This video is amazing! Your arrozcaldo looks good. If you have trouble looking for sweet rice, you can use jasmine or even the long grain rice and just add more water. You can even use a day old rice. Never thought of ground chicken but any cuts of chicken is fine… buy the cheap cuts. Love the motorcycle, Betsy 2.0- Oorah! Driving from NY to Utah on a bike is a once in a lifetime event! Definitely in a Bucket List. By the way, we are from Mindanao (Bisaya) and living in the Midwest. Thanks for the videos!

Kuya Kurt, your positive energy shines through, and the cooking portion of your vlog is such a delightful treat! What makes it even more endearing is that you're not a professional chef, but you're giving it your all-and that natural, unpolished humor is what truly makes it stand out. Keep pushing forward, because your humor not only brings joy to others, but it's also fueling your own confidence and helping you discover a passion that's uniquely yours. Stay motivated! 🎉 - Nellie Novilla from San Diego California

When I make my Arroz Caldo , I don’t use the box chicken broth, I just use a LOT of garlic, onion and ginger and use plain water and add salt. The garlic onion and ginger is enough to make the soup flavorful.
And then put a topping of green onion and fried garlic and add a little patis and just a little calamansi . And I always use chicken breast with bones and drumsticks.
This cooking vlog is fun because of your story telling. 😊👏👍

It was nice seeing you riding your bike and showing us the surroundings. I really enjoyed listening to your stories, your jokes and laughter.I don’t know how you can do it alone in front of the camera. It’s good to see you’re having a good time cooking. Don’t worry about the bashers, just keep going. Eventually, you will learn the basics without even following a recipe and make it your own. Your senses will guide you, your heart will lead you, and your mind will provide clarity. Trust in your intuition, follow your passions, and let your wisdom light the way. Smart take with the helmet! I'm sorry, I didn't notice your high vent in the kitchen. Brilliant plot though! If you were using fresh garlic & ginger you will not get the splatter that the pastes give out...moisture in the pastes cause the oil to splatter!By the way, Betsy Ross was a real American figure who sewed the first American flag.We live in NJ across the Delaware River from where Betsy Ross lived in Philadelphia, PA close to the Independence Mall where the Liberty Bell is housed.... a bit of American History! Goodluck & Godspeed!P.S. Grandma used to say, hiccup means you're still growing, so watch out!Adios amigo!

Ginagawa ko po sa ginger chop ng super liit so its not that strong when you bite it but instead gugustuhin mo syang kainin lahat kapag maliliit. Masarap din sya pag dinagdagan pa ng konteng water parang may sabaw but not watery.
Lemon and fish sauce (patis) plus more ground pepper make it more tasty.
Good job. Love your humor and transparency. 🤗

If you use the same ingredients but change the protein or meat, the menu will differ:
If you put boiled eggs with crushed chicharon on top, it is called LUGAW.
If you use chicken, it’s called ARROS CALDO
If you use beef internal organs or commonly intestines, it is called GOTO

I use a S-ton of Garlic, and a whole lot more ginger. The ginger is the key for me. I also prefer with a lot more water so it's very watery. I really can't move on with you cooking with that helmet. You should do that often :). You have such a wonderful vlogging presence and attitude. You stand out of the rest in my opinion. You give me so much ideas, but I don't want to copy you lol. I am cooking along with you without 🙅‍♀️ the👷‍♀️ helmet 😂😂😂. Before you can even ask Alexa, I was already yelling 8 oz in a cup 😂😂😂. As far ginger is concerned, always use fresh if at all possible when making arrozcaldo. Fresh ingredients are the foundation of good food, especially Filipino food. That is why karenderia food is great. They don't have a big kitchen to house big freezers and refs...so most karenderia cooks go to local market daily.

Kuya Kurt, it's not really common for us to use store bought chicken broth. Either we prepare it from scratch or we include the bones when we cook the chicken. I know you don't like picking out the bones but that is where you get that beautiful chicken flavor. Another option is to add chicken bullion to enhance the flavor of the broth. Also, we usually add kasubha, which is a local spice and it has a very mild flavor. The kasubha gives that yellowish color in arroz caldo. I don't know what it's called in English and I guess that is not available there. Anyways, I think your arroz caldo is too thick because you only use glutinous rice. Normally, we would mix glutinous rice with regular rice so it will not be so thick and it will be more soupy. But otherwise, I think your arroz caldo is okay. I commend you for the effort. I really enjoyed listening to your motorcycle story though. Your story telling was entertaining 😃

@ilovemangobingsu Indeed Kabayan! Kasubha is the Filipino version of Safron / Safflower which in addition to yellow ginger will give your arroz caldo that appetizing yellowish tinge! They're available in Filipino stores. The bit expensive Safflower is available at Wegman's!I commend Kurt for doing his best! Godbless!

0:00 To start off...we saute the onions, ginger & garlic with turmeric powder (14 tsp) or chopped yellow ginger if you could get it (abou
    t a tbs
p).The turmeric, aside from adding flavor, it creates an appetizing yellowish tinge to the arroz caldo. Our final garnishes are fried garlic, fried onions (all available now in Asian grocery stores) green onions & hard boiled eggs! Thank God for bringing that ending music back! It should be your signature 'end of episode' music!(Need the title though,if you don't mind! Goodluck & Godspeed!😢

Hmmm...Arroz caldo, my comfort food!!! I wished I could cook arroz caldo here in my place but the only problem is there was no Filipino store here in Cincinnati. This place is as boring as hell. Next time try cooking goto.

Hi kuya Kurt! I'm Dexter, your avid fan. I'm sharing you my own "secret" recipes. Hope you'll enjoy these simple dishes!
Beef Tapa Recipe (no need to marinate)
    Ingredients:
beef sirloin(thinly cut, around 1/4 inch thick) = 500 grams
    soy sauce = 8 tablespoons
    brown sugar = 3 tablespoons
Beef broth cubes (optional) = 5 grams
    garlic powder = 1 tablespoon
black pepper (ground) = 1 teaspoon
    vinegar(cane) = 3 tablespoons
    water = 2 cups
cooking oil (for frying) = 4 tablespoons
    Procedure:
    1. Mix all the ingredients(except cooking oil) in a pot then let boil.
    2. Add beef and cover the pot. Simmer for 1 hour in low heat. Keep it covered.
    3. Remove the cover. Increase the heat and let the soup evaporate. Add cooking oil before the soup is completely evaporated then stir fry.
    4. Fry until done. Remove excess oil.
    5. Best served with soft boiled/fried egg and garlic/fried rice. Enjoy!
    * you can also make Bistek Tagalog out of this fried Tapa.
    Bistek Tagalog Recipe
    Ingredients:
fried Beef Tapa = 250 grams
    onion (chopped) = 1 to 2 pieces
    calamansi/lemon juice (freshly squeezed)= 2 tablespoons
    soy sauce = 4 tablespoons
    water = 1 tablespoon
    cooking oil = 3 tablespoons
    black pepper (ground)
    Procedure:
    1. Fry onions then add the liquid ingredients. Let it boil.
    2. Add the fried beef tapa and pepper, then simmer for 5 minutes in medium heat.
    3. Taste. You can adjust the proportion of soy sauce to lemon juice depending on your preference.
    4. Serve with rice. Enjoy!
