One idea I had for KH3 is that we could receive the Keyblade from each of the Guardians of Light, and Formchange would be their combat moveset, including a shotlock for them. Imagine Sora receiving Ends Of The Earth and the Shotlock is Ultima Cannon.
Oathkeeper will always be my favorite. I love the design, it being a representation of Kairi, and even the hit sound is great. Side note, I love that you actually talked about the hit sounds.

I really hope when we fight Xigbar/Luxu, he'll use No Name *with* his arrowguns, maybe do the sniper rifle thing again but with No Name as the long barrel.
I feel like a simple workaround to a lot of KH3's flaws with form changes would be to allow you to instantly force a form change at the cost of, say, between 1/3rd to all of the Focus gauge depending on how good the form is, that way form changes suddenly have the same level of reliability and utility as KH2 drive forms without really changing much
I agree with KH1 Ultima's being best. In vanilla KH1, I always felt you could actually see the synthesis ingredients in the design of the weapon (the Gales are the mesh on the blade, the mystery goo forms the hilt, etc.). Wish more synthesis stuff did that, intentional or not. Also, Olympia in A, we stay flexing.
I will say this: Combined Keyblade looks like what the X-blade would/should actually be. Its got the flourish of the Ultima Weapon taken to the extreme, and is an even balance of light and dark. Just get rid of the crown at the top and fruit at the bottom, and look at it next to the door to darkness. The only thing it really needs is a formchange to something reasonably sized when wielded in combat, but it's true form should still be the larger than life scale it has now.
I firmly believe that KH3 would have gotten a lot more praise if no keyblade (except Oathkeeper and Oblivion) had more than one form change. There are enough weapon modes in the game to cover every non-dlc Keyblade and still have 1 form left over. If people hadn’t come to expect multiple forms on a blade, but had only unique transformations, I think people would have been happier with it. I completely disagree that Hunny Spout is entirely redundant to Shooting Star, however. The 100 Acre Wood keyblade’s shots slow enemies and it gives a barrier option missing from the other.
one winged angel includes meteor iconography to reference ff7s main plot and the main body is made from sepheroths sword masamune. unique pentagram stars and flame trail add up to my personal favorite, especially because of the work it took me to get it.
I can't lie I've never minded most of the toy looking keyblades. The KoC one is alright but Mirage Staff is just so damn fun to use. And Happy Gear's twin yo-yos are SO fun.
My favorite is the kh2 ultima. It's so iconic to me. I'm surprised that you didn't talk about it's sounds. The sparks it has when you swing it the sound the stars. It's amazing.
Ocean’s Rage is probably my least favorite. Eugh! On the opposite end, Sleeping Lion is probably one of my favorites. The design is very clean, but like you said, the Combo Plus ability it has isn’t all that great. A shame. I think my #1 is Oathkeeper (I’m sure it is for lots of people, lol). I like the wing-shaped guard and the kanji teeth. I love how it symbolizes Sora and Kairi’s bond. And every in game, it is somewhere between decent and great; gameplay-wise.
While on the contrary I actually prefer when the keyblade is designed as a momentos to the world that you just visited Maybe that's why I like dream drop distance and Kingdom Hearts 3 keyblades so much

Kingdom Hearts has a lot of cool keyblades designs tbh, the only ones I have not liked so much are those that seem like just a prop like Sham said, oh, and "showy" keyblades too, don't really like those too much. (sorry Ultima) I wonder if it was Nomura who designed all of those.
tbh im more ssurprised classic tone isnt higher with it being the strongest magic keyblade in kh3 having maxed 14 magic and 11 attack, so its definitely not so low on a teir list, then again it is a design based list
Wayward Wind is more of a dagger/machete than a sword. Ever tried back handing a broad sword? Not fun, very impractical. But backhanding a machete or knife is a little more realistic
Sad that ddd ultima weapon is mostly useless since there isn't a keyblade transfer option in New game plus like kh3 and you only get it after beating julius
honestly I morally oppose this tier list because no credit is given to funny designs like the ice cream one because they "don't make sense" also my favorite keyblade is Classic Tone lol but hey if that's your criteria who am I to judge, since it's not like this is actually a matter of objectivity lol
Thank you for mentioning criteria for Keyblade placement. Most who make a tier list just slap them onto a tier with just a few words as justification, then forget about it, and it essentially becomes a "personal preference" list. I must ask though, what is the exact difference between each Keyblade on the same tier?

Ill always have to pick metal chocobo by looks alone, hate how many of the keyblades looks like broken chainsaws with handles and particularly despise all the days ones. But the one true SSSS keyblade is not roxas' stick but sora's short moment wielding a shield in KH1, i wished to god i could eventually use the shield as a weapon in any of the games, and KH3 delievered...i guess, seems the wishful thinking ruined it for me in the end cuz it became a "use it for the gimmick" kinda weapon.
The nice thing about having over 100 keyblades to rate is that there's bound to be both stuff you found treated unjustly and rare takes on keyblades you love. ~w~
