When Jordan Atkins-Loria (DJ Lucky Date) was introduced to Reason, he instantly recognized the potential of it's synths and set about to master them. Originally following tutorials he found online, Lucky Date began making his own tutorials which showcased his penchant for modern electro dance synths in Reason. As his tutorials grew in popularity, so did his career as a DJ and Producer.
In just a couple short years, DJ Lucky Date has gone from making his first video tutorial to completing 4 dirty electro dance ReFill sound libraries, charting on Beatport, and massive club and festival gigs as a headlininer.
We met up with Jordan one night in LA where he had a few thousand Angelinos jumping and screaming at Avalon in Hollywood, CA. Before the show he walked us through some of the secrets to his massive sounds and even gave us the patches so we can share them with you all.

Thanks for stopping by and watching!
Still use this method. Thank Reason and Jordan!
Still watching this man‘s tutorials in 2021
Thank God Lucky Date's parents raised him right and supported him with music background at a young age. I thank them for guiding him and then, on his own found a genre that the EDM world loves. such an EPIC electro house producer that has come this day and age of electronic music, he's just one of them, but slowly RISING popularity like his pitch bend signature sound. But what if he drops? Only thing dropping from him is his epic tracks and ALL must have badass refills that help others inspire
Really cool for him to show how to keep that rise with the pitch shift. As a producer I know a lot of us out there don't like to reveal some our catchy tricks like that. Dope that he does show us.
Its good to see some of the industry pros/users sharing secrets on how they do what they do....
Really inspirational what Lucky says at the end.
hahaha i love the fact that even that its just an interview with lucky date he still makes a tutorial out of this :D
Awesome tips. Thanks.
"Screw making songs for a while, Im gonna make..a Synth" ~Lucky Date
Great to have the alternative.
Love Reason
+James Bermingham I was just thinking about that quote and he's right I need to just sit-down and make a full sounding synth :D Thanks Jordan from Jordan :D
The length of the pitch ramp is based on the attack envelope of the patch. Just increase the attack.
double pitch rises = MIND BLOWN!!
His Refills are amazing. A-MA-ZING!
this is by far the best interview u guys have
Saw this guy in Dallas. He's awesome!

So glad to revisit this Interview, as this has the "Pitch Rise" tutorial I was looking for. Forgot where I seen it before, and it was here all alnong.
Props, you should take this tuit section from the interview, and have it as a Micro tutorial also, for you legion of users. Otherwise its just a hidden gem.
Great interview

This is an underrated video! ;)
@audiobahn404 and also, Shift changes the phase alignment. It takes the original and adds a copy at a certain offset (the shift) which helps bring out the high parts too.
Awesome tip!
my favorite dj
You can also hold the note if you route the osc pitch to the Global env instead.
Nice one Jordan! Great tips.

EVERYBODY! I DISCOVERED THE NAME OF THE SONG! FINALLY!
"King Kong - Lucky Date Remix"
FINALLY! I've been looking ever since I saw this video like six months ago. THE QUEST IS OVER!
With more and more people stepping away from Reason they need to do more things like this to engage their customers.I just hope Reason 6 is not too little too late.
@rhoggard76 unless I'm thinking about this wrong, the EQ curve that the unit applies brings out the highs in the sound with out making it ring too much.
the name of the songs are in the description
Thanks Its work great on my new song,,,,,I make music with my heart and you are my hero for reason becouse i leasrn so much lookin at youy how you make your music its helps me allot thanks
once i found out that surkin uses pretty much just reason alone, i knew that you dont need anything else but reason!
HE'S AT WOMP RIGHT NOW :D
He's a looks like a cool guy
Hi Jordan,
Loving your work in Reason :-)
Just a quick query I hope you can answer for me please.
How do I get your PanRiser patch to last longer? It cuts out after about 6 bars and I want it to last for 8...
Thanks in advance
Dan
@Linkin1122 - the next step for him is moving to Sweden, work on Reason 7 and became a Propeller-head
why does the shift in the EQ - BV512 - give the "crispyness" ?
2:42 is lucky dates remix of love is hard to find
How can I get the rising synth to keep on pitching for more tha just a few bars?
@AliveP00l im like 99.99% sure that is his unreleased track "I Want You" he has a preview out.
I'd like to know the name of the song that begins at 1:06? - it's amazing!
0:21 KING KONG IN THE TRUNK!
How long does it take for me to learn & be like him?
Which is the song with the female ''oh baby'' vocal?
I love this but how do you make that spreading out noise at the end of the rise like he does. That's sick as hell
What's the song at 2:42 called??
and the song of 5:05??
what is the name of the song(the first drop)
@stim124 its a super secret new original, shhhhh ;)
what's the name this program . please :D
@BucKzoRd Dub Disco?
guys need Interviewing HAEZER ;)
buy Reason and too can Get Lucky ;-)
I mean, Reason. XD
never heard of him
Reason is a very good software for making music, but I disagree with what he said at the end how anyone can make it as I've been making music for 15 years ... and I've never had any opportunities to promote my music. It's got nothing to do with talent. The scene is oversaturated ... and the music industry doesn't like artists who write conscious lyrics. To make it you clearly have to be a sellout. Anyways, I'm happy with my simple lifestyle. I just do music as a hobby. It's much better to have someone comment on my lyrics than having fame. Fame means nothing.
He must be from the bay. I used to work on youth radios tax return. Theyre a non profit org.
first :D
Wow, I always thought Lucky Date was black. No idea why.
the gay one
hahaha! kinda just faking it most of the time! gotta fake it til ya make it !!! i say this to people daily!!!
