Gloria Rojas died this year in 2022...40 years after she did this broadcast, I remember her in my youth watching channel 7 news - I was 17 years old back in 1982 RIP Ms. Rojas!
My dad always told me the story of the day i was born, april 5, 1982 in milwaukee wisconsin. He got stuck in the snow and had to leave his car and walk home. Fun to see coverage from that time.
I remember this one because it was in April. In New Jersey. Blizzards don't normally happen there in April. There was three feet of snow at my parents house.
11 years old and had just started my new paper route the week before. Up here near Buffalo we got a big dumping of heavy, wet snow that made things awkward for a day or two but it melted pretty quickly, of course. Ten days later, we had a high temp of 80.
Damn, I was 5 1/2 years old when this happened in 1982 because I didn’t turn six until November 1982 damn I remember all these people back in the 80s on channel 7 kaity still the same in 2024 if you watch the channel 11 news you’ll see her she still looks the same damn way wow
Man, do I remember that day. Thought we were done with the winter. What a big disappointment when I got up to go work that morning and saw that mess. I was not a happy camper.
That's funny, I basically just made the exact same post before reading yours. Down in Dunkirk I had just started my new paper route the week before and I remember what a pain it was trudging through that snow. 1982 was a strange weather year in WNY. That December was absurdly warm.
@@BudSchnelker I remember the first December weekend it got to 81 on the Friday. And then, Christmas itself... despite having snowed some days before and some snow piles still noticeable, that day saw 62 with rain. YOW!
@@lloydmarshalljr1951 Yes, I vividly remember getting home from school that Friday and it felt like summer. And Christmas day it was 64 down here and rained hard much of the day. All that happened before Al Gore and James Hansen invented global warming, too!
I do, and I remember they cancelled Opening Day at Yankee Stadium because of it. I forgot when Shea Stadium was supposed to open, but I think it was sometime after this.
@@DTD110865 I was a Junior in High School and we had the week off from school for Easter break.....so no need for a snowday from school as we were already off.

I Was Eight Years Old In 1982!
I got off the D train at 205th that night and it took me an hour and a half to walk a quarter mile home in waist deep snow
I worked in Penn Station back then. It was a doozy!!

RIP Bill Beutel, Roger Grimsby, Gloria Rojas.
I was there! 1982, Audio Department, Studio TV-13, WABC-TV.
Damn you old lol jk😊
Honestly, I'd rather this be happening right now and not us having to be stuck indoors because of a deadly virus for months. 😞
The virus is not deadly for most people who get it. There are way more recoveries than deaths the Royal Lab Stats map shows this.
Only idiots wore masks and killed the economy
I was born April 6th 1977! In the Bronx Ny! What an awesome Birthday!

Lol...I still remember the 4/7/82 news paper cover page with the cartoon cover
The Long Island Rail Road back then had the M-1 cars
Real news then fake news now
Not surprised but look when everything was reported/written on paper before the 2000s
I hate computers
Hmmmm. Was a junior at Penn State. We had a big snow Good Friday of that year. Would this be the same storm?
Oh wow! I was 5 almost 6 years old and living in South Effingham, New Hampshire my hometown in 1982.
I WAS BORN 2 YEARS LATER IN MARCH 1984 IN BROOKLYN, NY!!
We had snow and ice in the Buffalo area this same day. Just a week and a half later, on the last day of Easter vacation, it got up to 81 degrees.

Braniff would cease airline operations only a month later.
I remember this storm. News room didn't even have a word processor.
My mom was pregnant with me for a month in East Keansburg, New Jersey when the blizzard happened. I was born by Dec 7th.
All that needs to be updated
