! I didn’t realize I could convert the raw files so easily. I discovered I can convert a selection of images all at once - in the folder (in files) of raw files, tap the elipse at the top right of the screen and choose select, then tap the elipse at the bottom right of the screen to chose convert. This will convert all the selected photos!
Keyboard replacements: I use this a lot to record URLs that I use regularly. And text can be pretty long of you want to repeatedly use a paragraph of text.
Thanks for the tip on compressing photos. I’ve had issues with that before and always resorting to going to my MBP to send the email, now I don’t have to! Thanks!
You are absolutely the best in this field on UA-cam! Thank you for your professionalism!
Thank you! Regarding the alarm/timer, I use it so much while cooking that I have it on my lock screen; don't even have to open the phone. Anxious to try some of those Files tricks.
Thank you! I didn't know about the focus modes and I'll try that right away.
Another nice tip when typing. If you long press and hold anywhere you type, you have a magnifying glass that pops up and it allows you to precisely move your cursor to wherever you need.
I find it much easier to just select the photos you want and then press the share button and select where you want to share them like in the text app. Just as easy and you dont have to go through all this dragging using 2 fingers. Using share is easier to use for most people and just as fast.
Agree completely. I find this strange two-handed dragging and dropping cumbersome and time-consuming. Share sheet is much quicker.
Really helpful tips, I shall make use of them. Especially the folder tip. I never used it until now, GREAT !!!
Thanks, one tip for Files. We can scan docs strait from a folder. I use it for receipts.
Just joined the channel today. First time I ever spent money on UA-cam. Totally worth it for this type of content.
One tip that found amazing was to select the text. If you are holding down on Spacebar to position your cursor, tap anywhere on the keyboard with your other finger and move the finger which acted as the cursor. It will start selecting your text.
Thanks for the tips - very well presented!
I use the auto smaller versions of photos on my phone. I e tried the trick with the files app to see if I needed to bother shrinking them. I think I do as the pic itself is 1.3mb, when turned to jpeg it’s 275kb. So would still need to compress.
Thank you. That was a very informative chat. Very useful for the older members of society.
You are amazing. I understand what you say all the time I am from Cairo.
A few are immediately relevant - thank you!
I tried batch converting the images and it worked for me.
Good to know - maybe it was because I was trying to do it with large RAW files (as opposed to JPEGs to PNGs for example)
Love your tips for practical usage in the home retired so do not use business type info, but as I have been low vision all my life, I use Apple devices because of the zoom feature. But do you have any knowledge of how to make the letters not the keyboard itself, but the letters on the keyboard, bigger and maybe bolder. I find Wayback in the five or six upgrades for the phone that, they started making letters thinner and paler in color very difficult for those of us that need more contrast. And yes, I have tried the dark mode on my devices don’t like it :-) any info on making the keyboard letters larger would be hugely appreciated.
I’m liking Focus, but despite asking my Home focus to turn on automatically based on location, it doesn’t seem to change it.
You have actually the best tips and tricks in the WHOLE IOS GAME ❤🎉⚡️⚡️🏁❤️🤙
This is great, thank you. Compressing the photos on the files app is a great tip
Not related to this video…but can we use the zwj (zero width joiner) on the iPhone or iPad keyboard?
Excellent tips. Many thanks!
This channel truly lives up to its name 🧐
Be careful when using the Level function because the side buttons can distort the answer or turn the device off when trying to read it. Especially exaggerated when a case is used
Wow! Just when I thought I was tech savvy, I discovered your videos. Brilliant!
Any tip for how to ad back button on iphone😊
This was extremely helpful. Thank you.
is the first trick that you mentioned does it also works on the iPad ?
So very glad that I have subbed AND HAD ALL NOTIFICATIONS ON
Continuing to learn something new every time I watch one of your videos. Thanks.
Hello Proper, love your show I’ve been watching you for a long time, but I don’t subscribe to anything more because you are so full of information at this level that going further would just leave me without time to do anything else! Hope you take this as a compliment. My point in sending you this message is that at the very end you mentioned that you can select Shazam from the control center “if you don’t want to use Siri“ Well the truth is that when you ask Siri what song is playing it uses Shazam. Whenever I want to figure out what song is playing I just hold my digital crown on my watch and say Shazam and it just does the job. Thanks for listening or reading.
Excellent tips!
Awesome , quite handy tips ❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing those useful tips!
Thanks!
Thanks for another useful video.
Thank you for the tips - they have been very useful. Does anyone know why my iphone 11 randomly inserts the capital letters CNN into text messages? I have googled this issue and it does appear to be a common niggle but no answers. The letters are not in the text replacement on my phone. Any help would be appreciated.
Oh that happens to me too! A lot of times it will be CD- and I have no idea except that it happens when I’m trying to type fast. I have no idea what sets it off in there. Doing the sliding type method has helped with it but I’m inconsistent using it. Wow that’s so funny.
It’s some weirdness with auto-correct; I get CNN and BBC routinely when my finger strays up from Bob the space bar and accidentally hits letters like C and B plus some other letters and auto-correct tries to resolve the typo into something meaningful.
@@denvan3143 I don’t know if it helps any or not but I live in the USA and CNN is a news station here, and BBC is a tv station. But it may mean absolutely nothing 😊
Most useful tip…. Move that little switch on the side to the red position. Your day will be far more peaceful without annoying people bothering you.
Right, because the main purpose of having a phone is to avoid communication.
@@cogx930113 Implying that a device has to fulfill its purpose 100% of the time? While communication is important it's usually not time critical and the best way to get something done is to block distractions.
@@cogx930113well many users choose when and with who to communicate and I rarely talk on my phone nowadays. Talking on the phone I usually do at work through the Microsoft Teams app on my computer. So yes. My phone is almost always set to silent mode
Great tips. !!👍
Wish I could share a quick note!!!!
A question here. If you use the function to share your WiFi password, can the person you shared with then reveal the password on their device like I can on mine? If so I’ll stick to a guest network for visitors.
Wow these tips are genuinely helpful as opposed to other videos I've watched that are fun tips but ones I will never use.
Is there also a tip that let you move photos from the camera roll or library to an album or folder?
Very informative, thanks
Thanks
Thank you very much!
Any ideas why the option to customize my home screens based on focus modes is entirely missing? I’ve been trying to figure this out for a couple months. Phone is fully updated. (iPhone 13, iOS 16.3.1)
Please give some context. What steps are you taking to set this up? What have you tried so far? It may be that you'll get a better solution by posting in the apple communities as there you can post screenshots and so on...
@@221b-Maker-Street thank you! I will try there. I’m following his steps all the way until the option of creating a new home page. No option there 🤷🏻♀️ But I’ll check on Apple.
Always learning something new from this channel. SUBED!
Great video!
I’ve always and still do strongly dislike the FILES app on my iPhone. It’s a mess. My Android counterparts are well organised.
For wifi i followed the steps that maybe you already showed in another article which leads to a printable QR code which ive printed and stuck on my fridge.
I would like to know that trick!
@@cayseas Cant do links here but google something like ios print wifi qr code
Even it can be done with shortcuts ?
You mention "Files Application.. Search brought up a files application. When I could not figure out how to see the files. It only showed me one image. In my folder should have hundreds of photos.

iPhone 13 ProMax
iOS 16.5.1
You are so cool and knowledgeable . Wow I wish I could remember all the infor you do 😊
Wow !!!
Hey man, I REALLY enjoy what u have created, keep those videos com8ng please…thanks
Wow a lot of great info!
XLnt.
New abbreviation, cool.
You can just share directly now
Useful . . . not random. Perfect.
Disagree on the “Siri lags behind” statement. It KNOWS a lot more than Alexa. I often ask Siri when Alexa is clueless on a query.
It’s common knowledge that Google is better than Siri and Siri is better than Alexa. There are literally thousands of videos on UA-cam where they compare all three at the same time to see how much lag there is… And who gets it right.
I don't know how you ever can do that while driving, sipping coffee, chatting on a call and swatting the kids in the back seat.
My personal favourite usage: Double-backtap for Spotlight & Triple-backtap for Control Centre.
I use the Text replacement for Kaomojis (ex: Shruggie » ¯\_(ツ)_/¯), Symbols (ex: -> » →), and… Synonyms.
I tried a lot of different things with back tap, and finally settled on a double tap for the App Switcher. It changed the way I use my iPhone; it’s a part of muscle memory now, and I don’t even think when I switch between UA-cam, notabilities, photo, etc.
For the WIFI password sharing to work, the person with the other iphone must have you and your iphone number stored in their contacts.
Did anyone else run around the house and measure things with their iPhone? LOL
Asking Siri “What song is this”? will show the song in a banner, but it doesn’t automatically add the song to Shazam - and therefore not to your Shazam folder in Apple Music. For me, completely useless.
Please reduce the speed of your speech thanks
I speak at a pace which works well for the majority of people who watch the videos, not too fast, not too slow. If you need to slow down the videos, you can use the UA-cam player controls.
Thanks!
Thank you very much!
