- Anne Decatur Danielewski is a singer/songwriter best known as Poe. She released two albums. "Hello" is her first one, released in October 10, 1995, the main single was "Angry Johnny", a song that became a very big hit in the nineties.
To promote the CD she stop at television studios for a live performance of "Angry Johnny".
Crazy that I've been listening to this for almost thirty years. It holds up.
Her timing is so unique. So chill but precise. Kills me everytime.
So sad i discovered her so long after she stopped making music. Got into her for her album Haunted, cause House of Leaves is my FAVORITE BOOK EVERRR but I really love Hello too! I wish she had more albums for me to love :(
Her new song for Alan Wake II was so good, it got my hopes up for another album
The lyrics are so creative. You’ve gotta be in a certain state of mind to craft a song like this. Lightning in a bottle moment I imagine.

@@erika6651 Yes, Haunted, which was largely a soundtrack to her brother's book, was released and it was absolutely stunning.
A lot of artists in the 90s got swallowed up by the record company crashes. A damn shame. Dreams shattered.
She recorded under the psudoenym Jane with Conjure One on the tracks One Word, Endless Dream, Center of the Sun, Make a Wish, and Extraordinary Way. You can also search for her cover of Our Lips Are Sealed by the Go Go's. Not much, but at least a few additional recordings of this amazing voice.
She was special. Truly one of a kind like Alanis, shirley, nina, sarah, and sheryl were.
I fell in love with her beauty attitude and voice from the 1st moment I heard her and laid eyes on her when I was 16 in 1996. I still listen to and cherish both of her albums to this day and she has one of my favorite voices of all time. I hope she makes music again one day

Saw her and Cameron only, open for Violent Femmes in like 97 or 98 at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix Az.
Strong female. Highly intelligent with her heart dedicated to art and expression. Being such a small intimate venue, that night we were family. And she was incredible. One of my few best moments(cuz there weren’t many)of the 90s.

Bummer that they cut away from her to the guitarist when she tossed the mic stand. I don't think I've ever seen a cellist get that into the flow. Also the bass is so crunchy, it's a beautiful thing. Awesome.
Saw her front row on the main stage at a festival in 96 early in the day and she stole the show until the headliners came on 12 hours later….the cellist was literally riding his instrument the entire show….A pretty amazing 45 minutes!

One of her songs (Control) was in a ps1 game featuring Bruce Willis, called 'Apocalypse' with a slightly more grungey/nu metal tone to the guitars. Good song (and a good game)

And ... I heard this for the first song ... today! My wife and I were cruising around, listening to the radio. I looked over and said "Kind of a 90's vibe, huh?" Turns out there was a reason for that. So bummed, I thought a cool new band had come along. (Where was I in the 90s ...? Busy.)

I saw her when she opened for Seven Mary Three a while back. She gave a show and had a lot of passion when she performed. Very beautiful woman also. Hope she is doing well as I haven’t heard anything from her in a long time.

It's crazy that come to find out most of her albums/songs are about/inspired by her bio. Brothers Mark z, Daniellzkie (pen name) Book..marked one of the most disturbingly fantastical books ever written called House of Leaves which swept me to the brink of insanity as a teen BUt the main character is Angry Johnny..and that's all I'm gonna say..good luck

Destroys the album version. And it is stupid hot when she joins in on the cymbal bashing at the end.
Sounds so much better live. The music is so far back in the mix on the record. She’s friggin gorgeous. Bass player needs to settle the fuck down. Small stage bro.
