- Hello everyone and welcome back! Today we're back with another classic Stone Roses, the second track from 'Second Coming' Driving South! In part 1 we're going to have a look at the iconic opening riff, then get into the meat and potatoes of the track - verse 1 through to chorus 2. In part number 2 we're going to break down the guitar solo.

Started on this; this is one of those that will improve technique all round, really satisfying to learn, bends, slides, hammers, flicks, jumping around the neck - worth the blistered middle finger. John Squire's indulgence this on that 2nd album
Haha tbh when I made this lesson I gave myself a new blister on my middle finger, which is something that hasn't happened to me for probably over 10 years at this point so I understand your pain haha! It's surprising how athletic you need to be to pull this riff off, very demanding throughout (the solo in part 2 is a nightmare as well haha). Great to hear you've started it though Sean, get the nuts and bolts down and I'll give you a real headache in part 2!
I’ve never seen a tutorial for this song on UA-cam…sweet Jesus. And I’ve just cut my index finger a few days ago so….arghh!! Thank you from the bottom of the heart of a young 90s guitar player.
Ah I know your pain all too well 😂 tbh when I made this I gave myself a blister on my middle finger purely from the riff, which is something I haven’t done to myself in about 10+ years 😂 but you’re very welcome! Time to get stuck in eh! 🎸

Just to say that Squire plays most of the turnaround section between the 5th and 7th frets rather than in open position. Great lesson like 👍
