Great video! Was surprised to see this was only your 2nd video. It's of the same quality as the videos I watch with millions of subs. Looking forward to where you go with your channel. I got an Ally a couple of months ago. My wife recently brought home a german shepherd puppy, which somehow became my responsibility. I got the Ally so I could play video games while hanging out with the puppy as there was no way he was going in my office with my gaming PC. The Ally has blown me away with what it can do. My first gaming rig was Commodore 64 back in the early 80s. I never could have imagined we would one day have something as amazing as this handheld. I'm reallyy glad I purchased it. Would recommend it to to other PC gamers. Way too technical a device for someone looking for a console gaming experience. I did swap out the ssd for a 2tb. Was a lot easier than I expected.
Hey there! I'm ecstatic to hear you consider the video up to that standard. Thank you! :) Congrats on the new puppy! May you make tons of memories together
I don't have an Ally (although I might buy one after this review), but I just want to say I totally agree with that guy. The production of this video is super high quality, and if you keep putting these out you will certainly gain a following. Best of luck with your channel! @@JosephStillGames
@@lilrockstar77Not sure if you can, but some docks for the ROG Ally allow you to use it at full TDP like the charger does, with a dock I believe you may be able to use a eGPU, not sure though
Have been using the Ally daily from day 1. Non stop. With my XG Mobile, I don’t touch me PS5 or Steam Deck anymore. And I sold my desktop. I’m VERY happy.

I feel the same way. I have a RTX2080 desktop PC and I think about selling it as well. This thing is amazing. Can play any game, some of them at 120fps.
As someone who just got the Ally 3 days ago and has been using a Steam Deck running Windows for a year and half at this point, the Ally was a godsend. Plus having the whole Elder Scrolls and Fallout series on GOG is a roadtrip dream.
For me the steam deck has been almost 2 years of constant headaches because of crashing games, incompatibility , missing libraries , stuttering and overall just a buggy experience. So far the ally has been everything but that and im glad i upgraded
Same. Currently cant play any games on my 512gb LCD. I am getting a black screen followed by "Verifying Installation" after loading games. It's truly frustrating because I've looked everywhere for a solution and there is none. Steam Support will say to re-image it and that doesn't work. Going to sell my steam deck and pick up the Ally.
@@MunteanuAdrianXDdid you end up getting the legion go? I exchanged mine for the ally. The go was just too big for me. I feel the ally is the perfect size and it is so easy to update the system/drivers
Thanks man your video was honest and told me all the shortcomings of the Ally, and even through that, I picked one up, and I've been hooked even got an Anker 747 charger which gives me the elongated playing time so thanks for the tips as well
Had mine now for 3 months as well and I agree with you. I currently have a 1TB SD Card in it and so far no problems but I don't play really long sessions so while it's gotten warm it's not got hot. I think this is why I've had no problems so far. I have an Xbox SX as well and Game pass is great to have on it. I upgraded the SSD to 2TB and I think it was wise, I've used a full TB so far and it's all been good. I'll keep watching and paying attention so I don't hopefully have any problems. Great video!
I have 1tb nvme and 1tb micro sd card had no reason to upgrade and i also have gaming pc and consoles so i dont use it for big games. Rog ally is good for on the go games
@@sgt_butter7127I just bought a 2tb SSD and a 90 degree adapter to run faster storage for my ally Plenty of UA-cam videos give step by step instructions that could be completed in 10 minutes You can back up your device externally or the ally has built in cloud restore over wifi
What a great video actually the one that helped me make a decision on this console. I also had the gameboy color, advance, 3ds and Vita! The Vita when it came out blew my mind on what a portable can do with uncharted and gravity rush. I did keep mine and actually have one spare (the slim model). Subbed to your channel to see more videos :)
Nice video, I am looking forward to getting the Lenovo Legion Go. It has a trackpad, detachable controllers like the Switch and an SD Card reader I can actually use. The only downside is that it doesn't have VRR like the ROG Ally. I love the growing handheld PC gaming scene. I remember back in the early 2010s when Razer revealed their concept PC handheld the Razer Switchblade and then later released a PC gaming Tablet called the Razer Edge. Unfortunately it was too expensive and weak for the price. I love that PC handhelds are becoming viable and affordable options now. Especially now in a time when most games come to PC now. The fact I can play God Of War, Ratchet & Clank, Gears Of War, Halo and more on the same device natively portable makes me feel like a kid again when I got the Gameboy Advance and the Nintendo DS but even more excited because I can take the home console games on the go with me now instead of being limited to only games made only for Nintendo handhelds. PC handhelds are like the new PSP of portable gaming.
Thanks, I'm super excited about the handheld scene too! Like you said, during the Gameboy and DS generations I was happy with my "to-go" games like Pokemon. Now though, the line is really blurring because of these new handhelds and breakthroughs in game development. I'd love to see what comes next, and am definitely going to at least check out the Legion Go :)
@@JosephStillGames Before with games that had handheld versions. They were basically a different game but shared the same name/IP. I remember getting Ultimate Spider-Man for the PS2 and DS and I was disappointed that Ultimate Spider-Man on the DS was a side scroller and not an open world 3D game like on the home consoles. But now PC handhelds and the Switch to some extent can play games exactly how they were designed on home consoles and PCs but with the graphics just lowered. The Switch's hardware is too weak now but with PC handhelds you can always upgrade to a new one that comes out a year or two later if the current one isn't playing games at the settings you want. Another great thing about PC handhelds is you don't have to worry about losing access to your game library every time you get a new one because they're still PCs and take advantage of the vast backwards compatibility capabilities they have. I love that PC handhelds have made it that literally countless numbers of games that never had handheld releases or ones comparable to PC and home consoles can now be played portable rivaling them or better.
@@podkse Only issue i have with the Legion GO Right now is there is no current reviews for the product & will it have an affordable eGPU. The ally Had ton of reviews months before its release. The legion Go has only one and its the Demo version and not retail units. Still waiting on the eGPU support.
Im a windows for a better or for worse kinda guy. Had a steam deck for ages and i just prefer windows warts and all and I travel a lot and im never really away from a plug socket so for me being able to use 30w compared to steam deck is so much more worth it. Been playing Cyberpunk 2077 at 45 to 60 fps and its surreal.
Great video. Love the angle you come at this with in a more subjective, emotional way -- there's plenty of tech spec info out there. This definitely informed my decision.
Dude what a great video. I am considering myself a tech nerd so I like to what these vids where they go into the details, talk about the specs etc. But I felt really comfortable with the way you’re talking about this thing, explaining use cases and how you are using it in your daily routine. I ordered one yesterday for 650€ and now after watching YOUR video, I’m even more excited about getting the thing. Thanks! 🙏
The hefty price tag has left me on the fence of whether I should return it or not… your points are spot on, and the main reasons I also haven’t had the want to return it.
Thank you! If you’re still within the return period, I would consider it if the Lenovo Legion Go is on your radar. I didn’t touch on it in the video, but that’s coming out at the end of the month. The only downside to me so far is that it looks MASSIVE for a handheld…but it’s a similar price so keep an eye out for reviews of that
Compared to what’s on the market, I don’t see anything being better or more better than the ally. Even the legion go is running off of the same chip, steam deck is much weaker, and the indigogo handhelds are shaky territory if you happen to have a bad experience. Ally for what it is. It’s pretty amazing, and if you do a ssd swap for more storage and really invest in the games you want for the console, it becomes a great secondary or even primary gaming device.
@@fresco_dinero5155 I agree with what you’re saying 100%. I also understand the steam deck is weaker, but it’s very much a “pick up and go” device. The taint that is windows really ruins the simplicity of what the Ally should be imo. I want to pick it up and play. Not update, tinker and benchmark.
Thanks for the review! i ordered the ally 2 days ago but i haven't opened it yet 😅 your video made me more excited, so i guess i'll unbox it tonight. i'm looking forward to your upcoming videos and i'm pretty sure your channel will grow very fast, keep your style and good luck! 🤓👍🏽
@@s.r.hadden525 i'm loving it so far been playing apex legends and persona 5 royal. i bought a gaming mouse and keyboard too 😅 now i'm saving up for the external graphic dock from asus (geforce rtx 4090) it'll take me 3 months, shit is expensive 😕
Let me just say this, I'm the type of guy that sells his gaming stuff when he doesn't use it. I have had the ROG Ally since launch, and I have yet to put it down. It honestly changed pc gaming for me in a big way. With all these handhelds coming out, I'm grateful that this is the one I got. I thought it would be a console for when I'm at work but I play it mostly in bed so I have zero issue with performance.
@@tone19xxi believe one of armory crates updates adjusted the fan curve so the sd card shouldnt be an issue anymore. plus you can manually adjust the fan curve yourself for when youre running at 30 watts.
Not sure if you ever took the time to turn you’re default OC power settings from “Aggressive” to “disabled” but it’s greatly increased battery life & apparently can help prevent SD reader burning. Very very minimal performance loss if any. 110% worth it.
If it wasn't for the Micro sd issue I would be a 10/10. I would give it a solid 7/10, battery life could be better playing heavier games, 512GB is not enough, Micro SD would solve me problem but since it stopped working it never worked again, using as external ssd to play some other games, and price is arguably high, but I'm happy with it, don't regret getting it, runs everything better than expected
This is a best thing ever made. Been playing on it ever since release. Mobile mode only high setting over 60 fps on most new games. Crystal sharp pictures. Feels bad for my steam deck
I hear what you're saying. I grabbed a steam deck and I think we're gonna need a new APU on the market before something will be compelling enough to move on. Ally downsides are too much to justify the spec/screen bump. For me at least.
Thanks for watching! A common critique of all handhelds is that we haven't let other technologies (ex: batteries) develop in the way that truly makes up for the max performance of these chip sets. Thankfully the Steam Deck was able to get the ball rolling, and I suspect Steam Deck 2 may be even better
I was skeptical too.. it's really a huge bump... if your run 720 with rsr upscaling on you basically get 1080p with high settings on most games...was playing cyberpunk on 90 percent max setti getting 40 to 55 fps.. and that's before the new patch that just released
Thank for another video with more clarification. Was about to buy Ally this November but now I will remove my steam deck sale ad. Sd card slot not working is a super big issue and I don't have the patience to send it back for repair after spending 8900 sek here in Sweden.
Nice review, I’m loving my Ally as well. Got the steam deck but sold it after getting this one. Great device for real and incredible performances on such a small portable powerhouse. Also good as notebook replacement.im playing on my desktop really rarely or just streaming on my ally from time to time. I’m considering the steam deck Oled as well but I’m not sure it’s worth it when I already have an Ally.
Having had a steam Deck OLED and sold it, the Ally is night and day better. I actually think the Ally screen is better. The VRR is the big difference maker. Things just don’t run as well on SD
PS3, PS4, and Xbox one versions of P5 did run at 30fps. Although if I’d use my ally I’d never use turbo mode on battery as less than an hour is no where near enough. I’d stick to performance at 15w or less for TDP. Steam deck only wins because it typically runs at a lower wattage. Both batteries are equal in six and equal TDP on both makes them last practically identical since they have the same size battery
If anyone hasn't already or is planning to add more storage on the ally, make sure you buy the NVME mod so you can add a full size NVME SSD. It's cheaper and makes your ally even faster.
I ended up picking up Meta Quest 3 since i already own a gaming console and wanted a completely different experience and i dont regret a bit. VR has come a long way and Quest 3 is the king of stand alone VR
Impressive video production for someone who's only uploaded two videos!! I'm contemplating on getting a ROG Ally ... but decided to hold off until the Legion Go releases to decide which to get.
Thanks so much! I try :) I'm getting the Legion mostly because it's so different to the Ally and I wanna see if it can make me fall out of love with the Ally lol Hope your Legion Go experience is going well since launch!
@@JosephStillGames The Legion Go hasn’t been released in my country of residence. Fingers crossed, that wouldn’t take too long! But will be looking forward to hear your point of view :)
I was waiting for legion go too. But when I saw the difference in screen quality comparison I bought ally. Legion got bad sound and joystick too. Ally plays all games at 45+ frames and looks amazing. 1080 looks like 1440p on my PS5. Lower resolution looks like 1080 on my gaming laptop. Playing older games like it's first time
@@michaeldidikof634 The thing is ... I intend to use the system I eventually buy as more than just a gaming handheld. So, the bigger screen & faster RAM are still enticing to me. Yet here where I live, the Legion costs 120$ more. And true, for the time being, the Ally is more optimized.
Man I feel the same I loved my vita I played persona golden on it and man I haven’t had that same feeling since . I literally retuned my ally because I could figure out if I liked it or not .

Truly refreshing video. My first handheld since the OG Gameboy will be that other one from Lenovo, but I appreciate all you said and am approaching it the same way. The best handheld is the one that meets your needs, and if it doesn't return it. Just brilliant, thanks!
It a great device, just the battery that lets it down, the main issue is the power watt usage it uses for games, what the steam deck does great over the Ally. Regardless it does look good in the future for handhelds to tackle this issue in future.
Hey there! If you're reading this, thanks for clicking and watching the video😊❤🔥 On my second video ever, it's incredible to see the support that you and others have been showing the video so far! Thank you!!! While I do plan to talk about some more handhelds coming up, I do also have regular game reviews and video essays on general gaming topics in the pipeline. If that sounds like your jam, or you just vibe with what I have to say then stick around by hitting subscribe or don't, either way: Thank you and see you on the flip-side! 🤸
I highly recommend getting the Steam Deck. No words I use, no video you watch, will make you understand why until you have your own. And yes, I have the Rog Ally and waiting for my Legion Go. Legion Go looks prototype'y af.
I currently have the steam deck and I like it, but don’t find myself reaching for it when I want to play games. If the legion go is amazing I might get it, if not the R.O.G Ally seems to be in a good place right now.
Very helpful video, thank you! I am about to have my first child and want something I can play anywhere in the house and not be tied down to wifi or cloud gaming. So this might work for me!
Honestly with the legion go sounding as good as it does, it’s better to wait until that launches since they’re gonna be the same price so you can more easily since if one or the other is worth it.
I worry about the support of these non Valve handheld PCs. They can have all the power and specs in the world day 1 but the software side of things may make them useless in a few years if Asus or Lenovo forgets about them. Third party mods and support from random individuals may be the only saving grace. I lean towards the Deck due to Valve and lower cost. Its weaker processing power is a pro in a way as it allows superior battery life. Only powering an 800p 60Hz screen is far more doable than native 1080p 100Hz+ as well.
2nd video....good shit bud.....please make more steam deck stuff....or what games are good for either ROG or the deck.

Just bought mine and I totally love it, emulating nintendo switch games (that I already owned but sold my switch so they're tied to my nintendo account) was awesome 👍, but it also deals with my favorite games like diablo 4 or assassins creed valhalla without a problem, it's night and day for me compared to my gaming laptop
Only thing I disagree with is the "why play Xenoblade Chronicles 3?" thing. Gameplay aside, the narrative, soundtrack and characters are the best of that year. Ragnarok has a great narrative, but most of us couldn't care less about Atreus or the others and the soundtrack is forgettable in comparison. This is definitely an agenda on my part, but I'll say it anyway. Play Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for a memorable experience like no other. (Play Ragnarök too, this isn't a dig at it, they're both great. But definitely don't skip Xenoblade Chronicles 3) Great video nonetheless. I have a friend who buys all these handhelds only to get bored of them and sell them within months, so I got curious.
Anbernic win600 (6" screen) would have been ideal had it used faster CPU like Ryzen instead of obsolete Athlon cpu, more ram and higher res. It would have beaten both steam deck and ally on hours usage. And it's more portable than steamdeck or ally.
Hahaha, I've been getting more of this question than I thought. Sorry to say, I can't find any details on the bag. I got it as a souvenir from a trip to Hawaii and it has no tags to say who made it :/
Loved the video now I'm more decided to to get the ROG Ally, yet I do am a guy who likes to carry stuff in his backpack for precautions, so can you tell me more details about the power bank you use on the ally? Thank you very much
Hey, a bit late but was working on a new video. The power bank is here in some other comment, but wanted to mention this is NOT the kind of bank that is compatible with the 30w mode. I would look for another one if you haven't already
Watched your video 2 times. Great video and it convinced me to get a DecK Oled! Thank you for your honesty. Don’t want to tinker much. And the gamepass problem with the offline mode… hard pass. Had that problem with two switches…
I sold my switch and games and bought an ally and is crazy how i can play god of war for 1 hour and still have 25% batteryon a handheld, still not a tank like the switch but its a good handhed gaming pc that runs any game good, i normally play at home so a power bank or the console charger works fine for me! Not easy to give 700 for it but i really like this stuff and gaming 😂
I just got mine recently and I honestly absolutely love it it’s beautiful such. Amazing machine I’m not a mega gamer and spend hours and hours playing so for me it’s perfect just chill on couch playing it’s amazing!!! Yes SD card thing sucks but I honestly don’t need hella space
Awesome video! But your hard earned money was spent for something that didn’t last, I would be griping at Asus and giving it a bad review if they don’t fix it for you. Seems like normal Asus putting out trash and then not supporting it. I was worried they would do this after seeing how they did customers of their motherboards and video cards. This video just reiterated I am better off not getting the Ally though. Thank you! I have a steam deck and it’s awesome, but I want a windows system too. Ultimately I would want my money back if I were you, you are definitely a chill and easy going dude. Regardless great video, I loved it it was really good bro. You earned the like and subscribe.
Thanks for your support! I am going to send it for repair, but ASUS has lost a few points for this and the previous product issues you mentioned as well. Would I buy it again? Probably not, but as said in the video I do enjoy the overall experience I have as a sort of casual user of the Ally. That said, I'm glad the video helped inform you, and that you have a handheld you enjoy! Thanks for liking and subscribing, see you around ☺️❤️
The Ally has a LOT of good aspects. 1. First, it is windows, I do have a nice Steam account but sorry, having my Xbox Game Pass here is absolutely genius. I cross play and cross save on my PC, my Xbox and my Ally. That's nuts, you litteraly have a portable Xbox with your saves and your success on the go. 2. The hardware MAYBE "looks" a little bit cheap but I don't feel like this while playing. I mean once in game it is perfect, it feels right in your hands. 3. Having a portable windows PC is not only about Xbox game pass and Steam but any other platform. Nice isn't it ? Ok look : do not advise this device to a non tech savvy person. I did. It failed. This thing is for people who are OK with spending time upgrading/testing/managing their windows install to get the best out of it. It is everything but an out of the box experience. If you're fine with it you SHOULD buy it. If not the Steam Deck is for you.
Hey, thanks a ton! First off, thank you (or your service member if asking on their behalf) for your/their service. I would say that because of the SD card issues, unless you expand the SSD yourself, then don't rely on this thing for tons of space if you want to have a good amount of games to last you the deployment. I'm guessing battery life is also a concern, so I would say if you don't need a ton of games outside of the Steam store, maybe get a Steam Deck. Otherwise, shop around for a more reliable handheld. Hope this helps, and stay safe :)
solid video, however, and i hope others have pointed it out, rog, isnt a word, the standard way to pronounce ROG, is to say the letters one by one, the R . O . G . ally, honestly for me, (and i am sure for others it might not be an issue) have no issue with it, but it was super grating
Hello, really enjoyed the video, thank you for the insight! Though I am still a bit torn on buying the ally. I am going to a uni sometime next year, and planning on purchasing a (non-gaming) laptop and a handheld. I'd like to ask if you think I should purchase the rog ally now (have the opportunity), or maybe its better to wait and mayhap something better might get released next year or year after that? Thank you and have a great day!♡
Hey there, thanks a bunch! As someone fresh out of uni, good luck and have fun! To answer your question, waiting is the better option. There’s rumors that we may get a Switch 2 or a Steam Deck 2 announcement next year, so I wouldn’t place a bet on anything if you’re looking for a device that you won’t want to upgrade for a while. Even in the 4 months the Ally has been out, the Lenovo Legion Go has come out and its way different so keep an eye out for more :)
I didn't believe the SD card reader till it burnt out my 1tb SD card after a week. I ended up getting a dock with a mini and regular SD card reader. There's a dock which can house an SSD card with a few other ports.
As someone who has owned both the Ally and the Steam Deck my take is that they absolutely cannot be called handheld devices. I was lucky to get 2 hours from the Deck and 1.5 hours from the Ally. Don't get me wrong they are incredible machines and great portable PCs but the batteries just aren't there yet
Should I keep my rog ally or go with the legion go ? The sd card hasn’t been an issue but I am within the holiday return period and I want some opinions or advice
Can’t speak for the long term reliability for the Lenovo Legion Go yet. If you want a bigger better screen, and like the features of the lenovo more, then go for that one. If the Ally feels comfortable to you and you prefer a quieter, smaller device, then stick with ROG. They are mostly the same device internally otherwise
Ive been playing on my ally for about a month now and i love it. Upgraded to a 2tb ssd tonight. I do wish the battery lasted longer but even then most the time i can just put it on a charger at that point. I have gamed on it lightly for about an hour and a half total on battery. I would like better battery hours like my android handhelds but hey i have performance when i need it so trade off. I can always get my other handheld out and play emulation for that.
So the Ally actually is not a real handheld because you are literally bound to a power outlet. Why get it then? Just get a PC. If you need a power outlet every hour , it is just a bad overpriced low level PC.
@@iksounds Im ok with it,has the VRR over the legion go but damn the smaller size screen, But for an open box for around 2000kr lower price, is kinda fair enough. Just get yourself a big size power bank and all should be good. Kinda considering between the two.
I've just got my Ally to replace my Steam deck and it's been kind of liberating. I don't know how, but I've been super unlucky with games not being compatible on the Steam deck and it was really getting in the way of my enjoyment (A problem my GF never had with it) But I don't know, my early impressions of the thing are really, really good. My main complaints are that windows makes a lot of the setup and configuration work a pain in the ass, I wouldn't recommend this device to someone who's not a super tech enthusiast, that's a job for the steam deck. The battery life is also a little concerning, but I don't really play games in places where I can't plug in the device so it's whatever?
Question 🙋 When you play with Plug-in mode 🔌, does it affect the battery 🔋 somehow? Does it treat like laptop battery and it can be replaced? I had PSP in the past and played like that pretty much back then and notice the battery floating that I have to discard it later.
I'm looking forward to getting an upgraded hard drive in mine just because I'd like access to all my games without having to micromanage storage, but I've still enjoyed the experience I've had with my Ally. Glad you're enjoying yours. Will be interested to see how the Legion stacks up too, but honestly there's never been a more exciting time to be a PC gamer. These things can only get better and I'm here for it!
Steam Deck doesnt do everything well. You have lots of fiddling to do with proton versions, and complicated install processes for non-steam games. On top of that you sometimes have to fidle with setting to get ateam games to perform well.

Thanks a bunch! Good investment on that TB card. Definitely haven’t had my ally get too hot, but hope that doesn’t become a problem later lol
I have 1tb nvme and 1tb micro sd card had no reason to upgrade and i also have gaming pc and consoles so i dont use it for big games. Rog ally is good for on the go games
oh how do u add a 1tb card the one thing that kept me from buying it so far is that atrocious half a terabyte which is nothing on modern gamws
@@sgt_butter7127I just bought a 2tb SSD and a 90 degree adapter to run faster storage for my ally
Plenty of UA-cam videos give step by step instructions that could be completed in 10 minutes
You can back up your device externally or the ally has built in cloud restore over wifi
Well said. I'm going with legion go for the same reasons
@@podkse Only issue i have with the Legion GO Right now is there is no current reviews for the product & will it have an affordable eGPU. The ally Had ton of reviews months before its release. The legion Go has only one and its the Demo version and not retail units. Still waiting on the eGPU support.
@vizknight1862 I read that the official reviews come out the 24 (tomorrow) and lenovo released their spec sheet, the go supports thunderbolt 3.
@@JosephStillGamesLG is tabletop play😅
Will need a bigger table for sure lol
How was it?
@@s.r.hadden525 i'm loving it so far been playing apex legends and persona 5 royal. i bought a gaming mouse and keyboard too 😅 now i'm saving up for the external graphic dock from asus (geforce rtx 4090) it'll take me 3 months, shit is expensive 😕
I'm waiting for this type of video for a long time ⌛️
great review 👏🏻
Let me just say this, I'm the type of guy that sells his gaming stuff when he doesn't use it. I have had the ROG Ally since launch, and I have yet to put it down. It honestly changed pc gaming for me in a big way. With all these handhelds coming out, I'm grateful that this is the one I got. I thought it would be a console for when I'm at work but I play it mostly in bed so I have zero issue with performance.
The only hope I have is one day they make an SD card specifically for the issue behind SD'd getting fried.
Ooo yeah I never heard of that one. I’ll give it a look, thank you :)

Thanks for this video. I’ve been on the fence for a while to buy this but I think I will now after watching this.
The SSD is upgradable rather than using a micro SD
2tb Western digital sn740 SSDs are like 100 USD rn on AliExpress, replaced mine on the ally and it's more than enough
Had nothing but software and hardware problems with my rog ally and had to return it and decided to order an oled steam deck
Battery is my only complaint as I wish at times I could move around the house. As for everything else I loved the Asus Rog Ally.

Steam deck all day and night🌙
In love with your background on your ally I want it lol!
Wow excellent video I was fully captivated from start to end.thank you for sharing your insight.
Thank you so so much! I appreciate the support and am glad the video resonated with you all the way through
PS3, PS4, and Xbox one versions of P5 did run at 30fps.
Is the a software?
Not only did ASUS make it easy, Best Buy, ASUS, and Western Digital teamed up to make a SN770 class 2230 2TB drive.
I try :)
I'm getting the Legion mostly because it's so different to the Ally and I wanna see if it can make me fall out of love with the Ally lol
Hope your Legion Go experience is going well since launch!
Great review! I’m thinking of getting one just to play Halo Wars 2. Any chance you’ve tried to play that game on the ROG Ally?
Man I feel the same I loved my vita I played persona golden on it and man I haven’t had that same feeling since . I literally retuned my ally because I could figure out if I liked it or not .
Persona and handhelds is a match made in heaven, no matter which generation
I love the ally. The known issues were already known to me and i had news legion go was coming. But asied from the techni7issues the ally has, its a beautiful device that runs every game becu8its that powerful. So i bought one and damn i didn't regret it

Truly refreshing video. My first handheld since the OG Gameboy will be that other one from Lenovo, but I appreciate all you said and am approaching it the same way. The best handheld is the one that meets your needs, and if it doesn't return it. Just brilliant, thanks!
very good video man! keep it up, would love to hear more about emulation though hehe
Thanks, I cover emulation a bit more in my latest vid about the legion go, hope that helps!
Found this video accidentally; great job. Enjoy another sub
It a great device, just the battery that lets it down, the main issue is the power watt usage it uses for games, what the steam deck does great over the Ally. Regardless it does look good in the future for handhelds to tackle this issue in future.
Love your wallpaper. Where did you get that?
Bought on a few days ago for a really good price. I love this device no going back.

I highly recommend getting the Steam Deck. No words I use, no video you watch, will make you understand why until you have your own. And yes, I have the Rog Ally and waiting for my Legion Go. Legion Go looks prototype'y af.
Another gamer who plays going under I salute you
I currently have the steam deck and I like it, but don’t find myself reaching for it when I want to play games. If the legion go is amazing I might get it, if not the R.O.G Ally seems to be in a good place right now.
I just love how you call it the rog when it is a acronym for Republic Of Gaming or ROG.
This was really entertaining thank you
Very helpful video, thank you! I am about to have my first child and want something I can play anywhere in the house and not be tied down to wifi or cloud gaming. So this might work for me!
nice video man, thumbs up
Honestly with the legion go sounding as good as it does, it’s better to wait until that launches since they’re gonna be the same price so you can more easily since if one or the other is worth it.
Ah, the ‘there’s something better around the corner’-conondrum.
There’s always something better coming. Always.
AutoTDP and disable turbo boost on CPU you will get a better battery life :)
But definitely don't skip Xenoblade Chronicles 3)
Great video nonetheless. I have a friend who buys all these handhelds only to get bored of them and sell them within months, so I got curious.
But it does have Hall effect joysticks
Good video,very helpful.
Anbernic win600 (6" screen) would have been ideal had it used faster CPU like Ryzen instead of obsolete Athlon cpu, more ram and higher res. It would have beaten both steam deck and ally on hours usage. And it's more portable than steamdeck or ally.
Where'd you get that bag @10:38? It looks perfect
Hahaha, I've been getting more of this question than I thought. Sorry to say, I can't find any details on the bag. I got it as a souvenir from a trip to Hawaii and it has no tags to say who made it :/
I'm happy with my ally. I just bought it last month

I feel lucky. I got mine on launch day and still haven't had an SD card issue.
Does it really matter if he's still having fun with the device daily? Like, yeah Asus should do better but also it didn't impact this user.
Great vid! All the best for your channel! 😎🙌
Hey, I watched a ton of your videos when I first got this thing! Thank you and thanks a ton for your efforts!!!
VERY COMPREHENSIVE review, great work! Keep it up.
Awesome video! Would this be good for a military deployment? (No access to WiFi for extended periods of time) just using pre-downloaded games.
The Ayaneo 2s is much more compact smaller bezels but same screen size though only 60hz no VRR 😂
Nice video. How do you install the games you get in portal developer mode?
solid video, however, and i hope others have pointed it out,
rog, isnt a word, the standard way to pronounce ROG, is to say the letters one by one, the R . O . G . ally,
honestly for me, (and i am sure for others it might not be an issue) have no issue with it, but it was super grating
Do u recommend the basic version of the Ally?
Even in the 4 months the Ally has been out, the Lenovo Legion Go has come out and its way different so keep an eye out for more :)
since I bought rog ally, I have never touched my steam deck, I don't even know where I left it
I didn't believe the SD card reader till it burnt out my 1tb SD card after a week. I ended up getting a dock with a mini and regular SD card reader. There's a dock which can house an SSD card with a few other ports.
the sarcasm at 5:46 i do that to everytime :D
Which power bank did u buy?
Very great!
Love the ally and my steam deck oled!
Connect to phone wifi and surely you can play gamepass games on it installed
WHAT GAME IS IT @ 9:25?

@@JosephStillGames alright bruh, struggling on UA-cam but thanks, I learnt a few things from your video
Wooooooow❤
I've just got my Ally to replace my Steam deck and it's been kind of liberating.
I don't know how, but I've been super unlucky with games not being compatible on the Steam deck and it was really getting in the way of my enjoyment (A problem my GF never had with it)
But I don't know, my early impressions of the thing are really, really good.
I loved the vita and I’m enjoying the ally so far…even with the love hate relationship I have with windows
I got two steam deck's i love them way more then my Switch
