Very interesting style and design. This could well have been in SoHo NY, London or Berlin. Thank you for always discovering and reviewing otherwise overlooked properties! 🙏🏼
L’Idiot was the name of a posh restaurant in Steve Martin’s “LA Story”, where you had to go ahead of time and have an interview and financial analysis before they allowed you to reserve for the night. The restaurants’ logo was a photo of Mussolini - considering no half-dishes, seems appropo.
As always, great video. I always try to follow your recommendations and never get disappointed. Going to Taipei again next April and booked this hotel since it’s quite interesting unlike Le Meridien, W Or Sheraton Taipei. This hotel is very centrally located to all the yummy restaurants ! Thanks!
i wish you post this earlier. I just stayed 5 nights at doubletree by hilton, Taipei. Service was nearly to none, not even a mention any update options to diamond members. Breakfast was also so MEH. smh
I just want to point out the nice background music you used for this video. It has the oriental touch to it which makes it sound appropriate for this kind of video. I've been to Taipei many times on business trips so I may need to check out this place in the future. You should also visit Kaohsiung in the southern part of Taiwan. cheers.
Your Saigon - Taipei itinerary is so similar. Lived in Taipei for 8 years, now 8 in Saigon and your choices / preferences are pretty much identical:) Breakfasts in Taipei hotels are always mediocre, unless one goes for the big guns like Marriot etc.
I’ve been to Taipei many times but I think these two hotels in Taipei were the first time I ever had breakfast in a hotel there haha. Always relied on my favorite eateries in the past. Thanks for watching 🩴
Another great video that will serve me eprsonal very well. I am in Taipei quite often, and soon again as well. After watching it think i will keep my usual selection of Hyatt for the superior brekki and exceptional gym facilities.
A general comment, I was watching one of your videos with my wife (a hotel review) and halfway through when you said , thanks for watching, she thought that was it and walked off!
As always, an excellent, enjoyable review! Interesting hotel, it seems to want to look a bit grubby and worn in! Character I guess. But love the artistic ways of the Taiwanese. Will be going to Taiwan this year, and have waiting for this review. 😊
Hi Kevin! I only came across you on UA-cam yesterday, but have now watched around 20 of your videos.. all awesome. I have an idea to add to your content, but can’t see how to DM you. Thanks!
This looks like a wonderful place, thank you for another great review! When you say the hotel was designed by, do you mean both building and interior or the interior only? BTW there’s a typo in the intro: 1:33 personalized booking *advice (or do Americans spell it with an S?)
If there is information available about a different interior vs. exterior designer, I’ll make that distinction. If I can’t find such information, than I presume it’s the same designer throughout. And thanks for the spell check. Will fix the graphic but you’ll be seeing it in the next 6 or so videos that are already uploaded haha.
Doesn't seem like a choice for me even though I enjoy the unique design because I'm not a fan of the walking into the bathroom thing. I really enjoyed the Hilton Taipei, seems like not the best area for tourists but the price was reasonable and was actually closer to the city attractions than I though. But oh wow, those restaurant prices seem quite expensive for Taipei, no? I was blown away with the Taiwanese food in the city, did you enjoy any during your shorter stay?
I haven’t. I’m not a fan of their pricing policies (essentially a baseline of $900/night, regardless of location) which makes them a really poor value in some of the locations I’d actually like to try them out. In no world should a resort in Vietnam be the same price as ‘the best’ hotel in Tokyo- especially when I know they pay standard wages in Vietnam . When I see one that blows me away or seems worth the money- I’m happy to try one out.
Yeah it’s odd, but when you consider that the alternative would be to take away space from another part of the room in order to make a proper entry I think it’s easier to digest haha.
I stayed in this hotel last December, in the exact same room type, and the room smelled intensely of mildew. The breakfast also tasted quite bad. I’m a fan of your content in general, but in this case, I think you were far too generous.
Fair enough- if my room smelled like mildew or my breakfast tasted bad my score would have likely been lower, but I didn’t experience those things. Thanks for watching 🩴
Thanks for this. I have to say this hotel is now firmly off the radar for me. Several aspects I did not like the look of, especially the room/bathroom layout, and, the copper walls that gave me the creeps. It made me question how well they actually clean the place if they are content to leave grubby fingermarks on plain view. That did not say "Feature" to me, it said sloppy standards. I also felt it was over-priced for what was offered, you don't even get a door on the bathroom!. In my part of the world we have a saying... "It's all Fur Coat and no Knickers". For those who don't understand, it translates as "All show and nothing underneath". I won't comment any further, it's simply not for me. My genuine thanks for a helpful review.
Knock Knock... Room Service. Yeah, could you just ignore my wife in the bath and bring it through.... would almost be worth it to see the look on her face!

Yes Berlin is a good shout out, it would fit in really well there- Madrid as well I think. Thank you as always for your support 🙏🏻

System sounds like a more modern version of Ryōtei initiation in Kyoto haha. Thanks for watching 🩴

It sure is! Enjoy your trip 🗺️
Halfway into the video and already liking this one, Quality content as usual! I would love to see you do some reviews in China!
I would love to make some content in China… as soon as their pricing (especially airfares) come back down to earth lol. Thanks for watching 🩴

Sometimes you go to travel just for the hotelrooms XD. Great content as always
Thanks very much 🙏🏻

Hope you enjoy your trip! I'll be back next year- for some food, if nothing else haha.
Yes the food..😋!
Excellent hotel review, as always. I’m wondering what factors did you consider in choosing this hotel among all other hotels in Taipei.
It’s rarely just one thing for me haha. I rate hotels with 10 or so different metrics to help me choose. Thanks for watching 🩴

Cant wait for your India series!👏👏🥳🥳
It’ll be worth the wait!

I'm sure it will Kevin! You are the best!

@@tfft pls, what does tfft stand for? I googled it, but that can’t be the answer that I found 😁
Thank you ✈️

Yes of course. Taipei is my favorite food city on earth! I have a Taipei Foodie map published on my Patreon. Thanks for watching 🩴
@@tfft Yes I agree, my favourite too along with Bangkok. Noticed there’s a mistake in the title, ‘resort’ tour?
Hilton or Hyatt ae my go to as well. Although at Hilton service could be better, and Hyatt is quiet rushy at times.
Have you receiwed any Aman properties? Would love to hear your take on them.

@@tfft that makes sense. Thanks 😊
Loved the hotel . But just can't get my mind round , entering the room , through the bathroom ?
Yeah it’s odd, but when you consider that the alternative would be to take away space from another part of the room in order to make a proper entry I think it’s easier to digest haha.

What camera do you use for recording?
Late model iPhones. Thanks for watching 🩴
Should we assume your rates are in USD?
Yes they always are and I usually write that. Forgot in this case but have corrected.
The interior almost looks like Park Hyatt Jakarta Indonesia
I think the Park Hyatt Jakarta might take issue with that statement lol. Thanks for watching 🩴
Lmao

If we all had the same taste life would be far too easy 😉 Thanks for watching 🩴
thanks for the video, but the hotel doesn't make me feel relaxed, too complicated.
Thanks for watching 🩴
Entering in the bathroom is a great idea if you have a bad meal in Taipei that gives you diarrhea.
Fair enough, I guess.
@@tfft lol
If you objectively consider it, this hotel's decor seems to be very confused. IMO.
Subjectively lol
EMPTY balcony , sad
