The Mod Zoo Munkys join Bill Owen from Mnpctech in exploring one of the best Classic Auto salvage & Junk Yards in the United States. "French Lake Auto Parts, Inc. is located 60 miles west of Minneapolis and St. Paul in French Lake, Minnesota. We have over 100 acres of cars and trucks ranging from 1900 to present and in all makes in models. Specializing in older vehicles. FLAP, Inc. a world leader in the automotive recycling industry has been family owned since 1956. Specializing in classic auto and truck parts from the 1920 to the present."
"Last Friday, I went to one of my top five favorite places: French Lake Auto Parts (FLAP) in Annandale, Minn. This 100-acre salvage yard always has a great selection of early iron that ranges in the thousands of cars, and the inventory is continually changing. Owners Floyd and Skip Nolan keep unearthing new stashes of vintage tin, so the rotating inventory requires frequent visits. Throw in the yard’s popularity and it also means that if you find a 1957 Chevy or 1941 Ford in the yard like your vehicle back home, be sure to get all the parts you need while you’re there, because the car may be gone by your next visit.
My visit was extremely successful. I found some parts for my 1981 Impala coupe that I had been searching for over the past several years and some 1962 Cadillac parts. Unfortunately, all of the 1955 Cadillacs I had previously picked parts off of were gone, but Skip assured me there’s a huge cache of mostly complete cars dating from as far back as the 1930s and up to the 1960s on its way to French Lake. I’ve learned my lesson and will be headed back very soon to check out the fresh vintage metal in hopes of finding a “new” ’55 Cadillac.
The photos below show some of the cars present during my visit on May 10, 2013. There are some shots of cars in the main part of the yard that are getting as long in the tooth as a 1950 Buick grille (thankfully), as well as some of the cars (mostly Mopars and postwar Packards) that were part of a recent 250-car acquisition of project vehicles and a few parts vehicles."

all those beautiful classics. made me almost cry.
I agree the Dodge van needed a mural; I seem to recall that many had a tiny porthole window on reach side as well, very cool tour...reminds me of all the auto yards I used to hoof through in my youth.
Thanks Bill !!
Thats pretty Awesome sight :), Old Cars, Love Looking at stuff like that.
Growing up in that area French lake was our auto parts store
Love the car commercial inserts!
I LOVE going to French Lake auto parts. That is where I got a few chrome pieces for my Pontiac and replaced my windshield washer sprayer for my monte carlo. For me it is a long ride there, but worth it!
That BOSS 429 Mustang is Badass!
Hi, After we're dead and gone someone is going to enjoy your videos.
These guys have a well organised yard !
Thanks Bill and crew for this excellent video. As a brit I have always admired the classic age of American cars - compared to the boring crap in the UK.. That is one amazing junk yard and look forward to seeing what inspirations grab your next builds...
But many American Hot Rodders built 1930 & 1940 Austin's and Anglia's for Drag Racing here in the 60's & 70's
nice classic cool cars!!
Cool video. Thank you for sharing this!
Beautiful place love to be ther the junk yard is my second home love classic cars they beautiful and there are 100%metal.
that Lincoln was nice...fiat spyders were nice too.. cool video
Thanks for the cool video Bill.
Great video! I could watch hours of this.
Thank you, we also visited this Vintage Minnesota yard as well, ua-cam.com/video/clSk_jHbaOg/v-deo.html&lc=UgzA2zKp18t0Qt6XznZ4AaABAg
Nice video. Have a yellow Gremlin out here somewhere-dropped off approximately 1979. Lived near Annandale.
Subbed! I love your pc stuff. Helped me a few times with upgrades and such. That auto heaven is sick! I also like the fact they kept the better cars with some shelter. Some yards just rip, destroy, sell a few parts, crush. Fill yard.
I like how you put the commercial in over your video! Innovative!! Well done!
I really enjoyed the inserted Hudson promo film at approx. 4:30 while showing the rotted remains of an actual car same as the one being advertised.
loved the vid. Thank you. also I would totally drive that van!
So many amazing projects so little money
A "likely" excuse for going to an old auto junk yard. It would work for me! Pure "guy stuff!"
Fun tour, thanks! The show Roadkill inspired me to do something with my old junker photos.
Flemings Auto in Egg Harbor Twp, NJ is my favorite old old rambling yard with all kinds of stuff. Every year they do The Pumpkin Run Show. I'll have to find one like it here in South Central Florida.
I made a few slide shows of one of the Pumpkin Run Shows. FUN stuff! Enjoy...
Flemings 2009 Pumpkin Run Car Show - The COOLEST Car Show - Pt 1 of 3
I'll have a lot more in the coming months. I took LOTS of pics at the shows.
Cool cars!!!!!!
that was COOL!!!
Gracias amigo nice video👍
Great video
Thanks for these videos bringing back just one of these american made classics and saving a part of the american legacy well its heaven to me .
Thank you, I've got an even better yard tour video planned for later this year, hopefully before the snow starts flying
Потрясающие автомобили...
I was actually just at French Lake auto parts yesterday!
Cool, see anything interesting? Have you seen my Windy Hills Auto Parts video? Thank you for your feedback Daniel~! Hope you're having a good summer! Bill at www.mnpctech.com
Great! Thanks.
my kind of place
Minnesota, rust bucket central, that Boss 9, for $176,000.00 they made a little, bought it for $100K, spent $40K, that 9 should have been restored, they tried to pass it off as a "survivor" really nice ones go for $250K+
thank you for this trip i enjoyed the whole video. its my dream to go on a junkyard like this by myself and take pictures but i live in germany and that is pretty much shit
Good video
Fantástico. maneco -Rio Grande do Sul - Brasil.
I would LOVE to Camp Out Here, looking for parts for my hot rod project
That's a goldmine
51-53 hudsons where the best hudsons
Interesting to watch .
There some 53 Pontiac`s like mine .
Parts are hard to find in Sweden .
Very cool, thanks for watching.
OMG, thought you said French Lick... I figgered there was only one of them... I should have known it was that northern Minn accent! "Git da beg of groshrees out of my car." ;-)
i'm from poland, i like what y'r douing. think abuout whole glass case. i'm working on self made alluminium-pleksi case.
Mr T van looked good!
+Stephen Sansom they should charge 20 bucks per just to look at there treasure hord of 4 doors
+Stephen Sansom I didn't see that and im unwilling to watch it again
Stephen Sansom man
O me god, died and gone to heaven. Lol what a plase
Yes, and this Minnesota yard as well, ua-cam.com/video/clSk_jHbaOg/v-deo.html&lc=UgzA2zKp18t0Qt6XznZ4AaABAg
Some of those looked pretty decent, I would've tried to fire em up if they had keys in them. Often they do so you know it runs before buying
Cool...
I want to live in that junkyard and build muscle cars and stuff all day
Two '58 Skyliner Retractables and how many Kaisers with windscreens still in place... Amazing.
that MG was a B not a Midget btw :-)
I would have liked to have seen more of those late 1930's humpbacks and pre war 40's cars. Or maybe you just don't know enough about them to show them.
That poor Audi at 15:50 ._.''
I drive one of those myself in a dark metalic green and it runs great for over 16 years now, but I got a manual gear box and beige seats.
Interesting and sad at the same time.
I get sick everytime I see Classics like these being parted out. it aggravates me
Allowing them to be parted out, allows people who can't find rare parts keep their own classic cars alive. Recycling classic car parts is a good thing. The alternative is crushing them for scrap metal, which is bad thing. #ratrod #Chevy #ford #dodge #hotrod #mustang #corvette #Volvo #VW #Chrysler #Mopar #BMW #Mercedes #Hemi #Camaro #Minnesota #Honda #Toyota #Volkswagen #Subaru #Nissan #Mazda #Chevrolet #GMC #Audi
I love caddilac in 19s they're nice
I know man
They don't build em' like they used to indeed, cars are junk today.
Old school cars are simply the best.
What bothers me is that future generations will probably say the same thing when they get older too, I know that there are alot of so called car junkies out there who will always say that the new stuff is better and in some ways it is, But also I think about what it is that we lost in cars throughout the decades vs what was gained. To my way of looking at it. We now have cars and trucks that are not much more than appliances, expensive ones at that. But that's not the way I remember the cars of my childhood or my teen age years. If you are as old as I am than I think you know what I'm trying to say . There was a time when you could tell any make of car almost half a block away. When you could get under the hood of almost any domestic and Import car and be at any external part in seconds. People can say that alot of those old cars needed more maintenance than the newer stuff but most people not olny excepted it but knew how to do it. With some of the maintenance of newer cars it may be less frequent but its alot more expensive and sometimes time consuming. And if its something major and the car or truck isn't under warranty, well, It gets expensive,You have alot more sensors and electronics that are involved. Sorry if I rambled on about this but it's been on my mind for an awful long time!
Thought I'd see a Spyder. I guess thats a good thing.
spyders?......reminds me of my buddy's mirage, ua-cam.com/video/HwcBgswi_Sk/v-deo.html
Hi all, i'm currently moding my NZXT H440 and i want to ask a question, when i drill out those rivet on the case, what size of drill bit should i be using and what size of screw should i use to screw back those panel when i'm done painting the panels?
wow so many sweet cars there wish i could find a 47 chevy 5 window truck 1/2 ton "fender" in decent shape instead of the one my dads trying to work on cause we cant really find em around here plus he's not wanting to pay a high price
I bought a door latch from them for my 1951 dodge Meddow brook , that was good information,
Gerald C Linen
Be building cars on a daily if I lived near there
in intro at left side there is a pale blue panel van/people carrier...looks cute but what make and model is it/was it?
nice
L00king for 64through68olds and pontiacs
I wonder how well those old radiators would work for water cooling a computer, provided you can find one that's not going to be circulating rust through the system...
brandishwar allmoust all cars radiator's a'r made from alluminium - look out for acid corrosion
mariusz zaborowski sorry for my language. i'm from poland
mariusz zaborowski
Yeah good point about the aluminum. It's certainly not something to have in a computer loop, then, at least not without a lot of corrosion inhibitors in the fluid.
brandishwar I have seen pix of one guys computer and he has a radiator on the outside of his house with plumbing through the wall.
Not those old cars. Those radiators are made of copper and brass. Even as late as the 1980's they were copper and brass.
The ford econoline pickup was not terribly hot with the engine inside the cab as one might think. No worse than any other non airconditioned car of its time.
Thank you for watching .... Bill at www.mnpctech.com
Does anyone know of any wrecking yards anywhere in the US that might have some old Studebaker trucks in stock? I'm looking for a grill insert for a 1936 2T2 J15. I'm based to Australia we and we have nothing here.
1:32, Ford Galaxy. Or Chrysler Imperial?
Any 58 Dodge Coronet 4drs?
Will they sell complete cars or parts cars?

These guys didn't crush up there old vehicles like so many other salvage yards
did.
why do not factory old car again.
you guys found a shag wagon
Do they have any Chevelles out there I want to buy two out a junk around for around 4 5 grand in a couple months.
+Mike Prince how much they would charge I wouldn't pay over $1000 for I pay $ 200.00 bucks thats it
my dad and I look for impalas and only found one next to a caprice
+Mike Prince I saw one Chevelle when they were walking around. It was after they saw the 4door Nova's. Matter of fact, the one guy called it a Nova but it was a 64-65 Chevelle?
They just don't make cars like that anymore!! Sadly, I have too admit, that I'm now part of the old farts club!! lol
that's y i don't like cars only car's i like are old ones
Mr Bill can I buy a whole body if I needed it to restore
Yes, they will sell you whatever you need. Have a great day!
@@Mnpctech_Giveaway_PC_Mods thanks for your advice 😁😁
Minute 6:08 1965 Chevelle or Malibu 2 post doors
I go here all the time
+i_am_whyitr Really? Anybody allowed to go in there and snoop around?
+NoyzyBoyZ3 Yea I think so, I go there every once and a while and have never been told no
+i_am_whyitr I could dig checking that place out,but Ohio's a bit too far!
+NoyzyBoyZ3 I just happened to be watching this again when I got your email. I have a guitar that was painted the same color as that Hudson! It's called Shell Pink! Fender Stratocaster!
corvairs exploded if you hit them in the right spot lol
Im not bashen french lake, but i got some crap service.I sat for three hours to get two 13 inch mustang rims..whent 60 miles out of my way for that.just had to see it for myself,, its not that i dont know how a yard works im retired from a yard that i worked in for 15 years.my wife and i just sat there, both looking at each other.i can understand if things get busy.but the longer we sat there the bigger the joke was for them.all smerks,so so service,,its to bad to i hate buying stuff off ebay for my 50 chevy truck,,(the rims is what i needed to move my truck that day.)they were nice people..but i felt like my girlfrend broke up with me,,my wife was just laughten.
Nice job with the video. If you remember the plastic car models we use to glue together, well now we are driving them, new cars and their designs are horrible, no class like the old beauty's had. The last real cars had chrome bumpers !!!!! Thanks for sharing the video, cars when America cared about something besides 100% plastic junk cars
+Mark ... AMEN, Thank you for great post
I wish you would do a couple more videos in this yard, very interesting
+Mark ...someday I'll return, here ismy video tour of our largest Import Car Salvage Yard in Minnesota ua-cam.com/video/LZRrmAduBG8/v-deo.html
I totally agree with you. the cars back then had soul, not today's plastic on wheels
We have a bunch of 70 coenets this is for the guy who asked me if I have some 70 road runners I think they have a lit of the same parts
hi thomas, have you thought of starting a facebook fanpage for your yard?
I don't know how too
it's free, here is how to guide link, facebook.com/How-To-Create-A-Fan-Page-132705676792828/
Thomas, I have a friend in Minnesota who is wondering if your yard has any Volkswagens for parts? Could you please post a list here when you have time?
レストアされた自動車もあるのか!

Dude, you no nothin
+i_am_whyitr what?
Any Pontiac in this yard ?

Any vw bus?

seams the french cars r all gone !
MGB not Midget.
I have a 69 Chevrolet Impala convertible looking for a fan shroud cash in hand
I really enjoyed the video, but the guy at 8:45 (opening the hood) was a fail. No stand-up please.
haha, Thank you for watching, Bill at mnpctech.com/
If you want to see something amazing, check out this 1962 Chrysler, particularly the "Astrodome" speedometer and instrument cluster which is at 2:04. The entire car is such a work of art though. ua-cam.com/video/1Ix7MoZPMwg/v-deo.html
Any Beaumont's???
no, theyre all gone
@@Mnpctech_Giveaway_PC_Mods Beaumont's are not available in the u.s.
There's so much 50 Chevys
Yes, Thats great! Thank you for watching .... Bill at www.mnpctech.com
Im gonna be rich.....Im gonna make "old junkyard car" air fresheners. They will smell like "new car scent", only way different.....
Wow what bunch of rust buckets! Noticed that most of these old heaps were not in good condition so what is the purpose of keeping these cars...for bee hives, snake holes, mice nests? Did notice many old Dodges and Plymouths....I disliked those ugly autos when my family drove them, the worst was the 60 Fury...not a car that any teenager would enjoyed ...but it did have a push button tranny! It did hold lots of my friends with a roomy trunk for refreshment coolers! Why were those cars so ugly?? Finally my parents saw the light and brought General Motors Buicks, Pontiacs and Olds 98's. Those were in a class of their own and floated on the road with room inside for everything. And they were beautiful...best was the 65 Olds 98 LS, that car was a gem.
yes it did but only cuz they put a lot of money in it .....wasent a get and sell
frozen in time,
ミツバチが飛んでる(怖)
i could have used parts out of that gremlin
