Thank you. Hopefully, you enjoyed the video! 😀 We do learn key phrases in each country that we visit. We have been to over 20 now in the last 3 years. It is difficult to learn them all.
I'm retired American and my mother owned a house there in San Miguel de Allende for many years. There's a number of good restaurants and cafes there and expect to pay more for a hotel or place or meal there, but it's probably my favorite place here in Mexico.
I’m glad you guys are still in San Miguel de Allende, my family and I just got to San Miguel yesterday, I hope I get to meet you guys before you guys leave. I remember watching your first videos and you guys were an inspiration for me.
Not a shameless plug because I am no longer trying to grow my YT channel, but I have about 12 videos of SMA, and they are not of the Centro area. A perspective on what it's really like living in SMA.
WOW! You have inspired me to visit Mexico- a country that I have shied away from in my world travels. Thanks for such GREAT content throughout your travels there. Cheers!
The Mennonite Mom did a video today about budget travelling. I recommended your channel to her as she was looking for more tips and tricks. She sent me a message to say that she will definitely be checking you guys out!! Everyone is looking for ideas!
We were on a plane in Tijuana heading to San Miguel De Allende and my friend felt really sick, turns out she had the flu so we deboarded the plane. We never made it there. Now after your video I want to try again and visit. As I have said before, I have been to a lot of Mexico but bummed we never made it to San Miguel. Thank you for the video
Thank you both for making such a great video! I really didn't know much about this part of Mexico and I now have this city on my bucket list! I appreciate that you showed us all the highlights, gave the cost breakdown & addressed safety. You guys are wonderful! Keep the videos coming!
Thanks for sharing, well informed video. I mentioned in the Oaxaca video I lived in Mexico and was very near in SLP so spent many weekend in San Miguel. Thanks again.
Your accommodations were absolutely beautiful….we truly want to do this when we retire. San Miguel is in our list. Aruba, Curacao as well. Thank you for your wonderful channel❤
Thanks for all the great info in this video. SMA is high on my list of places to go this coming year. I appreciate that you offer great advice and pricing wherever you go. Thanks, again, and safe travels! 🙂
We didn't take Spanish in high school like others. We also didn't take Italian, German, Portuguese, Romanian, or the other 20 countries that we've been to in the last 3 years, but we do our best. 😁 Thank you for watching and the comment. Cheers 🍻
You are exploring areas of Mexico that I have never seen. This is very informative and like other places you have explored makes me look to add them to a Bucket List. Looks like a fabulous place that you are staying in. I would miss being close to the beach.
We loved SMA, and our go-to taco place was Baja Fish Taquito! We were in the city for 7 days and I think we ate there 4 times, lol. So delicious and cheap. I would have happily paid twice as much!
Baja Fish is one of my favorites. Also check out Stirling Dickinson (great area to stay in) for best bakeries and Pork Belly. Mobility is HARD. It's nicknamed the City of Fallen Women as so many of us fall down (and men Brian:) Love my old home. First time stayed 2 months then a year. It brings you back.
We spend winters in Puerto Vallarta and also enjoy buying groceries at La Comer. It is a very modern grocery chain. We tend to do an occasional big shop there (and at Costco) and then top off our supplies in local markets (seafood, meat, fruit/veg, etc.) easily walkable from where we stay.
Probably be in SMA in January as some of the other Mexico UA-cam channels are planning a Meetup. Will be nice to go for a couple of days! Thanks for the insightful videos
Sorry if you've already discussed, but do you guys use a specific app to track your spending along the way, or just manually track it after the fact from bank statements? Thank you!
Hi! Thanks so much for giving us a glimpse into this fascinating country. Just wondering how you have found the LARQ water bottles and do you still use them in places like Mexico?
We are considering going to Mexico City end of January and staying in a hotels. With the water shortages and being the dry season would you recommend going a different time of year?
We did a couple of videos about Mexico City and suggest that you go in the rainy season or just after. We didn't have any problems at the end of September.
Hi Brian and Carrie, thank you for sharing the great information in this video. Your rental accommodation looks so nice. Is that an airbnb house/apartment? Can you share how to find this accommodation? Thank you.
He is a friend of ours. We met a few times and chatted over a few drinks for hours. They love being there and are finding the schools and living options to be great.

Loved this video which reminded us of our fun times in SM. If you are still there, you might enjoy the La Gruta Hot Springs. About a $10 cab ride there (then $10 back to town), entry fee about $15 pp, but it is very worth it. Google for pics. Wednesday is best day because they close on Monday & Tuesday and everything is fresh and terrific on Wednesday (and not crowded), but we go there in February, so days closed, etc. might be different now. If you’ve left already, maybe put on the list for next time!
Once again, thank you for sharing about your travel there is San Miguel! Good information! But please…can the correct pronunciation comments STOP?!? I mean you guys have been all over the world… Keep doing what you’re doing 😍 and we hope to meet you someday. 🤞
I don't mean to sound negative but you really need to brush up on your spanish pronunciation skills. Other than that, great video and very informative. Thank you!
Thanks for the feedback! 😄 Although, we don't know the Spanish language to "brush up" on. We actually need to learn it! 😀 We struggled in Thailand, Italy, Poland, Germany, and all the others as well.
How was eating out and water so far in Mexico? We don't always have the best luck. Have to be so careful of the rule "if you can't peel it, don't eat it" with produce and we made mistake with salsa! So sick. Have you had to watch out at all?
One last thing Since you have pivoted to this new thing, that is pretty much white middle-class people traveling the only thing missing is Brian having his hat, turned backwards and saying bruh to the locals. Stop the direction and return to what makes you interesting.
2 weeks there and still mispronouncing the name Allende. I don’t understand it. Have you not spoken to anyone? Guys come on. I love watching you two but it’s frustrating to hear names in spanish mispronounced so badly. It’s not hard. Just ask people. :-)
Honestly, we do speak with people, and nobody has felt the need to correct us until now. We do try to learn phrases of each country we visit. Unfortunately, we don't know Spanish. We very much wish we did. Thank you for watching and being so kind in your comment.
UA-camrs should have a way to filter out comments from people venting their frustration, jealousy, or envy over a mispronounced Spanish word, as if mispronouncing a foreign word is some kind of disgrace or the end of the world. Having a bit of patience with some ignorant comments is fine, but trolling decent creators is not acceptable.
I really appreciate the fact that you, Carrie, give your safety perspective for a single woman traveling. Thank you!
We are glad you found that helpful! 😊 We have had a few singles ask so we just decided to make it a part of every video. 😊
El Jardin means "the garden" in Spanish. It's pronounced "har-deen," just FYI. :)
Thanks for the clarification! 😁
