  • This is a quick video. How to transfer a Dire Straits song to a BOSS BR-800, and why.
I find it incredibly useful to put original songs that I like onto the Boss BR digital recorder. Here are four ways to do it. I would like to know if it works for other BR recorders.
    Enjoy!

Side story. When I started trying to learn classic rock songs from the '60s and '70s, I would put the original song on to my Boss digital recorder or DAW. Then I would look up the BPM or tempo of the song to sync the metronome or even a drum groove. My thought was I would play each part and use the original as a reference. If you haven't guessed, many songs recorded to tape in the '60s and '70s had BPM/Tempos that drifted. I tried with only partial success to use DAW tempo detection to stretch the song to an even tempo, but it was too frustrating.

Yup. Songs recorded by real people have far more character and energy than a computer, but most of us don't have a drummer who can turn up with a full drum kit to a recording session in our spare bedroom any time we feel inspired to record something. I haven't yet found a drum kit application that enables you to set a variable tempo, except the BR-series.
