I noticed the BR-600, BR-900CD, and BR-1200CD USB connection to Windows10 64-bit does not work. Does the BR-1600 connect via USB to Windows10? Assuming it doesn't, what are thoughts on solutions? For the BR-600 and BR-900CD, one can pop out the Compact Flash Card, pop it into a card reader, and capture that way. Not sure what that means for the Rhythm Arranger. For the BR-1200/BR-1600, I have seen people say remove the hard drive and pop into a USB external device. My thought was to buy a used laptop with the latest version of Windows that does work (XP, 7, 8?) and use it as a dedicated single purpose computer. I wonder if Linux provides an avenue?
TBH I dont transfer via the USB, so I'm not sure if the BR1600 will work with Windows 10. I did connect to Windows 7 the other day and it worked fine. Unfortunately, the USB1 connection on the BR1600 is probably its biggest downfall. The solution would depend on what you are transfering. If it is just one or two tracks, I juse a CD-R/W which is pretty quick. I just use the same CD over and over. For larger backups of projects, I do remove the HD and connect directly to the PC for very fast tranfers. I have also used a HD dock which you can pickup pretty cheap too like this: www.ebay.com.au/itm/223986683641?chn=ps&_ul=AU&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1aGN0emmiStGr-lz_8KqKQA50&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-166974-041499-5&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=223986683641&targetid=1872304691451&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9070612&poi=&campaignid=19901990084&mkgroupid=147581151356&rlsatarget=pla-1872304691451&abcId=9308414&merchantid=7364522&gclid=CjwKCAjwov6hBhBsEiwAvrvN6MIVHMVm5W-oYK2V7yz4mWef0SDK025HUtbgmcMnk-0cCeYFE2l3HhoCFu4QAvD_BwE). I removed all the screws from the bottom plate and held it in place with magnets which allowed me to remove the HD pretty quickly when needed.
@@masteringtoolkit You could also use an extension cable to move the BR1600 hard drive external and put the drive into a cheap external enclosure. That would make it even easier, because you then are able to use many diferent hard drives for your music (and exchange them external whenever you want on the BR1600)
@@RichardCyberPunk You cant use the USB for an external drive. The only way you to make the HDD "external", would be to extend both the IDE ribbon cable and the power cable. You'd have to leave the bottom off the Br1600 for the cables, so I'm not sure how practical that would be.
@@masteringtoolkit Curious. Micro BR, BR-600, BR-800, BR-1600/1200 all use balanced TRS cable (tip ring sleeve) but the Micro BR-80 must use an unbalanced only. Hmm.
@@Fezzler61 Not quite. The BR 600 has balanced TRS 1/4" connectors, while the BR 800 and BR 1200 have balanced TRS 1/4" *and* XLR connectors. The BR 1600 however only has balanced XLRs with the 1/4" inputs being unbalanced TS. And yes, the BR 80 uses an unbalanced TS connector.
@@masteringtoolkit Ah, thanks. I connected a balanced TRS cable from my SM53 to the Micro BR-80 and the noise floor/hiss was really bad. No adjustment of input level or record level would reduce it. Tomorrow I'll find an unbalanced TS and see if that was the issue.
Thaks so much for your videos, I recently got a BR1600 and your series is invaluable to me.
That's great to hear Steve - thanks for the comment and happy recording!
Very well done series, thanks.
Cheers Rick, much appreciated.
Thank you so much!
You're welcome Eric!
Hi there. Do you still have the demo songs that came on this machine?
Thank You
Having a foot switch makes it much easier to punch-in..
Yep, definitely does.
Absolutely brilliant, cheers
Cheers Danny - I'm glad you found it helpful.

Did you get your BR1600 yet? How is it going?
@@masteringtoolkit I did. I unboxed it. Cleaned it. Tested it. Tried some features and put back in box for now. The BR-1200CD is still out on my desk.
