I work a semi blue collar job 5 days a week. Putting on a nice outfit just to go to the store is exciting to me. Looking and feeling good about your hard work, commitment to success and your family is reward enough. Looking tour best is a bonus. Great video John as always. I'm looking forward to the weekend and breaking in one new styles from your videos.
Good point. I wish I understood all this when I was in my 20's. I am trying to get my son to watch this . He is 27 but needs to hear this msg from someone besides me. Good Content. Been subscribed for a few years now. Thank you, John.
Thanks for the video. I totally agree. It does not take much to improve yourself. When it comes to polos though… I personally have a problem with polos. I don´t like them. I prefer a nice shirt with the sleeves nicely rolled up to the elbows or slightly below the elbow. Am I totally wrong with this? I´m male turning 50 in three months.
I think it depends where you live. I have never liked polos either (not many people wear them in Australia or the UK) , but dress sharply usually in suits and shirts. I am 45 and still wear t shirts which feels fine in Australia 👍🏻
Totally 100% agree about swapping the t-shirt for a polo. Literally every guy in the summer time wears a t-shirt, and it's really not a good look, especially if you're a bit older and carrying some belly fat, which a lot of men do (t-shirts should be avoided unless you've rocking a six-pack). If you opt for polos over t-shirts, you'll look better and stand out favorably from other men. The collar adds a more polished, classy look.
If you want to go down the middle, a linen/cotton blend short sleeve henley that fits properly will present a T shirt casualness with an open button collar shirt “sophistication” for lack of a better term. They work well everywhere you might go in jeans or shorts.
Get jacked and tan, and then you can wear a burlap sack. That'll let you know where getting in shape ranks in the grand scheme of 'style' modifications. You can buy clothes, jewelry, cars, and other tangible items in the attempt to look better, but there is only ONE way (well, maybe Tren) to get a body that 99% of men do not have - and that's hard work, discipline, and consistency. Drop that 40lbs in your gut, get lean, get muscular... you'll be shocked how this translates to every other part of your life. Feel free to comment if you agree / disagree. I'll be interested in the comments.
Agree with 'muscular and tan' if you like exercising and being fit. Or warm weather. For others, and if cold-ish weather, clothes and grooming will be the 90% of your presentation. Body shape the remaining AND HARDEST 10%.
@@alexmarques2398being the hardest is what makes it the most valuable. You can buy clothes and a car, but you can’t buy a physique; that takes hard work and consistency. And it’s more valuable as a result.
@@RScottBell Not sure.. money is valuable if you can make loads of it. Not as much if you just got Jackpot. 'Making' money is a skill more appreciated by society. And harder to me than the physique. Sure thing, do the physique for your own benefit, if nothing else.
Thank you so much for this video as I seem to have loss the way of presenting my appearance since I turned 60! I have just turned 63 and I would love to feel better about myself and self esteem. Unfortunately, I have no hair as I lost it like 8 years ago as I have Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma but despite that all my friends seem to think that I'm younger as they quote me for a 58 years old! I just want to get my esteem back as feel better of myself without becoming someone else ... Thank you once again as you have made my day!
I love your channel. You are addressing a nation wide - if not a world wide audience. Style may be a super power in California, Miami or New York, but comes lower on the list in the rest of the USA. CONFIDENCE rules all. You know swagger - the undeniable charisma that transform even the most homely looking guy into a babe magnet! Of course superficial women won't give this guy a second look. Those women who give a confident charismatic homely looking guy a chance are the women who find real men. Men they want to marry. Woman will ALWAYS test your confidence to see if men are posers or are the real thing. Fitness comes in a close second. With that, personal hygiene is imperative! Bathe EVERYDAY! Oral hygiene, grooming - nice haircut, shave and dress like you did everything on purpose. That unshaven look is out these days and you either look like you're lazy or homeless. I have seen homely looking guys with nice women and when I have looked closer, it's because their confidence and charisma got them noticed by good women. Gold diggers need not apply!
Your style choices seem strongly connected to your location in southern California. How about a cross over video with Gentlemen's Gazette or Antonio Centeno to discuss styles by seasons in different areas of the country?
Great shirts in your videos. Where do you get them? And if I can't quite afford what you're getting, what are the lower cost options. Mostly interested in long sleeve button downs
Hey John...i have 40 years restaurant experience.... before becoming a consultant.... Cooper hawk restaurants would be awesome place to put your wines... they have two locations in Kansas City Missouri.... Great food and service..
Another facial feature that doesn't get a lot of attention is your teeth. Crooked, yellow or missing teeth will be noticed immediately. Visit a dentist at least twice a year and get your teeth cleaned and fixed. If affordability is a problem, ask your dentist about care credit or other medical financing options. Take care of your teeth at home every day by brushing and flossing. I switched to an electric tooth brush a couple years ago and love it. They can be purchased for less than $10 at places like wally world and floss is cheap too. If you don't take care of your teeth, the clothes you're wearing won't matter.
Oh I was a dweeb in my youth! lol. Crooked teeth, hated my straight hair. But now at 50 years of age I’m confident, bold, my wife of 24 years takes my arm when we’re out in public.
Looking around at what other guys are wearing i find the biggest, by far, problem is guys are not wearing pants , no matter the type, that fit properly. They are baggy in the butt , bunching up at the ankle and do not fit correctly at the waist. Fit is everything! One can wear a tshirt and jeans and if they fit correctly they look much better
My only issue ( my issue ) is confidence… I’m 50 years old never married , no children, never had a girlfriend if I’m being honest… I have anxiety especially if I’m dressed nice because it brings a lot of unwanted looks from people , so just saying be confident isn’t enough when you have a mental health issue like I do .
With complete respect-are you the best version of yourself? Are you physically fit? Is your work fulfilling and valuable? You can’t just “be confident”, and that’s not what John has ever said. Confidence is a side effect of doing the work to make you the best version of yourself.
Hey brother don’t despair and don’t go at it alone. Think of opportunities to surround yourself with other men that portray the image that you want to present . This may be through business groups, the gym, church or hobby groups. Everybody can use a good reliable wing-man. These guys will support you and elevate your game !
It sounds like you're in a tough spot, but know that you are worth it, even without a partner or kids. Focus on your self-improvement journey, and remember that confidence is a process.
Follow Antonio’s rule: start dressing better either scripted components. They become your “uniform”. Keep wearing them until you look odd to yourself in not wearing them. That includes hats. Wear it around the house.
Hey John, can I consider myself attractive even though I'm stuck wearing glasses for most of the day. Can guys still be considered attractive by women even if they have to wear glasses?
@@drmarctagon thanks man, yea sometimes, in all honesty I do feel more confident and attractive without them on, but contacts are not an option for me because of my high prescription and I don’t want to risk going down the laser eye surgery path, but it seems like from what your saying is I should just learn to embrace them because a lot of men own that look and still look good
An advise, the videos do not have to match the sponsor's product, you can make a video on any style/fashion topic because the content of the videos becomes very repetitive.
80 percent of men I see dress like homeless or poorly, also lack of proper grooming.I think there is still a misconceived belief to a lot of men that taking care of your appearance makes you superficial or less masculine
Collars a Co have way too many useless colors . The color is firm but not natural . The new stuff is useless . How about mainstream plies and enough of the blue short sleeve variations .
I think fitness is the key. If you are in shape confidence and good grooming will follow.
So true, the best investment is in your own physique. Having a good physique will make most clothing look a world of difference.
Important lesson--be the best You you can be. Physically, intellectually, socially, emotionally. Well said, John.
Thank you!
Guys - Never, ever consider yourselves "Not worth it"
You are worth it, and are improving every single day !
John - you're a Legend !
Thank you!!

John, a few things come to mind. Just getting a great haircut, and better grooming, some of the obvious stuff, can kick-start the change
Totally agree!

Part 2 would be good.

Hoping to launch mid December. Fingers crossed. There has been a few speed bumps.

Ha! Sleep deprived :)
Good video. Focus on your diet too. Not easy!
You are right, it is a challenge but worth it!

Polo's on men at work makes them look like slobs. It's a tshirt with a collar.
