    I am so happy you had such a great time in the magical city of Oaxaca. My spouse and I have visited twice for wonderful vacations. What is fabulous about Mexico is there are even more exciting places to visit! You will find the food up north is different, though equally delicious. And…eventually you will catch on that Mexican food isn’t quite what is served in “Mexican” restaurants in the United States-which I do like, but is really Texas Mex. I look forward to future videos in this amazing country.

    Carrie, I am impressed with your Spanish pronunciations! Brian, you have some work to do! And you guys got robbed with those purchases (hat and skirt). I would’ve gotten it down to half price at least! Just kidding, it’s still a great price and Brian, you’re rocking that hat! You’re amongst my people, enjoy the real Mexican hospitality! Another excellent travel guide video! I've learned about places on this channel that I had never heard of (Brno is a good example) and this is one of those places. Question - is there a language barrier of any kind? Cheers!

    • @FLANNELSHIRT
      @FLANNELSHIRT 9 днів тому +1

      Not as many English speaking native Mexicans as in places like Mexico City, Guadalajara, etc., so you will fare better with at least some simple Spanish. Also the translation apps for your mobile phone can break the barrier for basic needs.

    • @BrianandCarrie
      @BrianandCarrie  8 днів тому

      Thank you! Yes, there is a language barrier in Oaxaca. But Flannelshirt is correct. Google Translate app works great and its free. The people are also very friendly, and you are able to get an understanding quickly.

    I was last in Oaxaca 12 years ago. I heard it has gotten more touristy in recent years, which was quite evident in your last two videos there. Nice guide to Oaxaca. One other thing Oaxaca is known for is organized labor and, sadly, strikes. There is no Uber there because the Taxi union has successfully kept them out (sadly, with some violence) . When we were leaving Oaxaca our Taxi ride to the airport took 45 minutes because the driver had to take a convoluted route to avoid the streets blocked off due to a strike. Tlayudas absolutely rock!
