- Vladimir Putin has said Russia would use 'all means at its disposal' to defend Belarus after claiming without evidence that Poland was seeking to invade the Russian ally.

Poland and other EU countries have expressed concern over training sessions held by the Wagner group for Belarusian troops in western Belarus, near the border with Poland. On Friday, Poland’s security committee said it would move troops toward the east in response to the deployment of the Russian paramilitaries near their border.
Speaking during a Kremlin security council meeting on Friday, the Russian president said Poland was 'dreaming of Belarusian lands' and 'unleashing aggression against Belarus would mean aggression against the Russian Federation'.

Poland actually LOST substantial land to the Soviet Union. Inter-war Poland in 1939 had a land area of 389,720 square kilometres. Post war after, the Soviets had annexed eastern Poland after invading alongside Germany. Poland was left with 312,677 square kilometres of land at the post war peace conference. Putin claims the USSR helped Poland to gain land but the only clear evidence is that they occupied 201,015 square kilometres.

@@A-G-T The pre-war eastern border ran pretty much north to south close to where you know have the Romanian and Moldova border. The southern area is now part of Western Ukraine, and the norther area is the western half of Belarus. The border was a little west of Minsk.

У СССР западную часть Украины и Беларуси, и не дала территории Германии чтобы получить границу с СССР, за что и поплатилась. Глупо обвинять Россию в том что она делала идеализируя историю Польши, обе страны вели агрессивную политику по отношению к соседним странам, за что обе и поплатились, Польшу поделили а советский Союз распался.
Естественно Польша жертва второй мировой войны, но далеко не невинная.

The Historical Record is a collection of not only contemporary witness testimony but also their collaborating documents and papers of that event in time. There is the Human factor of the Historian that can sometimes lead to conflicts of opinion if documentation is lacking or nonexistent but generally these situations are reserved for Ancient History, not Modern History where record keeping is common and evidence of fact is clear.

Difficult to know what he is really trying to do. I don't think he is mad enough to invade Poland as that would invoke Article-5. Perhaps it is an excuse to take over Belarus - to "protect" it from Poland. He has already put Prighozin and his gang there. He may be worried that Belarus could go the same way as Ukraine - Lukoshanko could be overthrown and Belarus go democratic.
He just told you that he will protect Belarus in the current situation, without taking over it.
